Could Star Wars fans be the ultimate winners...

of the Disney v. Universal duel?

Let's face it, no addition would have the universal appeal of an entire Star Wars/Lucas land at DHS. Disney would absolutely destroy WWoHP with a land like this.

So, let's have fun. What do you think the chances are? Me, I'd give it 35% – the economic impact would be enormous but the asking price from Lucas may be too much and Disney may be too cheap.

We just recorded an episode of our show (this will be out on Sunday) where the possibility of a Star Wars "land" is hinted at.

I've heard murmurs of a Lucasland section in the past and it's definitely intriguing.

If a Star Wars land did exist it would destroy Potterville. I would love to see just because i want to eat in the Cantina.

My sentiments exactly - at least while Lucas is alive. I could see whoever takes over his estate willing to do something with the fortune he'll leave them.

Oddly enough, I don't think Lucas would be the hold-up in this. His past experiences may have soured him, but from what I have read, he was more than willing to help in the initial Star Tours planning and even helped design a vastly different version of Alien Encounter than the one we received.

Disney may not want to deal with him for exactly the same reason it was hestitant to deal with JK Rowling - the amount of creative control he would want to exercise.

Not to mention the fact I'd rather not have a Star Wars area heavily focused on this Clone Wars crap they keep pushing anymore. If that's what it'd end up being, I'll pass.

Could be worse. They could basing the whole thing around these guys.

Although to be quite honest if Disney were to do a SW land based on anything outside of the Empire Strikes back I have a feeling SW fans would be wining like a 4 year old that has been told "no" to ice cream.

A Star Wars land would be huge! I know so many people that are such devoted fans of the franchise. I'm a bigger fan of Star Trek myself, but I still would enjoy something like this. A Star Wars land would probably be a very expensive undertaking for Disney though. All the technology that would go into making it a worthwhile attraction would have greater costs than they are mostly likely willing to incur, at least for awhile.

A Star Wars land would be amazing, but like a former poster said, some of the stuff may be the stupid Clone Wars stuff. I hope if there is a land, then it should be evenly based off the six episodes. It would definatley kill Potter. A lot of kids at my school hate Potter and so do a lot of other people. Star Wars is more widely accepted like the OP said.

Thats my point - he's a big control freak about Star Wars which is why we have Episodes 1-3. He wouldn't listen to differing opinions ("Uh, hey George - do you really think we should keep this Jar Jar guy as a main character?"). Once he's out of the way we'd have people more willing to work out something reasonable.

Would it be based on the originals or the horrible re-releases?

Obviously I'd rather see the originals but I'm willing to go with a mix as long as its tied together well. I mean there were a couple redeeming factors in the prequels like Ray Park and Samuel L. Jackson. Outside of the Jedi themselves it basically was all crap. But now we're getting into a different fan site alltogether. :)

My reactions to an announcement like that would be:

"Harry Potter!? What is that Wizarding World you speak of?!"

While the new trilogy is poor on dialogue, writing, directing and acting I don't think any of those factors affect their potential as fantastic themed areas.

I don't expect it will happen.

If it will, I will move to Orlando and simply hand over to Disney my bank account. :sohappy:

I can't belive Disney has been sitting on a 'Lucas partnership', if that term is appropriate, for 25 years and has never exploited it to the fullest.

And who is Harry Potter?
