Could it be facts prove Star Wars is just not the draw is used to be?

When to Hollywood Studios trice last week.

Ride lengths
"Toy Story Mania" 1 1/2 to 2 hours
"Tower of Terror", "Rock and Roll Roller Coaster" over and hour.
"The Great Movie Ride" about 30 minutes

Blacklot Tour, Muppets filling up.
All the shows (except America has Talent) were packed

So it Star Wars still has the draw why basically could II walk in both day?
The line says 10 to 15 not queues .... just board an watch the next show.

The thing is, it's the complete opposite at Disneyland, where Star Tours consistently has 45+ minute wait and MuppetVision is pretty much dead at Disney California Adventure.

Huh?
Do you mean Star Tours had short lines?

Well, for one Star Tours has a huge capacity in Orlando.

Second, the ride, even though it was upgraded, is still a decades old simulator attraction that doesn't hold the same draw for people as they used to.

Good points. Star Tours opened at DHS a couple months after the park opened so has been there longer then most of the rides you mention, and it opened in Disneyland two years before DHS opened.

SWW still packs them in!

DL has less simulators then DHS . They probably have the same popularity on both coasts. Muppets not so much.

Sigh.

Star Wars is still incredibly popular. You can't base global popularity on a ride that can pack 'em in like this one does.

I bet *if done right* whenever Star Wars Land is announced, the fans will crap their pants. It will be a HUGE draw. And I'm far from a hardcore Star Wars fan.

JMO.

Aren't Star Wars Weekends (I've only been to one) incredibly popular?

They are insanely popular.

Can't the Muppets theater also pack 'em in?

Granted, I love the Muppets but I've seen Muppet*Vision so many times it really is time for an upgrade. I'd assume popularity wanes on that one. You can't base popularity on long-running, known brands, on ride attendance, IMO.

I don't know one equates to the other necessarily.

Outside of Orlando Star Tours 2.0 wasn't promoted properly as a new ride which hurt its buzz. There aren't many theme park vacationers on the eastern half of the United States that aren't aware of its existence for the past 20+ years. Without properly promoting it as something completely new, which it isn't, it is hard to generate much of anything.

It also doesn't help that the park itself is lagging, and while people are visiting - they aren't staying. Because of the Florida version's higher capacity it handles the peak pretty well.

Lastly, there isn't anything else there to hold the Star Wars fan except a gift shop that has been there since I can remember. So... nothing new = nothing new in many people's eyes.

There is still lots of fervor surrounding Star Wars. Just watch what happens to a website when they post anything with "Episode VII" in the title...

According to Wikipedia, Muppets seats around 570 and runs 17 minutes. So figuring in load and unload time that's at most two shows and hour, which is 1140 per hour, still less then half of Star Tours capacity.

We were there for SWW back in May and the crowds were insane. It was a madhouse there. I think most people at SWW are there for the SW experiences they can't get every other day of the year. ST is always there. They can always ride that. But the different guests that are there, parades, shows, etc.. are not there year round so I think those things draw more people than ST does. I think a SW land would be HUGE for DHS.

I thought so. How could they not be?

Anyone have typical attendance figures? I'm just curious. I'd love to know just for the sake of knowing. Though it might not be something that's released?

I'd love to know as well, but you could walk from the entrance of the park to Star Tours on people's shoulders. It is crazy!

Since Disney does not release attendance figures is is impossible to give exact numbers, but you will have people lining up for the autographs around midnight and it is not uncommon for the lines at opening to extend to the security check. I know that they also had to use overflow parking several times this year.

If Disney does actually build a full blown SWland with an E-ticket, a couple of D's, restaurants and stores, a opening crowd similar to PotterLand would not surprise me.

Star Tours is just an OLD attraction. I had no idea they even updated it, prior to my last trip. I just thought like always, "let's get on old Star Tours". It wasn't until I saw Stacey with her Must Do's that I was aware it had been updated.

Star Tours isn't a great ride. I'm sure it is a great deal of fun for Star Wars fans, but I've been on it maybe three times since the re-do. After the first one, I had no desire to re-ride and have only done so for others.

If an attraction is good, it won't need Star Wars to help it. If the attraction isn't good, Star Wars will only get the Star Wars fans on the thing...but won't help a ton.

The Star Tours queue is cute. :)
