So my last Christmas set list was a "revamped" version of the original, with some overlapping songs. This time however, I wanted to try doing a show that has zero overlap with the original Christmas show!
Some alternatives I thought of were Trixie and Romeo doing a duet of "Baby, It's Cold Outside", either with the joke being that there is literally a dangerous snowstorm that Romeo is begging Trixie to avoid, or switching the roles around so the line "Gosh, your lips look delicious" is aimed at Romeo (given his very pronounced lips). I also considered giving Trixie, Shaker, or Big Al “Last Christmas” since they all usually sing about heartbreak. I may fine tune this a bit!
- Henry and Gomer - "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"
- The Five Bear Rugs - [Original Song]
- Wendell - "I'll Be Home for Christmas"
- In an homage to the original show, Wendell is lost in the woods. This gives the song's lyrics a sad and ironic twist, especially when he concedes he'll be home "if only in my dreams."
- Trixie - "Santa Baby"
- Trixie, on top of asking for what the song asks for, also asks for an excessive amount of materialistic goods before she’s cut off by the curtains.
- Ernest - "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas"
- Romeo McGrowl - "Little Saint Nick"
- The Five Bear Rugs - "Jingle Bells"
- Shaker - "White Christmas"
- Shaker is standing in front of a sunny/warm looking backdrop with several electric fans pointed at him, one of which has an ice block with the penguin in it. The joke here is that Shaker is hoping for snow, despite the weather making it clear it'll be a green Christmas.
- The Sun Bonnets - "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas"
- Teddi Barra and Henry - "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"
- No joke here, playing it straight much like the classic Teddi songs. The show needs its moment of heart!
- Big Al - "All I Want for Christmas Is You"
- Pairing an overplayed and annoying song with Big Al's off-key droning seems like a perfect fit!
- Cast (minus Trixie and Ernest) - "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town"
- I wanted to make this one a medley but I couldn’t think of any exciting songs that weren’t used in the original. Really, all that’s left are the religious ones (which would sound weird sang in a fast paced high energy finale) and Frosty the Snowman.
