News Cost Cutting Measures Coming Early 2025

We could reduce 75% of this thread if people understood the difference between operational cost cutting and capital expenditure.

How did we escalate from they are reducing kitchen staff to Tropical Americas is in trouble?

The last real significant tightening (during normal times) was 2015 against Shanghai. It really did nothing to WDW's capital expenditure plan. Quarterly belt tightening is pretty normal when we know they are having a soft 2 quarters followed by improved metrics post Epic..
WDW will continue to cut operational costs and I suspect the Tropical Americas project will be subject to cost cuts along the way.

Just like the cost cuts made to Toy Story land, galaxy’s edge and the awful EPCOT future world transformation.

Yes, maybe.

But it’s not the topic of this thread. If someone wants to validate it and start another thread I’m sure I’ll jump in.

Even Walter thinks 4/5 of the major projects are going to occur. That's practically unbridled optimism.
But Walter also takes the pattern and bad situation into account and realizes that this is very suspect to tons of chicanery

For instance: no real timelines…
So who’s gonna be in charge to account/answer for the money

The answer is Bob…but if he sees a ripcord to coward quit again…he will. Then new person becomes the human shield.

The worst thing about “rumors” is people continue to believe things that aren’t required to be true…and then to compartmentalize all the details in an attempt to win (a loser) argument

Again, some of us enjoy the earlier look at things but even if they waited, that still wouldn't prevent a budget running over and modifications being made.
The next step is leading to people promoting it in echo chambers and giving license to the implication of “proper investments”

“It’s gonna cost you more every six months…but coming 2030…”

I am not sure if you are really that confused on how the market works or just trying to be cute? Tesla is an amazing stock, not so great of a company.
Understanding that a particular stock has massively underperformed the market for going on 4 seems to be a very difficult concept…

…but I’m sure all investors are wrong and D+ will make those trillions soon 👍🏻

It’s important to note, we’re currently up 2 show redos, an E-ticket overlay, a retracking, a playground and a major hotel complex from D23 for capital spend. A D23 a lot of you under-called to begin with.

I’m not looking for a clapback about what we’ve learned is closing, that doesn’t impact the capital expenditure that is still ballooning.

I’m sure there are going to be things not delivered upon in the next five years. Things some of you won’t let go of for at least 25. But we also need to hold some accountability on the other end that quite a few of you have been calling for capital expenditure slashes for a while now and we’re still trending quickly the wrong direction.

What don’t you understand about it’s a comic con?

Like is this really that hard? Been listening to too much fan fiction pods/vlogs lately.

The only thing that makes sense now is to judge results and timelines. Because if they take 7 years to do a “miniland”…or 4-5 to do a clone ride…it’s being done deliberately.

Let’s see

They’re losing business and about to take a market share shave (one of the only things that matter)…and where has there been a hint of urgency?

Legit question

Of course, I understand perfectly. You’ve just told us 4/5 major projects you think are happening in some of their various shades of awfulness. Which is probably 3 more than you’d care to have admitted 6 months ago.

Our positions are actually quite close to one another. I doubt everything is being rolled out as presented, because some of it was very fast and loose and early.

If you can answer for me why “comic con” swayed you so hard, you’ll actually find your answer you seek. We’ll find my position hasn’t changed that much, if you check the record.

I know we'd all like the circus to start and Disney to announce they're canning Cars and they brought back my dog from the farm upstate, but realistically they're gonna cut costs by like, switching food suppliers, cutting on custodial staff, cut hours for some attractions, shops and dining, etc etc. Nothing flashy that'll make us go into a frenzy but maybe stuff that'll harm a "good show" depending how far they go.

That’s been going on forever…whether they can blame an economic excuse or not
