yeah that is Extremely scary but when the world economy is in trouble it has an effect. The fact some countries are locking down production facilities is going to have an effect on markets. Shipping from China right now is down so much. So unless they have a ton ready to go when back to fully working we will see economic effect for 6-8 months.

The stock market will go back up. It was down 1000 points the first day, but yesterday it corrected up 500 more points. The stock market fluctuates at times of uncertainty and indecision. It will self correct. Look at the lower stock numbers as a positive. How? It is the perfect time to buy stocks that have lost some value. They will go up in the near future once the coronavirus subsides.
Now if we could only get the media and certain political opportunists to stop the scare tactics...the ship would right itself more quickly.

Investors are a different breed especially that track stock markets for a living. Easy to blame the media per our current President but that's not always the case.

I'm not blaming the media because of the President. I am blaming the media because of what I have personally seen them report.
I am blaming the political opportunists who are trying to incite a panic where there is no reason for one to exist.
Investors are a different breed. Fortunately they are smarter than the average public and know how to roll with the market trends.

I agree and the biggest losers in this fiasco is the discretionary spending markets because people including me will hold off for now regarding leisure travel and home improvements.

That is correct. Hell, While I was going to the gym this week I wondered why it was so empty when it's usually packed.
Then I realized...oh the Coronavirus scare. It's irresponsible for the media to frighten people especially without facts.

How often do we see people in full hazmat suits treating people for the flu? How many times have nations quarantined cities over the flu? How many times have Japan and China closed schools for weeks over the flu (never mind Disney Parks)? Look, I'm not denying that this may be a bit overblown, but clearly the authorities (such as they are) are much more concerned about this than they are the standard seasonal flu.

That would likely be in part because we have vaccines for the standard seasonal flu which much of the population gets. There is no vaccination for this virus yet.

Also it was reported that the woman was older than 50. Possibly in her 90's. The Virus is still considered to be a very low threat according to the CDC Director.

Correct. According to the President and reported by the AP the woman was in her late 50's.
And that goes with my point about the bad reporting. Before the press conference it was reported that the woman was 19 years old.
All in a rush to be first to report it. Ridiculous.

I agree. It's important for everyone to not freak out. Regardless if you like the President or not the US is doing a lot better compared to other countries on handling coronavirus. It's a good thing they shutdown down certain flights as well as closing the border and detaining certain people to check them has helped according to Dr Fauci who is on the team with Vice President Pence.

Last 15 minutes of the market did. But most most of it was profit taking from the shorts. Wouldn't read too much into that. Traders/Investors have a different defenition of up/down. It all depends on the time of day they pulled the trigger. Bears in control for the moment. Bulls will come back strong though. Market is funny that way - if you can't stand a hit - then you have no chance - if you can - then no worries - question becomes - how much of a hit can you withstand?. So far just a flesh wound.
