Rumor Country Bear Jamboree to be Replaced by Toy Story Show?

If they did this and they used real animatronics for Woody and the gang the wait would be a killer, and a having a fast pass to see it would be a sure thing. I can imagine the characters coming out and doing their thing which might be jokes or something other than a song. Woody is a cowboy so it does fit if done right.

They could even leave the original animatronic band and have the MC introduce Woody as the new shows host.
A 40 inch tall woody animatronic comes out and introduces his friends one by one. Mr. Potato-head tells jokes. Rex and Hamm argue about what they are going to do. Jessie comes out with her lasso. Bo Peep comes out and flirts with Woody. Woody comes out riding Bullseye. Buzz comes out in Spanish mode. Jessie reappears all hot for Buzz. The Prospector tries to ruin the show. Woody stops him. The old bear band rises for the final act and the show ends with all the animatronics asking the audience to sing "You've Got A Friend In Me" with them. The doors open and the three heads on wall which are still there ask the audience to exit safely. The best of new and old as a refresh.

I would prefer if it was built in the studios just remove the bears. I think it would be a double win all around and would really make Toy Story land a well rounded must see area.

Excellent idea! However I do whole-heartedly agree that they don't need to add any more Toy Story attractions outside of the land they specifically built for the IP. Makes no sense. Do this exact scenario in TSL.

On a side note one of the highlights of Tokyo Disneyland was going into CBJ which I hadn't visited in Florida since I was under 10. Hearing the songs in Japanese really adds to the fun!

Until you see a shovel or a microphone with a dipstick spokesman behind it...caution is always healthy.

But things change...as do opinions. Got back from toy story 4 15 minutes ago and my opinion on this concept changed just since this afternoon.

I’m not saying this is definitely happening. Things can and do always change. But this rumor is based on reality not simply made up.

Exactly. And there were THREE legitimate entertainment updates for DHS that were “the plan”. Still waiting for them. Disney routinely gets gun shy. If people are going to get all bent out of shape, I can just stop sharing what I hear. I never understand the view that we shouldn’t take something serious til it’s on DPB. If that is the view, why read a News and Rumors forum on a fan site?

Will Woody in this puppet show be voiced by Tom Hank's brother? Because that would make this idea even worse, and it's pretty crappy idea in the first place

I agree...but it kinda proves my point.

Without going into heavy details...here’s where my root skepticism of the RUMORS and “news” comes from: its completely detached from the current management. They aren’t looking to put money into capex in the type of manor this represents. So the disgruntled in WDI can spitball and the frontline CMs can spread their flights of fantasy all they want...but it doesn’t fit. The iger regime has simply not operated this way. They have done comparatively little “standard” projects such as this...almost none. Concentrating on different things.

And of course rumors have been largely made up and spread like ivy since the dawn of Netscape. Doesn’t mean they are all wrong...but most are.

They’re fair discussion points...but for me - just me personally - they are overblown, overstated, and then people start asking travel planning questions around when to book to do them. As just happened here. I wish people would be more measured and not talk to amuse themselves. Ok. Done. Move on.

This is more than just spitballing within WDI.

Unless It gets go chapek level...it is ultimately spitballing. You have to consider ultimately who controls every dime - and who controls them.

But on this, it does seem like it could be a Chappie type jam...something to watch
You should probably already know that even in today’s Disney not every project needs to go to Chapek level for approval. However this type of development does seem like something he would be involved in.

But again this isn’t just people randomly brainstorming ideas in a room. Things are actively being set in motion and things are happening in the field regarding this project. Obviously the breaks might be applied, but this isn’t just a rumor or spitballing.

This is the classic nostalgia vs. relevance argument again. I am fervently against ripping out the Country Bears as I have been clapping along since I was 6. However, it usually costs me a couple of churros and some ice cream to get my kids to even sniff the show. They would much rather go see an updated Woodys Roundup, and when they do, it will generate the same nostalgia in them that will lead them to message boards in 30 years pounding their fist against updating the TS show with an all new interactive hologram show starring the characters of Onward 4. I've just got to accept the fact that they are (and should be) the target audience.

please link. I don't mind correcting myself if I have it wrong. Pretty sure he said just a couple days ago Tiki and Bears are near the bottom of the list.

Not yet. I can’t say it’s not true, just that I haven’t heard of it myself.

CBJ attracts under half of park attendees. The percentage is in the high 30s. But over half of those who do attend rate it as excellent. And like I said I know of proposals for a refresh for the 50th. But not a wholesale IP rebuild.

I am just Toy Storied out! Thank God they did not have the same team running Disney when the parks were originally built or it would have been 4 lands full of Cinderella and the Aristocats.

I get being tired of a particular franchise, but it's a wildly different comparison. Toy Story is not a Johnny-Come-Lately. It's now been part of our universe for 24(!) years with four extraordinarily well-received films(TS4, the FOURTH film, is at a stunning 98% on Rotten Tomatoes) and a holiday special, God knows how many toys, and now two generations of kids who literally grew up with it. Toy Story is as much as Disney lore as Mickey Mouse - who I might add, was only three years older than Buzz and Woody are now when he had become the absolute spiritual center of Disney.

Which is not an endorsement of getting rid of CBJ, which I rather love. I tend to agree that Toy Story land is the best place for this kind of project, though I have no problem with this project's theming as it's described. But I rankle when this is described this as a quick-bucks scheme on the lines of -- The Aristocats, for crying out loud? Toy Story is as important, crucial, popular and enduring part of Disney history as anything the studio has ever produced, and has justified an outsized place of representation in the parks.
