Could Star Wars fans be the ultimate winners...

Star Wars

I would love to see it. A Star Wars land at DHS would be something that would increase attendance. We all know they need that. I will go once or twice WWOHP, but that we be it. They need something else at DHS to got me there, TSMM and TOT is not enough for me or my family to spend a day at DHS.

Anyway...not sure if those are the type of people (Star Wars Fanatics) I want to see hanging around my favorite park on a regular basis! I already avoid the place like a plague on SW Weekends! :dazzle:

I really do not know why I am defending them as I can not stand most Star Wars fans.

Agreed. A lot of them won't let you get away with even ONE slip up of any movie or book. I've tried to avoid the books as much as possible. But I randomly decided to look up on Google one day if there was ever any more of Yoda's species in the SW Universe and I found a female character that was. And my one friend argued with me up and down that there was never such a thing until I showed him the webpage. :ROFLOL: Now I had never heard of the character until I was looking it up randomly but he was denying it as if it didn't get cleared with him first by the SW gods.

You would be referring to Yaddle. My Wife actually used her as her avatar for her brief existence on this site.

haha...

The day Star Wars fans surpassed Star Trek fans on the ridiculous/obnoxious scale was a great day!

Being both a SW and a ST fan I would have to say it is a tie. The only difference is ST fans worship the late Gene Roddenberry where as SW fans as a rule would like to do very bad things to George Lucas.

This is true...and we still harbor pretty good feelings towards Rick Berman as well even after Enterprise (which wasn't a HORRIBLE show). JJ Abrams is the only one fans have some issues with...who cares if he erased 5 syndicated TV Shows and 10 movies from the official Star Trek time line with his one movie?

I guess that's the big difference between the franchises, there are a couple authors who regularly write ST books but ST never officially endorsed the books as part of the timeline of events and the fans never held them in high regard...I've read maybe 20-25 of them but most of the stories were pretty forgettable. How is it that the hundreds and hundreds of Star Wars books became part of the gospel? And does Lucas acknowledge them???

Personally I liked the fact that Abrams erased all of that history. It effectively rebooted the franchise and made it to where I could look forward to a new movie. I think if I had to hear another guy complaining about a contradiction between a TOS and a Voyager episode I would have wound up in jail for murder.

From my understanding Lucas's opinion on the books is as such. He regards them as canon but he will ignore them if he feels like it.

Star Wars fans are no worse than any other rabid fan base, be they Disney fans, a fan of a sports team, or anything else. The only difference is the superficial classifications that people put on them.

Star Wars is fantasy Star Trek is Science Fiction...love them both but you cannot compare...and as far Rick Berman, he is wanted for the murder of Capt. James T. Kirk for that lame unforgivable death scene in Generations

Now let's talk Howard the Duck & Willow....

ehh....i would say that SW has turned into fantasy...the original trilogy was definitely strictly Sci-Fi... I would still say they're pretty comparable though...esp now that SW has the Clone Wars TV show...

oh yeah...and Howard the Duck... haha

A SW land...I would be misty eyed if not almost completely hysterical to have such a thing!

They should just retheme the whole are to be Mos Eisley. The Star Tours part shows you other parts of the galaxy, Cantina restaurant, maybe an Imperial base with a Empire Recruitment program attraction. It could have mini attractions in there like TIE Fighter pilot simulators, AT-At Driver, etc. Guests could try each one and compare their scores to see which job they are suited for.

Yeah, I think I'd like a Star Wars Land.

Expanded universe is the exception - but if you notice, Lucas doesn't even pay lip service to anything created by the authors. For instance it was accepted long ago into the canon that the Death Star was designed at the Maw Installation not on Geonosis. Lucas decided that HE wanted it designed in this convenient location for Attack of the Clones and poof - goodbye hard work of Kevin Anderson.

Sorry guys, way off topic here. I'm going to take a page out of Yoda's book and stick to Disney comments.

It may have been started on Geonosis, but once the Jedi found out about them there, they moved production to a more secure location. The Maw cluster.

and Yes I am completely 100% in favour of a star Wars Land. Maybe Lucas and Disney can build a star Wars Theme park here in Canada :)

I think Pixar fans would be the ultimate winners- perhaps, Radiator Springs Racers? Sounds cool to me.

I hope not!!!!! I want DCA to have something unique and I would much rather have them use the RS tech to upgrade Test Track!

Beat me too it...with Disney dumping the Narnia franchise I think that sealed the deal for no more presence in the parks. It was a shame too because it was one Fantasy franchise that I actually enjoyed watching. I don't have any interest in Potter or Lord of the Rings.

Star Trek Theme would be so much fun. We could have one ride for encountering the Borg, one for the Klingons, maybe guided by Q???

Anyway, finally something we agree on Figgy! DS9 is my favorite series...I think they really reached a high point with story-telling on this one. I grew up with Voyager so I also hold that in high regard... However, personally I'd rank them as DS9, TNG, VOY, TOS, ENT.

Abrams definitely brought new life to the franchise, but for anyone who thinks he finally made the series interesting is missing the point of the show...its not all about Sci-Fi thrills and explosions (or atleast not originally)!!!!

Everyone knows I don't give any regard to Uni's HP Land... But if we were getting the Battlestar Galactica attraction(s) that are going into Universal Studios Singapore...than I would definitely be whooping and hollering and cheering all the way AND I would be at the gates of the studios on opening day! Talk about a franchise reborn and done right! Not to mention they wouldn't need a licensing agreement since that is already owned by them. So for all of you who say I have Disney blinders on yada yada yada....my distaste for Potter has alot to do with personal taste for the actual franchise.

Anyway...to conclude. Star Trek to WDW and Battlestar to Uni Orlando would make me a very happy Central Florida Resident!! :sohappy:

It was bound to happen sooner or later :D But imo DS( had the best stories and developed the characters far better than any other series.

I would LOVE a Starwars land as well. I really dont think it will happen anytime soon though. And I will 2nd keeping anything clone wars or prequels out.

With the continual downgrading of the Star Wars brand, Disney may be better off looking at another idea. Although if SWTV ends up being better than the prequels???

Opinions are different guys, lots of people like to slam the prequels and Clone Wars online. But try talking to kids in person and you'll hear a very different story. There are a lot of them who prefer the prequels over the originals, I've actually been told that by some that they'd like to see the originals remade.

Not to mention that the Clone Wars series has been a big hit and is keeping SW alive until the live action series comes out.

Maybe these aren't your cup of tea, that's fine, but there's a lot who do enjoy the films/series. That said, I don't see any Clone Wars attraction being made since its only a breif time in the overall story. I think it will stay more OT with some prequel locations so as not too alienate any groups of fans.
