Your asking the wrong questions! Why the heck do so many people want the goverment and by extension "all tax payers" to get free this or that? Health care and education are by faf the most common things mentioned.
The question you should be asking yourself is why is it so expensive to begin with? If you plot tuition costs it really has sky rocketed (similar to disney ticket prices)

So you want tax payers to pay for the 80k education instead of wondering why its 80k in the first place?
Theres lots of factors but two big ones are.
1. The push for everyone to go to college even if they dont belong there. (This drives up attendance and demand) and well you know supply and demand things. (Schools need to keep growing) (limited slots mean they can ask for more sweet cash from daddy...or your 10 years of debt)
2. The ease and accessibility of student loans...this feeds directly into point one. Its the same economic theory that says if you hand out credit cards....credit card debt will increase. Schools know tjey can charge whatever because by and large you can get loans for whatever. (Thank you goverment!) So we have more college educated people than ever before (this is also why minimum requirements are skyrocketing for careers) BUT it costs more than ever before. If hypothetically lets just throw something at the wall...you could only finance 25% of your tuition on a studen loan and the rest would have to come from else where....i would bet a paycheck costs of tuition would start to tick down...now technically so wouldn't college enrollment period but alas going to college shouldn't dictate ones success in life....your character and moral compass and work ethic should.

I agree with you on the school. “Free” isn’t a requirement because it will ultimately devalue it.

As far as health care goes...I dunno...maybe I’m a cranky old dirty B...but the idea that people can’t receive medical treatment due to costs seems a tad scummy for the richest country in the history of the world (by a factor of 38 nautical miles)??

Libs don’t tend to dive deep and realize all the shared systems that the private/profit sector would never contribute to that society depends on...because it’s not all blatantly obvious...in my experience.

Something I have felt strongly for years is academia saying they have to pay more to get the best and all that does is foment wage inflation. Do we really need to pay 60K for an adjunct prof?
Same for the corporate world, managers say they want x% increase quarter over quarter leads to the disconnect between what the good costs to produce vs what the retail cost is. Madness and price inflation out of control.

Slightly back on topic, @Heppenheimer and those with medical backgrounds...

Obviously I know it will be awhile for me to vaccinate, since I am young, and in good health. Don't work in a high risk or medical setting; so that said, how will I know when it's my "turn"? Will my doctor call me? Will they announce that "anyone" can get a vaccine and you no longer have to be prioritized to get it (then i contact whoever and schedule)? Will I get a flyer in the mail? A dog with a banner running through the neighborhood? Will the police and Microsoft employees knock on my door and escort me to the re-education camp- er I mean local CVS?

Each state is going to have a different plan so it will be different everywhere. From the plans I have seen the states are keeping the initial phases of vaccination very controlled and limited to fewer sites where only people who qualify for the groups allowed to go in that phase get it. As time goes on and the vaccines get more readily available they will expand to more traditional distribution methods like CVS or your doctor’s office as long as they can handle the requirements of the specific vaccine. In the early stages CVS and Walgreens is being used for vaccination but they are sending technicians out to sites like LT care facilities vs having people come to CVS. Hospitals are doing their own vaccinations. At least by me the hospital is the hub where everyone goes so if you are a primary care doctor who works at an office outside of the hospital you go to the hospital you are affiliated with for your vaccine when it’s your time.

The thing that doesn't make sense is if he had Covid19 and in bad shape he would have been coughing and had a temperature. I knew right away when I got it and there is no way they would have let my fly.

If you go to WDW or anywhere by plane and get sick while you are there what are you going to do? Extend your stay to avoid flying while sick? Most people want to be home with family and near their doctor and people that can support them. I would guess the majority of people in that situation get on the plane and try to get home.

This is true. I just visited a friend who lost their spouse to covid. Both had it. My friend had nothing really other than minor sinus pressure. Literally no other symptom. So crazy, but there are likely many who are out with minor symptoms like that and no one would know.

And this is why everyone needs to stay the course/stay apart and do maximum precautions until we can clear the cases or immunize.

It’s not a standard set of symptoms and most don’t outwardly exhibit many of them. It’s not bronchitis or strep throat

It was beautiful - I'd highly recommend visiting. The hike up to Kjeragbolten is possibly my favorite hike we've done, though stepping onto the boulder is somewhat terrifying. (My wife in the picture

A friend of mine works at WDW and has Covid. He's 99% sure he got it at work (he works in a resteraunt there). Even worse, he was told to report back in 10 days, regardless of how he feels.

Almost twenty years ago I took my youngest niece to Disneyworld. I went all out and had the plan that including water recreation. So we went on a boat leaving the contemporary onto bay lake. We were to individually (at different times) strapped onto a kite and towed behind the boat, getting a sky view of the magic kingdom and the area.

Well I know I get a small amount of vertigo (I feel unstable) at heights [I tried to cure this once by standing at the edge of the cliff at Glacier Point in Yosemite years ago...did not cure it [Nor did I fall off].

But back to the boat kite at Disneyworld. The cast member strapping me into the kite said I would not feel vertigo at all, that you only feel that if you have pressure on your feet, and you won't when up high in the air in the kite. Well he was right, I did not feel any vertigo.

I cannot say for others, but rides like Soarin or Avatar Flight of Passage never cause me to get that feeling. Nor do airplane rides, whether civilian, private, or military.
