That's interesting! So some people actually have decorations for Thanksgiving...

Hey, guys!!! A coworker of mine just gave me an idea, but I would like to ask for you guys' permission first. Instead of using the info you've just given me, and creating a single handout, can I use fragments of your posts, just like the way they are, and put your names, and the place you are from? Just the first name, you know. I guess that would be a hit among my students. It would seem more real, they always ask me to teach them REAL English, things that REAL americans say or write... If it's ok, please, post or PM me your first names, city and state, ok? Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!

Feel free to use what I posted. I'm Elizabeth from Birmingham, Alabama.

Oh, and we decorate a little for Thanksgiving also. I have some of the Thanksgiving beenie babies, some things my kids made in school, and other fall decorations.

Hi, guys!
I have been assigned this task, to prepare a conversation class about Thanksgiving. I have already prepared a text about Thanksgiving history, but I still need the second part, about Thanksgiving practices... things you normally do at Thanksgiving there in the US. Could you guys give me a hand? What happens at Thanksgiving there? What do you normally do?

You most definitely can use me--Debbie, from Boutte, Louisiana, United States.

Tigsmom, baked spaghetti is just boiled spaghetti, placed in a baking dish with butter, Pet Milk, Velveeta and Cheddar, eggs, and seasoned with Tony's, and salt and pepper. Bake at 350 until baked.
Mirliton dressing is my favorite. I'd forgo all of the other things prepared to exist on mirliton and shrimp!

Some people eat Tur-Duck-in.

(It's a chicken, stuffed inside a duck, stuffed inside a turkey. It's pretty good)

They sold these at our local WalMart last year. I was so tempted to try one.
Guess I'll have to invite the entire family over though......

Ummm - I hope I'm misunderstanding an American term, as I now have visions of someone either cooking using milk designed for the consumption of a pet, or milk produced by a pet.

Its a variation of the cornucopia.... this is a more "traditional" one. They are usually filled with fruits, veggies & flowers that are popular during the Fall season...apples, corn, gourds, grapes, Mums, Asters...that kind of stuff.

Tur-Duck-In is great. The best part is that you can pick and choose which meats you get.

Well my parents have been divorced for some time now, so we usually have Thanksgiving dinner with my mom the night before thanksgiving and on the day of thanksgiving we go to my dads. The Dinners are the usual turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes and Sweet potatoe casserole, cranberry sauce and we mustn`t forget the tons of pies and pasteries!
