Cost vs Comfort...(no riff-raff please)

Howdy Everyone,

Were getting ready to plan our next WDW trip and in the past we stayed at Coronado Springs and Riverside. Both were great but Riverside was much better. Our next trip we were thinking of staying at one of the value resorts so we can visit for a longer stay.

Were just curious what the noise level is like at night at the value resorts vs the Moderate Resorts. I guess it really depends on each resort but I know for a fact that Riverside and CS were both really silent at night and seemed very secluded.

What's everyone's feelings on value vs moderate. Because after a long day in the park I would rather be able to sleep and not here kids running around all night. Do the value resorts get a lot of "riff-raff"

or maybe the extra moo-laa (cash-oh-la) is worth it for the Moderate.

Thanks
Tim

The rate I posted was for teachers, Nurses and Government employees only. Do you fall into any of those catagories?? Within the Disney resorts no discounts have been released for any of those dates thus far!!! Keep an eye out for any posts by Pam or myself regarding any discount offers that are made public!!! No matter what you do, make sure your room is NOT by the pool!!! We just stayed at the All Star Movies in January and the kids by the pool are nuts! They were screaming till midnight without a parent in site. I eventually looked outside and there was a security guard standing there. So I went out and asked why there was screaming at midnight when quiet hours start much earlier. I'm not an old "fuddy-duddy" either, I'm only 28. However, when I hear yelling from my room and it's midnight....I get a little perturbed. So again, stay away from the pools!!!!!!!!!!!!!

noise?

 We stayed at WL once and had people slamming doors all night. we stayed at POR and had people running suitcases up and down the cement all the time. You will hear peoples toilets flushing, etc. wherever you stay in value or moderate resorts. We stayed at Pop Century and loved it, except we got a first room on a row of rooms and they went all hours running up and down and pulling suitcases by our room. Didnt like that. I finally bought some ear plugs and that solved everything. In most resorts, you can turn on the heater or fan and that takes care of most of the noise. At Pop, however, they have quiet heating and cooling. You just set the thermostat so that doesnt help on noise. Just request a room away from pools, etc. I am so grateful to be at the World I really dont care if I stay in a tent!!

It's partly dependent on when you are going. If you end up going during the Pop Warner events, cheerleader event or similar, then you may encounter more noise at the All Stars. They try to lump them into groups, but we still had a couple of times when noise was an issue. A call to the front desk and it was taken care of quickly.

For Pop Century... never had a problem with noise!

Enjoy your planning!

All Star Sports during Pop Warner week in early Dec. = lots and lots of noise!

We've been to AASp several times and had no problems until Warner. Hundreds of teens running around until 1 a.m. every morning. Never again!

Does the Dolphin and Swan resorts have the same benefits of disney resorts? As in do you get bus services, transportation from the airport?

We are booked in the middle of June at POR. My wife is a nurse. I was just wondering what this was you were talking about and if we are able to take advantage if everthing is already paid for?

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff, If you are outside of the 45 day window, you can still cancel your vacation with no penalty. I would seriously look into the prices at the Swan/ Dolphin before you made any move. I do believe they were quite a bit more expensive, than POR. Also take into account the Swan and Dolphin are NOT a themed resort such as the rest of the Disney on site resorts are. That might make a difference to you as well. Belle

I have found that the Value level is noisier in general than any of the others. I am sure that higher occupancy does have something to do with that. Also the food court area in the morning has always struck me as very loud in the Values. The Moderates can be very quiet but you still have people being a little loud outside as they walk by your room sometimes but so far the absolute quietest resort I have stayed at was the Beach Club!! Belle

I agree with Belle on this. I noticed that the noise level was higher at the values.......especially in the food court, like she said. Also, the longer you are staying, the more comfort and quiet you want and need. The price difference really isn't that much anyway. I'd definitely go with a mod over a value.

Riff-Raff????

I just don't get this. They have checkpoints coming into the resorts. All of the resorts are the SAFEST place on property. You are in for MUCH more trouble just being at the parks -- or the very ghosttownish TTC than at any of the resorts... value or delux. Actually -- what reason would people actually have to visit the value -- so they may be even safer. how many people could easily just hop off the monorail and could slip into the poly at any time. Values pretty much have only THE GUESTS FROM THE VALUE THERE... and they are always people very greatful to be at WDW.

white-trash, parents that don't watch their kids, letting them run around like complete idiots, slaming doors, yelling/screaming....that's riff raff. And it's not something that anyone should have to witness at 2:00am because of parents lack of parental guidence. I'm not saying you get this at value resorts...hell you could get this at the GF...but I'm sure it would take two seconds for managment to stop it at GF.
