Rumor Country Bear Jamboree to be Replaced by Toy Story Show?

The only way I could see it is if it were added to an underperforming restaurant, but it hardly fits at The Wave.
That’s a huge operational cost...

A Central American in a chipmunk head costs very little

And the key to saving the wave would be to have decent food...maybe switch it with the contempo cafe and make it the highly underrated concourse cafe again??

Closing the Country Bears would certainly be tragic from a historical and nostalgic standpoint. I for one would miss it terribly, I'm still not completely over the soundtrack changes that removed all the amazing banter. That being said, even I have to be fair and say that the Country Bears may just not be cutting it for today's generation, and that's truly a shame. I think about it much in the same way as the Rockafire Explosion. Are singing animals enough to keep the attention of kids whose heads are normally buried in tablets and phones? Now, I think making it a Toy Story-themed attraction would be like pouring salt on a huge burn, but that's just because I'm seriously over all things Toy Story, and I would like to see something else go in that space, would the decision be made to replace the bears.

I'm seriously hoping this is just another rumor.

Singing animals are acceptable (and encouraged!) when there’s a drop and a splash every 2 minutes!

My first thought when I heard the rumor echoes another post on here about moving it to the Wilderness. Expand Whispering Canyon to include it as part of the restaurant. I think rather than a retire-and-replace, I'd rather see a relocate of an attraction. Nevertheless, Disney needs to be very slow and hesitant about replacing attractions that are originals, considered a classic, or one that Walt had his hand in - which CBJ fits all of these. Besides, what an added bonus for resort-goers if there was an attraction somewhere on site. No rumors of Tiki, but the same could be said of that - don't retire it, rather relocate it to a suitable themed resort like the Poly. As far as the operational costs, they nickle-and-dime guests (parking fees), so I think they not only can afford the cost, but also owe guests a bang for their buck. Walt was never concerned about the cost of a project; he used to say that it should be done right. When done right, the guests enjoy their experience, feel they got their money's worth, and will revisit. In short, when done right, it will pay for itself.

I think you mean Disney's own credibility. They only just recently announced a Main Street Theatre, threw up walls and then quietly 'changed priorities'.

You can't blame the messengers.

Totally different situation. That was a project officially confirmed by Disney, not just an unsourced rumor.

Rockafire Explosion's found some YouTube popularity through that official channel of them reprogrammed to lipsync to modern pop hits and again, from Five Nights at Freddy's.

Why on earth would they move a show to a resort? Wilderness Lodge isn’t a Great Wolf Lodge (thankfully).

TS4 is doing fine. Some of its estimates were absurd.

Still haven’t heard one way or another about my Tiki Room birds...

One reason might be because once the new reflections resort opens a hoop dee doo ticket will be next to impossible to get. CBJ might work as another guest choice.

Tiki to Poly seems like a good fit too.

Obviously not as currently used but they could function as "background music". Strictly atmospherics. Just like Sonny Eclipse.

I can agree with you on that! If i want the old west expereince I know plenty of people with horses who will give me the muddy street, horse manure, let me pee where I like and chances are good they stink just as bad as the locals would have and give it to me all for free. The dentist on the other hand, I'll keep our 21st century knowledge.
I'll take modern medicine as well . ;)

Underperforming compared to trackers I guess, it's still one of the biggest animated openings ever.

Yup, it actually beat The Incredibles 2 to become the largest global animated release ever at $238 million. The way these things work now, it's not guaranteed to match Toy Story 3's global take of a little over a billion, but we've reached a strange level of expectations when "biggest animated opening ever" = "underperforming".

SGE closed because it sucked and was hated. CBJ would close to be replaced.

SGE should still be replaced. I don’t know how they are OK with leaving a useless building on stage. That’s like Target selling out of appliances, deciding not to carry them anymore, and just leaving the empty shelves there.

Just call me skeptical. I have my doubts anything will reopen there for a couple years.

And while I hated Stitch, I have friends who love it and were sad when it closed.

They shouldn’t close anything until a replacement is imminent. At least it would eat some people.

If CBR closes it will be immediately replaced

Your friends are the exception

If CBR closes, I’ll have to find a new favorite resort, and that gondola thingie will be pretty pointless! 😉

It is remarkable that the naysayers get it wrong Every. Single. Time.

No, it just demonstrates for you the volatility of their decision making process. If a company can so easily steer away at the very very last second, how often do you think it happens just prior to the announcement phase?

When we are told things are a 'go' by insiders, it very well could be at that moment. Things are very often a 'go' and then don't happen, which I think is the only valid point brought up by @Sirwalterraleigh ... however what I don't routinely agree with is that just because Disney's batting average on seeing projects through sucks, doesn't mean what we are being told is completely factitious. NOR does it not warrant discussion. For a discussion board about rumours a few posters can't seem to wrap their head around the concept of how this all works.

If you want a different example, how about Universal's plans for Nintendo in Kid Zone. It was never a confirmed rumour by Universal (even if we saw some permits). So was that just an unsourced rumour too?

Largely speaking the people that bring us these rumours are sitting on very real artwork or plans... That's the 'source'. I've never known them to be in the business of making stuff up. Apart from @marni1971, he just guesses and draws vague plates of spaghetti. ;)

There is no reason to close the Country Bears. It should be untouchable. My grandparents loved that show in 1973. It is a small theatre, it fits perfectly in Frontierland and the fact that it is dated is exactly why it has its charm. If it were modern it would be awful. Frontierland doesn't need to be modernized. The whole point of it is that it isn't modern.

I don't think Disney is this dumb. Sounds to me like a rumor someone made up for the heck of it. Putting Toy Story in there would make no sense at all, it doesn't even fit with the theme. Fantasyland would make more sense.

Found this on YouTube from 2 months ago. Hopefully if the residents of Grizzly Hall are to keep their contract, they also negotiate a new sound system out of the deal. It’s pretty shameful an opening day attraction is allowed to operate in this state: Underscoring is so quiet, it’s practically non-existent in places. During Little Buford, you can only really hear Henry clearly. And the animation/figures have seen better days.

I can remember a family trip from the early 2000s where we had to wait for Mansion to reopen due to the effects in the seance circle malfunctioning. Apparently this is acceptable now. Not trying to start boarding everyone on the hate train, but wow.

The built-in mic on this camcorder is what's causing the audio issue here, it's a setting that automatically adjusts the volume to keep the levels consistent. It seems to set itself to the volume/decibel level of Henry's voice, then when the music comes on, which in the theater is a louder volume/decibel level, the camera is automatically lowering the recording volume of the music to match the level of Henry's voice. When the music stops it resets back to Henry's voice level... There's a way to turn it off, but I've accidentally used it at WDW, it's annoying. I bought a special add on mic for filming home movies at WDW
