For people with a Christian faith, Easter is supposed to be the most high holy day of them all. And we canceled that.

A day for simply giving thanks would seem to be lower on the things we can do without, as much as it would hurt in the feels.

This even might wind up to be...

I just don't get why the recommendation to have very small gatherings / no gatherings at all means you can't celebrate. I'd celebrate with a turkey and trimmings, or on Christmas with a full spread, music, and gifts even if I was alone. I've seen suggestions all over the place to just completely skip the holidays this year and I truly don't get it. Why add to the depression that this year has brought?

This is like people who have said they couldn't do the things they liked to do all summer. Yes, I had to give up doing things I liked to do, but I found new things to do, or did things in new ways and still enjoyed my summer.

Mobile networks could give unlimited data on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year Eve and New Years day. Then promote using video chat apps to connect with everyone to celebrate.

And yet millions will comply out of fear.

Back to my original point, the study of our response, and to your point the various responses from the general public, will be fascinating and taking place long into the future. I'm curious how history will judge us.
It will be an interesting study for sure. I think ultimately what needs to be examined is why the US (a country with vast resources and medical facilities) faired so poorly compared to the rest of the world. When the dust settles I think there will be conclusions drawn and I don’t think it will paint the American response in a pretty light although not for the reasons you are suggesting. Not for too many restrictions or too much government overreach but for an overall failure to have a consistent plan and also from the prospective of the individual citizens lacking the will power and desire to do what it takes to get through this and sacrifice for the greater good. There will be plenty of time to study that. For right now we just need to hold the course, get people to comply with recommendations and survive long enough for an effective vaccine to (God willing) bail us out.

Just a fun Disney reference: Work meeting today to tell us about a website to do our Covid screening questions so we don't have to stand in line each morning. Go directly to temp check and show Green Status of questionnaire.
Plant manager referred to is as the equivalent of "fastpass" :D. Would not believe how many ppl knew exactly what he meant.
Edit. Meant Pass not lane

Fastlane is Cedar Fair’s skip the queue program, are you near any of those parks?

So true! My husband and I are celebrating together without extended family and we are actually looking forward to not spending the day driving from house to house, which had been our norm for the past 10 years. At 29 I finally get a relaxing holiday lol!

Because it is part of the fear mongering that is really coming from those shouting about fear mongering.

But Gavin Newsom really does hate Thanksgiving and Christmas and wants them to be removed from California along with all of the theme parks.

There's not much Disney can really do to prepare.
Many more people get the flu each year and go into the parks infected whether they know it or not and in turn infect others and the flu is pretty deadly.
Also the key population of who has passed away from the virus is older men who already had pre existing conditions particularly respiratory conditions usually from smoking.
Did you avoid Disney during SARS or H1N1 or Zika or Ebola....? If so then avoid Disney now. If not then don't avoid Disney.
Use common sense and wash your hands etc.
This is completely different. With the Flu, people have the choice of vaccination before they have to work in an exposed area. Please don't trivialize the deaths. 10% of deaths are people under the age of 50.

PSA: Cancelling Thanksgiving dinner gatherings is not the same as “don’t celebrate Thanksgiving” or “don’t be thankful.” Same with Christmas, which all Americans are still free to celebrate, just in a fashion modified to protect people from risk of exposure and slow the spread of the virus. These things may need to be modified and restricted, but they are not cancelable!
I'm going to enjoy not cooking for an army. I'm still cooking a full meal but it will be less stressful
