Could Soarin be changed to UP

I specifically came on this site just now to say that a Soarin' type attraction would be perfect for UP.

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

That being said, Soarin' is fine the way it is...but over at Pixar Place, a Soarin' type attraction using Up as the theme would be incredible. Maybe add a little "spice" to it with an air-battle between your "house" and the zepplin and the dog pilots.

I, for one, thought that Up was a fantastic movie. My new Pixar list goes like this.

Wall*E
Finding Nemo
Up!
Cars
Toy Story 2
Ratatoiulle
Monsters, Inc.
A Bug's Life
Toy Story
The Incredibles

What spoilers?

Maybe instead of refurbing Soarin' they could just improve on the technology, like other people have mentioned...making it HD or 3D or both and create a new experience for Up...there's a lot of wasted space at Epcot if they wanted to do it there or they could do it in another park.

I think of it like Buzz Lightyear vs Toy Story Mania...the concepts are the same but it's a different experience

Soarin' is great as it is. I think a better way to utilize Up would be to make a simulator kind of like Star Tours, but more advanced. Have the seating (or standing?) area look like the inside of a house with lots of windows. Go through many different scenes from the movie where......

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

The house goes through the rainstorm, Carl pulls the house and it bumps along, the fight with the dog pilots, etc.

END SPOILERS END SPOILERS END SPOILERS

I think it could be a really fun ride, especially if they utilize some new technology. Kind of like a mix between Star Tours and Twister and Universal.

I know I'm in the minority, but I didn't care for Up at all. I just thought it was so obscure that it crossed the border from being creative to just being random and hard to relate to. Carl had a great setup and the beginning was wonderful, but I thought the adventure itself was lacking (just like Wall-E). The animation wasn't Pixar's best either. The jungles in the Incredibles looked much better, and Paradise Falls didn't have that "wow" look that the waterfall in Radiator Springs did. The dogs all looked wierd except for Dug.

Needless to say if they ever redid Soarin' to be themed to Up, I'd shoot myself. The last thing we need is another half-baked Pixar attraction.

PotC, IASW, and Splash I'll give ya. But JC is self propelled gas boats that do not have track edges on the sides of the boats. I wouldn't really call it the same at all.
On PotC you get on a boat and look at stuff...On IASW you get on a boat and look at stuff....on Splash you get on a boat and look at stuff and finally on JC you get in a boat and look at stuff. While the vehicles do vary from ride to ride in heart they are the same thing....a boat. What really varies is what you look at and the story that is told. That is what makes 4 rides that use essentially the same ride system vastly different attractions. The same could be true of a Soarin clone and the great thing is that it could quickly be changed out to fit another theme or story. As long as the pre-programed motions stayed the same it could be done almost over night. If they were to do this at Pixar place each new Pixar movie could have its own attraction on the day the movie hits theaters and it could be changed out when the next Pixar movie came out and so on.

Could it? Sure.

Should it? No.

i agree one hundres percent with master yoda...why would you replace soarin...everyone loves it...now if it was over florida i would enjoy that change...but if u changed it to UP...not taking away from the movie...but that would just be really dumb to destroy the entire point of epcot...NO CHARACTERS

I'm starting to like the idea of a Soarin'-style attraction at Pixar Place (maybe a 3/4-d one?). To fit in with the whole "Studios" theme, what about something like I mentioned before--theme the queue like you are taking a tour of the Emeryville HQ of Pixar with a "sneak peek of coming attractions" at the end that is the actual ride.

On top of that, aren't all of the things computer-controlled? How hard would it be to have multiple shows that are randomized? One time you ride it, you are a bug in Bug's Life. Another time, you are flying in a house. Personally, I could ride Soarin' 10 times in a day and not get tired of it, BUT multiple randomized shows would potentially give the ride even more re-ride value. Since the theme would be studio based and not necessarily based on the show that you see, they could be randomized/changed out quickly without compromising the theme of the queue, etc.. I think something like that could give a much-needed boost to the DHS portfolio...

Soarin is a wonderful ride as is, messing around with it would be foolish. Besides, its still the most popular ride on property, I seriously doubt they would mess with it.

The dogs didn't look weird to me. As soon as I saw them, I said that's a Doberman, that's a Rottweiler, that's a Bulldog. I think they did a good job finding some of the most vicious dogs and did a nice job of animating them.

Anyway, I enjoyed the movie. I felt like the story was good. I liked the way the adventure part was more for the kids, but the underlying story was more for adults. It was really good.
