Could Mr. Toad's Wild Ride ever come back...?

Honestly I dont want a copy of the Disneyland ride. We are in the 21st Century and we dont want cardboard figures eventhough its something they seem to like in Anaheim. I agree that its a fun ride, but I think its nice to keep it unique to Disneyland, where its original ride was made. One thing however, if they were to create something like a mr.toad ride in wdw it should be someting like this:http://www.ericscalesportfolio.blogspot.nl/2009/01/mr-toads-motor-mania-overall-layout.html
That would fit very perfectly if it ever opened along with New Fantasyland.

This idea is amazing. Just pure amazingness. It's kinda like a sequel to the first ride, and it truly captures the true 'Motor Mania' of the original. I guess your right about the plywood, Disney would never use it anymore, it's way to old. They could use animatronics like the ones from the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
That guy deserves to become an imagineer. We need more people like this guy to think up on a future WDW attraction.

You know what's weird though? This past trip (got back on the 22nd), on the way into the Magic Kingdom by bus, one of the songs they played was "The Merrily Song" both from the ride and movie. Also, I bought a Mr. Toad pin and T-Shirt-this could (and probably is) all be coincidental for sure, but it struck me as very odd. Mr. Toad has always been one of my favorites-and really, if they just remove that Speedway-they could give us Alice, Pinocchio, and Toad, with likely room to spare.
They played the same song when we we're heading to the Magic Kingdom on bus during out Senior Trip months ago.

I enjoyed reading this thread. I can't remember if I ever rode Mr. Toad, but I have fond memories of 20k Leagues and was devastated when we went one year and I saw that the sign that it was closed for renovations. Unfortunately it never reopened. Would I love to ride it again, sure...I can always go to Disneyland, but I'm not upset that it closed. I'm very happy with the new Fantasyland and would not want 20k back. The one thing that will never change is change itself. WDW is always going to be changing things up. 10 years from now, things will most likely be very different. Heck, by the time my 2 year old is in high school, she's going to be like, "what was Test Track?"

I'm never popular when I say this, but, I calls them as I sees them. There is no comparison between 20K and Mr. Toad. Mr. Toad was a straight off the shelf carnival fun house ride. Sure it had a different theme, but, the feel was the same as any roadside show ever seen. I know a lot of people have fond memories and I suspect that they were quite young when they saw it and it just left a memory of perfection in place because they had no concept of "cheap" at the time. I hated it and even though the first time I saw it, I had no real knowledge of Disney Theme Parks, but, from the first moment I took my girls on the ride all I could think was... how did this ever pass muster and get a place in the park.

Oh, and by the way, rumor has it that in Disneyland the subs will be sailing off into the sunset with the new Star Wars addition to the park. Go soon!

Now I have never been on the original Mr Toad dark ride (I wasn't alive back then) but have heard from many people that it is one of the greatest Disney dark rides ever and that they want it back. Here are some good reasons why they should bring it back someday:

- It would be very cheap to build. Just a Fantasyland show building and some cardboard cutouts.
- It is very popular in Anaheim.
- WDW's 50th is coming in a few years, and it was one of the original rides. Maybe they could bring it back on October 1st 2021.

What do you guys think? Will the classic wild romp through places like towns, farms and Hell ever come back, or will it stay dead?

We'll never see a ride that involves a bar, prison and hell at Magic Kingdom again. As an original attraction it has it's rightful place in Disneyland. The last thing I would want to see is some sort of silly uber kid friendly version of Mr. Toad brought to MK, because that's the only way it would be brought back.

Enjoy it how it is supposed to be at DL (the superior Magic Kingdom). I'm sure it'll get a Alice in Wonderland style refurb within the next few years along with Snow White and Pinocchio.

Not happening. For Star Wars Land at least.

While I never rode the one at WDW. I miss the AAs that we're at the WDW version and had two rooms.

I guess it depends on what you like...it's all relevant. Mr. Toad's Ride may not compare to 20k leagues in your opinion, but to someone else...they may prefer Mr. Toad's over 20k or any other ride. I'm not showing favoritism towards anything, just stating that change is the only constant.

I guess I'll never get to ride in another sub because I won't be going out to DL any time soon lol.

Oh, I guess it was an OK ride, but, from my perspective it failed. You have to remember that it was my first trip to WDW. I was completely enamored by the place from the moment that I got on World Drive and got the radio announcements about where I was and where I was going. I stood there slack jawed at all the animatronics, be it CoP or Country Bears or the Tiki Room. I was completely taken and then I went on Toad. It seemed like such a let down to me. Nothing of the face full of technology that I was seeing everywhere else. The plywood cutout scenery and day glow/ black light affect left me disappointed. I'm not all that impressed with Pooh either, but, I never shed a tear when the Toad was removed from the swamp.

Crap...now that I'm thinking about it...I'm starting to miss the sky ride haha.

The thing I remember about Mr Toad is this: People complained when it shut down like crazy, but the last two years it was open it was a total walk on. My wife and I rode it twice before it was shut down and both times we were the only ones on the ride. It had run it's course and was no longer popular which is why it went away, but for some reason, people seem to forget that.

I'm not forgetting it. I understand why they closed the attraction. I don't think it was a bad decision. But I still thinking giving it a nod with a new ride with Toad would be a smart choice and it's precisely because of the nostalgia that you mention. I really do think that there is something about retro stuff that people gobble up with a spoon.

No. Mr. Toad is dead. The Haunted Mansion confirms it.
