I just remembered another recent trial. Maybe he's looking for pig heart.

From Nature, which was the first Google hit.

This article didn't touch on a mechanical option, but even then that could be denied as not likely to be successful without vaccination. While the pig people are clearly experimental and they likely care less about longer term if they could show it wasn't their fault.
I would think, though, that the researchers would like to report significant long-term survival, otherwise, their research funding could dry up if they can't demonstrate a sustainable all-cause mortality benefit.

They went right to drains and would not presume elevators, stairwells or common areas? Even air ducts before drains.
You didn’t click through and read beyond what I posted did you?

They did not go “right to drains” and the tweet thread mentions the difficulty, in general, of proving stuff like this because of shared spaces. The study did extensive environmental sampling and only got to drains after other options (air vents) were not found to be the culprit.

Why do people assume that people who do this for a living wouldn’t have ruled out the stuff lay people would assume first?

Good summary of the past two years, sadly....

Someone was asking about transmission potential if people were on different floors. Discussion including studies about apartments in South Korea that came up on my Twitter today.

Reminiscent of the times when we were supposed to worry about ‘farts’ passing covid.

I don't think the post has anything to do with understanding studies, it is an even bigger problem where people never take the time to look beyond headlines and sound bites.

I think it’s all connected.

But I agree it’s also about not reading past a headline, and then blaming media for the headline they don’t read past…

Well that is harsh. I think it can be all of the above. I was making a commentary on the headline and punch, not the study. I am an Educator.

I am officially done here. It is too vicious.

Sorry, you are right. That was needlessly mean.

I apologize.

I am just very much over the brash jumps and conclusions, when the answer is accessible. I shouldn't take it out on you, I don't know you. It could be a simple mistake.

No sweat, and it is not just you. I think most people are reasonable and understand that science and the experts are doing their best. The minority of hate is always just the loudest and extreme.

And frankly, I get caught up and say rude things too. So I am certainly not immune to the same accident. Your honesty humbles me.

Thank you for the apology, that actually means a lot and shows that the majority are kind. I still need a hiatus so we don't have to listen to the hate from the confused of those that would only hate.

Take care.

Only for some.

The way I read it, @GimpYancIent is hinting that everyone should have a Mimosa with breakfast and red wine with dinner.

How many EPCOT countries can you drink at to reduce risk instead of increase risk? Clearly "all of them" is to many, but by how much? 🤔
If money hungry "Baldy and Co." was truly creative a Mickey Winery would be created, it's not that Disney does not have the acreage or the agricultural talent on payroll. A Disney wine tasting house in every park with Mickey Mouse labeled fine wines for sale. Disney fermented fruit juice that is good and good for you. Why not?

Sell the wine in limited edition Figment bottles and he'll be able to get $1,000 a pop for them.

Which, of course, means the price will be $2,000 next year.

So much for social distancing.

You may be joking, for those that take it serious and some will, that is off base.

"Correlation is not causation" means that just because two things correlate does not necessarily mean that one causes the other. ..

This is why from the start we have trouble for some people understanding science at all, correlating or extrapolating one thing to mean something else entirely ,when it simply doesn't.

What people should be getting from this instead of "So much for social distancing", is keeping the toilet open when flushing is not social distancing and keeping the lid closed is. Social distancing when I am out and about is different entirely. Lets say 100% everyone in an apartment building can can get Covid through a drain from a neighbor, that is no reason to stop social distancing.

What that kind of statement truly means is well, if I can get it that way why bother and that is simply wrong. It's already proven that there is validity to "Budgeting Exposure" and "Budgeting Exposure" is the best way for us all to go on with our lives. In other words if we can get Covid from drains that makes social distancing out of the home even more important, not less.

The study did specify that the drain traps were not functioning. That means that air is free to flow through the drain pipes. Also means sewage gases can come out as well so it probably doesn't smell great in those rooms.

Got the test kits today that were mailed out by the government today. Made in China by an Chinese owned company. Really? Can we not even make our own test kits?
That's what happens when US manufacturing capability gets decimated over decades.

Out of curiosity, where was the device you posted this from made?
