Rumor Country Bear Jamboree to be Replaced by Toy Story Show?

Didn’t others even on here confirm the Bears Story at least? If that’s the case then 3 or 4 is the likely scenario no?

Our insiders were either "CBJ was getting an update with a seasonal show" (a long time rumor) or "something is happening at CBJ". Only That Site said "CBJ completely replaced, and replaced with Toy Story."

If they go ahead and update/add songs and routines to the attraction, I think it’d be interesting if they added a randomized element like in ToT or Star Tours. You’d always get a slightly different show. There’d be constant variables, like Blood on the Saddle being in every performance, but if they got (competent, talented) voice actors to record 8-10 additional songs, and threw them in at random to create each 15-20 minute show, I think that would add longevity to the attraction. This would also encourage park guests to see the show more than once.

I pray if they do add new material, whomever was in charge of recasting/rewriting the Pirates Auction scene is not involved whatsoever. Yeesh.

Edit: They could even reinstate Devilish Mary back into the attraction if they went this route, as well as Ole Slew Foot.

Glad to hear all this! Yay Bears.

That isn't to say that changes won't occur. Even the DisneyBlog hinted as much:
"Our Imagineers are always looking at ways to bring more magic* to our guests through experiences and stories they know, but contrary to rumors, CBJ is not going into hibernation any time soon."

*code for IP?

Only that the rumors spread about Toy Story ain't happening any time soon. It also carefully avoids words like "overlay", fwiw. Gives Disneyblog wiggle room should things ever change. But hey, No Toy Story! Yay! CBJ lives another day. Classics are getting few and far between. Glad this one's sticking around!

Your point is valid...they always crunch ideas and numbers and revisit. Anything is possible...the problem is “nothing” is much more possible.

To judge the actions of the Walt Disney Company...we all have to be kinda like FBI profilers...
Am I saying the collective conscious is like an evil criminal mastermind?
Of course not!!

I’m saying it’s like an evil, legalized money extorting mastermind.

Key distinction - know the difference.

I fully believe they use sites such as this greatly to float test balloons for both data gleaning AND more importantly free advertising/press and buzz. A whole culture has grown tracking the unending stream of rumors about grand new builds. When the record says: DVC, minimal builds and ticket price increases. Don’t blame me...it’s the Iger record.

So they find “vessels” to do this. It’s not hard - plenty of volunteers. And the vessels are happy to do it...it’s fun and they get press event invited and/or good TA rates and discounts. Nobody at fault...makes sense.

My rub comes when people always post to the vessels: “when is this coming, oh great one?!?”

No...not getting it. Much was never to come. Just have to be mature about it and voice your opinion with your wallet at Disney parks. That will save the rides you love and maybe get us all much needed additions. Take everything else with sodium 😉

I hung my head in shame each time we toad pirates during that scene. “Show me your flock” was the best they could come up with?
It is ridiculous...and reflective of a greater world that has gone mad.

To think that kinda “sensitivity” coexists now with outright shouting (and accepted) of hate filled slurs across the street in many places in the USA is maddening

This just popped up in my Facebook feed. Tom said he won't retract either the Tiki Room or CBJ story.

Disney World fan blog says it’s ‘at war’ with the company it covers

Nice article. Nice link in it to wdwthemeparks.com's Twitter rebuttal of some of TC's claimed breaking stories. Which, BTW: TC has removed from the gondolas from his list of rumors that he broke.

WRT Stitch:
  • Aug 15, 2016: A Wreck-it Ralph VR attraction will replace Stitch's Great Escape [got that from Jim Hill]
  • Sep 21, 2016: Stitch to go to seasonal, will close permanently soon
  • Sep 30, 2017: Stitch "is no more." Replaced by the M&G
  • Dec 13, 2017: Stitch will open seasonally until Jan 6, 2018, at which time, it will never reopen. [No mention of having already said that Stitch's Great Escape "is no more."]
  • Jan 9, 2018: Disney is saying SGE will continue to be seasonal despite having seen internal documents showing it is closing permanently [Spectrum News13 got a spokesperson to say SGE was still seasonal] and CMs telling people it is closing permanently
  • Aug 13, 2018: Wreck-it Ralph will still replace SGE and probably not VR-based
  • Oct 2, 2018: We have reports of SGE being dismantled and so, when a Disney rep told that news station that SGE was still seasonal, they lied. Still going to be WiR.
  • May 17, 2019: SGE space is sill going to be WiR and everyone will have a game controller for this attraction. Oh, and I was right about SGE being gone! [Despite *not* being right in their Sep 30, 2017 report.]

Definitely better than the Toy Story replacement unless that was to be a temp overlay for the 50th as part of the existing show. (Dollywood does the concept with integrity I understand).

Especially after the 50th, Frontierland's future (at WDW) seems increasingly difficult to justify. IMO.

Didn't like them when I was 5, tried again at 15, still didn't like them. This is one ride I'm not doing with my kiddies. I'm also still on the fence about Jungle Cruise for similar reasons.

Dollywood does a better "Fronterland". Fact! Their rides...not so much but aesthetically their stuff just resonates better. Frontierland has always been hodgepodge but is still one of the more cohesive lands within MK, when compared to say Tomorrowland and Fantasyland (which to it's credit realized it needed to split it's offering into self-contained mini-lands) Frontierland could certainly be better. It'll happen eventually. IP can and likely will move in. But, Toy Story...yeah it doesn't fit the current aesthetic. Best thing would be massive expansion, adding to Frontierland, addressing TSI and adding to Liberty. Still, not really a place one would expect to see Toy Story characters, IMO.

There is a new movie next year so some upgrades could be in the pipeline. Just my opinion.

Discovery Bay with BTMRR acting as the gateway seems perfect. The rest of the existing area needs to be rethought.
