Country Bear Jamboree

Grizz, if you have never considered it, you should go into politics. You can dance around questions and issues with the best of them!

I really think the earlier suggestion about upgrading the animatronics (as well as the sound quality) really has merit. They could do some very clever effects with the instruments.

OK, I don't think Grizz was against improving the technological part of the show. I think Grizz is not wanting to see major changes that screw up the original intent of the show....for example...The Tiki Room under new management....that show didn't improve at all..just became a bit annoying. I would hate to see CBJ change the style of the show...if we can have entire channels on television dedicated to "nostalgia tv" why can't we have CBJ at Disney to keep Walts dreams alive. Main Street USA has changed so much...becoming more like a strip mall (todays Main St. USA)than the Main Street USA of old....those are the improvements that just can't be classified as improvements to me. There are 3 other parks at WDW that can handle the thrill rides and other attractions. Why do we have to sacrifice some of the original things that do bring people back over & over again.
If CBJ wasn't that popular why would they have it on ERide nights? when we went to our last eride night we watched the show on two different evenings and both shows had a good crowd. All I am really trying to say is in my opinion YES it needs some tech. improvements w/the sound system...but NO please don't change it.

Good points Dwarful. Sorcerer, I am in what you might call "Disney Politics" - and I haven't skipped around any questions. If I have, I beg your pardon to please present them to me.

I think a lot of trouble here is a lot of skips of post reading. In fact, my first post on this thread greatly supported the increase of technology. I enjoy change. Most attractions should, however, for their better. For example, if the ideals of the old Imagination attraction were kept, but taken to ever-higher steps, then that would be just phenominal!! Instead, there is *major* downgrading.

But I have listed, in several messages, those eight landmark attractions that stand as icons for the parks. I am not saying they should not be improved - I am all for it! However, when their original spirit and main element of fondness is torn away, then we've lost a family member. Sentiment is what makes millions of folks visit the parks time after time. The old stuff doesn't get old. It gets newer each time. One can watch Disney animated classics from the 40s and 50s. Because they are landmarks and have thousands of fans, yet they are "old", does that mean they should be destroyed?? I probably believe you are saying "no" to this answer.

But I ask you to consider it in the theme park level. Our bonds for eachother experienced in these classic attractions make the attraction a part of the family. One can revisit the park ten years later - and one can see that many of their classics - the most dear and landmarking - are still performing, to show the next generation while enjoying as if they were young again. Remembering the past and creating a stronger tomorrow.

Grizz, your pictures prove nothing. I can post pictures of a KKK rally, and that doesn't mean that attendence is high, and there is an overwhelming love of the KKK by grandparents, parents, and kids.

I asked this before, with humor, but now I'll ask it as a serious question. Name one thing presented in the CBJ that speaks to American family values.

Foolish!

I think I'm one of the few who actually enjoy the Under New Managment Tiki Room. It was tired and needed an update (I wish they hadn't let Gilbert sing though). There are some attractions that just should be left alone. This is one of them, but I wouldn't mind seeing some new characters. I've always thought the Country Bear Jamboree was to WDW as the Grand Ole Opry is to Nashville, there are new stars rising and they should get a showcase too. I've always been a Marty Stuart fan, if you know who he is, don't you think he would be a great bear?

But don't ever even think about replacing Big Al. "It's not the same w/out Blood on the Saddle. Remember the Country Bear Vacation from the late 80s and early 90s? Just don't do anything like that to the Bears again. PLEASE!!!!

Also I want to apologise for causing such a problem on the racing subject, I was hot headed last night!:zipit:

I'm not shure what you would consider a remake, But I would like to see the original show from the opening of CBJ, as far as a refurb if they haven't already done it I would like them to upgrade the technology. the CBJ opened with the older analouge siginaling system in the 70's and in the 30 plus years we have advanced the ability to improve the signaling system for the AA's to the newer digital systems that are available if they have AA's using the advanced digital technology and change ti a digital sound system for the audio, other than that I would not like to see it changed.

