Coronavirus impact on DVC

I have a November reservation, and was thinking of moving it to August to sort of have something to look forward to after all this but now I am worried about even late August.

We have a reservation in October still with 99.9% expectation it will be cancelled. And if it isn't, will we even want to risk it to go? Likely not.

There are zero models that don't show a second or even third curve. All historical references show this. And now we are seeing the rebound in asia happening already.

I did see they are refunding annual passes - may be worth doing if you have one then buying tickets later when you actually get to go...

The only thing FL has in their favor is hot and humid climate which coranvirus does not like at all. Makes it harder to transmit. Some friends in FL say their numbers are blamed on those traveling to the state as well. So there is a lot of interesting mentality there.

We have a June 1st date (I moved it 2 days to start on June). I know people were hired with a May start date. If it goes much beyond Memorial Day there is a problem. The rumor I hear is May for training and soft opening. June 1st is the legit start date they have in mind. It's too early to tell though. We'll have to wait until May I think to have an idea.

We can move to August at the latest but not beyond.

What are you talking about? The weather has nothing to do with this, that is the flu. This is not the flu. That is not accurate at all, it was a "wish" and a "hope" but not accurate. Tropical climates are having massive issues. Ecuador has bodies being left on the streets there are so many, the pacific islands and southern hemisphere is also getting hit - where it is hot, humid and middle of summer.

This is not an opinion or weirdly brought up out of no where. medical friends have pointed this out. Look at research done. Heat and humidity kill off coronavirus strands. I'm not sure why you are reacting so over the top to my comment. My comment was based on science. No need to get all dramatic. If you read you will see it dies off faster. Not that it's impossible to spread.

As an FYI I never said it was influenza so don't do that again please.

,

I can keep listing if you like. This does not mean in humid climates they will be free, the vurus just dies off faster. It would be irresponsible to make that jump. Proper hygiene is still required. No one is immune to it due to location.

SARS testing showed it to be that way as do other coronavirus strands. Due to the protein, it's more fragile in certain temps. It stayed very stable well in the temps sadly at the time of outbreak

Science is my friend.

Your one link doesn't work, and the second said nothing has been proven, still just a theory.
My response here is not an attack, I like the wishful thinking and it would be awesome if it opens June 1 fully, but I am pretty doubtful, we are learning more everyday about COVID..and it's not promising.
For one they don't know how long the virus can live on surfaces but with it seems it CAB live on plastic surfaces...for days, how the heck are you going to open a theme park with that?
Also, lets say humidity and heat does kill it...will the plan be to just turn off the air conditioning in WDW to create the conditions you are talking about, because inside areas will be the issue.

Sorry, links work for me. Not being snotty, just cannot help with it. Right now they are all theories though - nothing has been tested enough to prove enough. Even SARS took time to confirm what happened. . Looking at proven studies on coronavirus we need to know it can transmit it heat and humidity, it does off faster. Let me reiterate that it just dies off faster. Many viruses are this way, but not all. I think the norovirus is stable by comparison IIRC. The flu is not as stable either and yet knowing heat and humidity causes it to die faster (not kill it instantly either) it still affects parts of America like Puerto Rico.

Nothing in your link has much to do what I said through. We wash hand and remove boxes and bags from food delivery though to be safe.

The WHO agrees with you. Beware the “internet science with friends in the medical profession” out there.

Ha! Yes "medical friends". just like certain leaders friends told them it would "just go away in april when the weather is warm"

There is a nurse on here that thinks this is all made up and not really that broad, so not all "medical friends" know what they are talking about.

Not sure that disproves anything. The virus will die off on its own. Just not as stable in heat and humidity. Notice I am not just saying heat either. Humidity too. The SARS research noted this as well.

So it's not quite so simple as just heat.

We need to be cautious with this as it can transmit always. Just because something isn't stable in certain conditions doesn't mean it's impossible

Oh and I didn't miss the jab in quotes there either. My friends work in labs. Some of the same ones working to bring quick tests and ways to sanitize things. I trust them more than political figureheads who are wishy washy on what they say to meet whatever audience they are interviewed for. They are not doing "internet science" but the real deal that is working to save your life.

Don't care what people think tbh, I just don't like over the top reactions. Not all those who are researching agree on anything right now. Curves change. Projections change. Everyone is trying to find the answers. One known thing is that this is a coronavirus. While new, it's not 100% foreign. We have them all the time circulating. What is unknown is why some are getting so ill.

We have a way to go on knowing but people are researching so many things.

Guess you didn't scroll down on the WHO page.

COVID-19 virus can be transmitted in areas with hot and humid climates
From the evidence so far, the COVID-19 virus can be transmitted in ALL AREAS, including areas with hot and humid weather. Regardless of climate, adopt protective measures if you live in, or travel to an area reporting COVID-19. The best way to protect yourself against COVID-19 is by frequently cleaning your hands. By doing this you eliminate viruses that may be on your hands and avoid infection that could occur by then touching your eyes, mouth, and nose.

FACT: Coronavirus transmission in hot and humid climates

I’m wondering about that fall timeframe also...it should be completely logjammed - and currently appears to be - but that’s assuming this thing all but goes away by June and Disney restarts the operation almost to normal AND people begin to forget.

Many will be desperate to go...many likely scared away...where does the balance fall?

What happens when Halloween parties and/or food and wine is cancelled?

There were numerous cases in February in Australia...

Know anything about the Australian summer?

I'm done. You clearly cannot read what I said since I stated it can spread. It dies faster. Seriously I said that numerous times. So good night

Australia is going into winter right now. That's all I know. However for the last freaking time heat and humidty do not mean it cannot spread. Geez I am getting tired of saying that

Right now "internet friends that work in labs" information is about as accurate as a Disney Bus Driver. I mean even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile.

Maybe to you, but they are not internet friends to me. But again have a nice night. I don't care to argue with people I don't know at all.

Did you notice it said Humid? And that it directly contradicts what you said? I hope this exchange of information just helps people to look for accurate facts.
Just saw this. Read what I said. It refutes nothing i said. Good night though.

My point is this has been present/grown in warm conditions already and that means more than the assertion of “it dies when it gets warm”...which are the musings of a fool.

We don’t know what happen in the warm months...the spread will go down more than likely...but it won’t be killed by suntan lotion.

I said I will not argue with strangers again. Read my posts. It dies more quickly in heat and humidity. IT CAN BE TRANSMITTED STILL. Can I make that more clear? It's not foolish when it's being studied and research is showing like all coronavirus strands, it doesn't live as long in certain temps. Read the studies. It does not mean you cannot ignore warnings or that you cannot get sick where it is hot and humid. And killed by suntan lotion? Come on.

Seriously so confused why people do not read whole posts and arguing things that aren't said.

Please don't quote me again on this. I'm over it since people pick and choose what to read and twist it to be words I never said.

I would say late July/August maybe - but depends a lot on the florida numbers - they were SO late at locking things down their "curve" may be later - and expect an increase again after 30-60 days when things open....My guess is we may see the same level of cancellations in fall/winter.

We don't have a WDW trip planned as of now, but I am leery of planning anything for a while. WDW attracts people from all over and puts them all in very close proximity. As long as there are hot spots or outbreaks there is a pretty good chance somebody at WDW is a carrier. I am a bit more leery than others because of a family member that has immunity issues. Vaccines and naturally gained immunity don't work on my wife (basically she cannot retain antibodies, so if she gets a vaccine it lasts for a month - maybe). So herd immunity is pretty critical for us. I have a feeling WDW trips are going to be off the table until 2021 at least. I have to do some thinking about what to do with our DVC points.
