Noticed today Publix turned off their water fountains. A friend who works at Walmart says they did the same. Can anyone wager how many water fountains are on WDW property? Xtra points if you can guess how much it would cost to convert them all to those water bottle fillers ( i saw one @ galaxy edge iirc)
Why do you need to convert them? The soda fountains can all dispense water into cups. Just turn them off.

I've been to Publix. I 've only seen one. Maybe it was a fix that was on the schedule.

Long term they should convert them all to the bottle filling stations. That seems cleaner to me. For now I agree they should just turn them off.
I’ve a mind to think longterm and just like handshakes, maybe water fountains in their present form become a relic of the past. I am unsure how the bottle filling stations work. Can they be freestanding or do they always need to be against a wall?

Water fountains have grossed me out since I was a kid. The number of people (kids back then) that I saw put their mouth on the spout was very disturbing.

Both employees and customers wear masks. In situations where you can’t stay at least 6 feet apart (like checkout at a store) that’s the recommendation.
I said I'd wear a reverse hair net. Like, my face is wrapped up but hair is exposed. Then I realized that would be the equivalent of wearing a bag over your head and would cause many issues...like not being able to breath 🤣

Freestanding bottler fillers are available for purchase. Long term you have to determine if drinking fountains are a means of spreading disease and then change the building codes that require drinking fountains as they only make an exception for restaurants.

Is that legal? I thought water fountains were a requirement

Rumors are floating. .parks will stay closed for the rest of 2020.
Personally I find that the worst rumor, but...my feeling is its possible Disney will go that route, they cannot affotd a 50 billion dollar mass lawsuit.

If Disney is down past October expect it to go BK embroiled

That will be one Whopper of a turn of events.

My relatives overseas sends me pictures and videos from they are currently at where the recovered patients of COVID-19 are given an applause by the staff when they are discharged. I don't know if it happens in this country since the census here is 10x more than what other countries are experiencing.

Yes, they show someone like that every day, frankly it's a little tiresome. I'm glad that people are recovering, but it doesn't require a tickertape parade IMHO.

The State can pass a law absolving Disney of any liability related to COVID-19 as long as they abide by State guidelines. Similar to how Colorado law absolves ski resorts of any liability for injuries sustained while skiing or snowboarding. However, they can still be sued if a chair falls off a lift or something negligent like that.

I think the theme parks are a large enough driver of the state's economy (and by extension tax revenue) that they would do something like this if Disney said they couldn't open due to liability concerns.

I don't see it happening. Walt Disney World is a status symbol to Florida and a economic powerhouse to Orlando. There literally will be people (Regular citizens and government officials) begging them to open. Kinda puts Disney in a great situation to make deals.

Also economic lockdown and social distancing lasts only so long until it doesn't have many benefits. Vegas is planning on opening casino's, which are enclosed while theme parks aren't.
I agree the parks will reopen this year. I doubt it will be June 1st as planned. If I were to guess it would be fall sometime cause it will take that long to put the measures into place. Til this virus dies out or there is a treatment I doubt you will see fireworks, meet and greets or character dining.

I know it may seem trite but it a victory for the staff as well. It has been very discouraging with the constant PPE changes that you know are based on what the supply is and not what is safe for you. It makes it seem worth it when someone gets discharged to home and not the morgue.

Hong Kong’s casinos re-opened 2 months ago now. Still no sign of Hong Kong Disneyland opening. Different country and rules but no guarantee they open the same time. I do agree Disney could ask for the world from the state if they chose to go that way.

For anyone interested in how social distancing in casinos may work here’s a good article that lays out how they did it in Macao. Lots of the same measures talked about for Vegas. Limited capacity, health screenings to get in, masks for both guests and staff, only 1/3 of tables and slot machines open. They even had a person cleaning each poker chip as they were exchanged at a table. Business was also very slow and still mostly is. Things won’t just bounce back to normal even when open.

That just reminded me of the Snickers commercial