Oh, come on, Grizz! Nobody's going against anything. Children have different likes and dislikes, just like adults.

And just exactly what part of CBJ has anything to do with American family values? The part about men running out on women? The part about a "swinger" inviting someone up to their room? Oh, I know, it's the part about blood on the saddle and blood on the ground, right?

No2...I think you totaly missing the boat there. I agree that the show doesn't tout any family values, what it is , is a show that the whole family can enjoy together. The show does have a C&W soundtrack and theme, and C&W music usually is based on "sad events" or "misplaced" values, But you focusing too much on that, and missing the enjoyability and accessability to a larger audence then some of the other attractions which limit the audence due to being excessive or intense to people with medical or handicap conditions like ToT or any of the coaster based attractions or height restrictions for some of the younger guests.

But if it closes tomorrow, I have no doubts that I will still love my wife and children, and they will still love me. Because there is not one part of the show given at CBJ that HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH AMERICAN FAMILY VALUES. Your family has values (or not) before you walk into CBJ.

That makes no sense to say that. that would be a given. saying that is ludicris. where did we say that you would suffer from the lack of love in your family from the attraction closing?

dreamer, you need to put that in perspective, I would belive that the drop in CBJ attendance is in ratio to the attendance drop at MK in total. I'm shure the one to two hour waits were in line with MK being at a higher capacity levels then it is now. A drop in total park attendence drop would affect the drop at all attractions in ratio to the levels at full capacity.

OK, Grizz, how about this?

The Country Bears do a revival at Disney World complete with faith healing and speaking in tongues.

I hear Jim Bakker is making a comeback. He could join 'em.

C'mon this is getting rediculus, your going in the deep end here.

After reading these post on this subject I think alot of people don't like CBJ because it isn't their kind of thing. So then the people that think that way should not go to the CBJ and should spend their time at other attractions that they like and let the people that like CBJ enjoy it. Like it or not this world has all different kinds of people that have different kinds of likes and dislikes. Just like in our everyday life we have to take the good with the bad and live. And remember I'm just voicing my opinion and everybody has one. (This ole country boy is done with his soap box now.):D

By the way I like CBJ just the way it is!;)

It is still one of the most popular attractions. Why I wouldn't like a change like Tiki Room UNM...

(a) Theming: I mean, rap music and disco themes in Adventureland? Lilo and Sitch would have served much better. But still, I hate to see classics with tie-ins sometimes if they're permanent. I just can't stand the new one!
(b) Iago is plain annoying!
(c) The story of the attraction doesn't seem to have as much fundamental worth...it's the story...of a story about to happen...which doesn't happen. See what I mean?

As it stands today, CBJ is still beloved. Update it technology-wise, sure! It has great seasonal shows. But I don't think it should be "modernized"...It still won't gain the appeal. Case in point, the Country Bears film took a more modern approach. And CBJ is much more crowded than the totals of several theaters per day...per show!

I love it...and now playing: That classic Christmas show! :sohappy: Lines are longer than they have been for years, it seems.

Nope. Caught the boat. Rode it before. With Grizz.

In case you missed it, I posted that we (my FAMILY) enjoy CBJ. We clap. My wife and I sing along. We enjoy the show, as a family. As a matter of fact, I've been enjoying it as an adult, since 1973.

In case you missed it, there is a laughing smiley at the end of my comments. Indicating a joke. Next time I'll try to be more specific.

Grizz is very passionate with his beliefs and perspectives on Disney. Some might even say,...uh...extreme. Fine. But when he starts to imply that American family values will suffer if CBJ is changed or closed...well, I choose to express a different opinion.

(I'll even step out on limb here...I even agree with some of his other opinions, but I'm not going to tell him that :animwink: ).

Hehe..

"But when he starts to imply that American family values will suffer if CBJ is changed or closed...well, I choose to express a different opinion."

I didn't mean this. But if some low-grade attracttion replaces it...then that's something to be concerned with. :animwink: :D
