This is true but do you think WDW is 3,000 percent better today than it was in 1971 ?
No, not 3000% better. Tough to quantify 'better', though.

If it's roughly $100 to get into the MK today, and everything were otherwise equal, I'd spend $40 to get into the 1972 version of it. I spent roughly $40 at an amusement park (Playland) a couple years ago when I was visiting my hometown... seemed about right for the attractions available. I don't know what Playland cost when I was going there as a kid so I don't know what the % increase has been since then.

In 1973 the MK blew away Playland. In 2021 even more so. I believe Playland has nearly gone out of business a few times too, which would have been a shame.

It’s hard to get into wdw for $100 a day now…so the math is off.

and the reason I point that out is they have methodically yanked the “affordable” admission characteristics…extended hours, discounts for longer tickets, annual passes that turn to advantage quickly…

people don’t really notice it much….but its there.

you basically have to pay full price (if not a Florida resident) to go for 4 days…and they don’t kick in the hoppers on the cheap…and they shut the parks down early and resell them for an additional days fee (or more)…

it’s a “total package” kinda price push. Bobs are great

After reading The SW resort is 6 grand for 4 adults I was thinking maybe thats not that bad a price if its a grand to take four to the Christmas party. Thats when I realized that the pricing at WDW is truely mind numbing.

For the UK and Brazilian guests, the Orlando Premium outlets and the FL Mall is a shoppers dreamland.
Not so much anymore with the weak pound , crazy airfare and insane hire car prices. Might as well go to dlp and Amazon. And still save cash.

And that’s sad…because nobody goes there anymore…it’s too crowded 😂
I've shopped there when visiting. One of the Brazilians on vacation advised / was buying clothes, sneakers etc in bulk to resell in their home country to the well-to-do. It is handy there are luggage stores nearby since that business does a brisk business too.

…I’m aware of the scheme…

…don’t worry…eventually bezos will plow his own roads/get drones so they won’t have to bother there either 👍🏻

Lol, I must have misses the class in business that a company is required to make its product available at a price point everyone is comfortable with.

Entitled mindset
If I can't afford it =company is greedy
If everyone can afford it=company is cheap.

Okay so for the sake of arguments let's say the company is greedy. Is there some business amendment that says a company is not allowed to charge what the market can bare (lol or is it bear)?

I don't care so much about Disney, as a former small business owner and many family members who own businesses I simply reject this attitude that anyone has to make their product affordable for anyone.

If Disney prices itself out of the market, it will know it real quick
I was just pointing out what it used to cost. I agree as a business Disney can charge whatever they want ---people can decide if it's worth it

Will it?

At some point they're going to run out of people who have banks willing to let them get into debt for a Disney vacation.
Maybe then people will give some of the parks out there a chance. This past summer I did notice regional parks were busier more then normal.

As with other threads that complain about cost, I have argued heavily that increased cost will actually increase crowds.
There are statistical studies on this, but the basic concept is people will buy now, in fear of paying an even higher cost in the future. This is true for Disney, which historically continues to raise cost and reduce value over time, leaving the option to travel now, regardless of how high the cost seem today, in fear that in the future it will cost even more. Only a reduction of attendance, (which is a contradiction to the current environment) will bring any changes the other way.
