Pittsburgh does too :)
I'm aware of only one word for that drink and it's pop. Along with the warsh machine. Playing in the crick. Buying a pack of gumbands. And a family favorite, getting the tires on the cars bounced. There's more but I'll stop 🤣

I've been craving Primantis lately too...
It’s such a fine line, though. I’ve read at least 4-5 stories of otherwise young, healthy people who were self monitoring at home and became SO sick, SO fast, their family (or the police on a welfare check) found them dead at home. One was found with her 4-year old by her side...it’s so heartbreaking 😞
Oh I understand that. It's d---ed if you do, d---ed if you don't. I still live at home (something I'm not proud of at all, hopefully changing soon) so that's a plus in that specific situation.

What a horses butt this guy is Can't say much more this is a family forum
There are literally millions of people who think and act like this. My friend in Montreal told me their neighbors have friends over for a dinner party every night, and at the local corner store they had to listen to a rant about how, "It's all a hoax". Supposedly authorities might close down the city parks completely because people won't stop congregating in crowds.

For anyone who doesn’t know Midwest incapsulates the states of the former Northwest Territory:

From east to west: OH, MI, IN, IL, WI, MN

Occasionally people add IA to this list, but technically they are a part of the Great Plains area of the country.

Florida has closed down its parks and banned vacation rentals for the next couple of weeks. But it is hard to monitor everyone. It’s on the honor system pretty much and we all need to do our part.

I can tell you that Iowans consider themselves part of the Midwest.

They are technically wrong though the whole origin of Midwest is that it is a shortening of Middle West. That was what Americans started calling the NW territory area after the Louisiana Purchase created a “new west.” MN gets added in because part of the Arrowhead was owned by the US prior to the Purchase, none of Iowa was.

It feels like it has been ages, but this was the scene at MK only 14 days ago.

From an East Coaster perspective, anything in between the Appalachian/Alleghenys and the Rockies is The Midwest. Unless you speak with a drawl, then you're in The South.

"The West" is an era that's long past.

Anecdotal but backed up by the fact that less than 10% of the tests in Florida are positive so far (which jibes with the total USA data).

Part of the strain on the healthcare system is everyone wanting to get tested if they have a sniffle even though, other than for statistics, it really doesn't matter if they have COVID-19 or not if the symptoms are mild. Just assume you have it and self quarantine.

Agree with you last point. Curious where you are getting info about the test accuracy. Of course there will be some false negatives with any swab test. A blood test will definitely be more accurate to test for the presence of antibodies.
We can't reliably trust the number of positive tests to gauge who severe the outbreak really is. Most epidemiologists I've read suggest the real number of cases lies somewhere around 15x the number of reported positive tests. Similarly the actual number of deaths lies around 2.5x higher than the number reported, which is supported by your statement about not testing everyone (why test someone dying in an ICU, little utility and won't change course).

As for myself, I'm thankful to live in an area with a very low population density. It doesn't feel that bad here, but we're ready. My wife's floor (she's a nurse) is receiving vent training and pressor support training to provide aid to the ICUs when crap hits the fan. I, on the other hand, have been dismissed from clinical duties and now find myself trying to be productive. Wish I could help, but the best way any of us can help is to stay away from everyone..

I hope this is the breakthrough.
It very well could be.

I have several complaints with western medicine. One of them is that many providers refuse to use a specific treatment because it isn't understood how said treatment works. I mean, if it works, by God use it during a pandemic. Many of the "old boys" will refuse to, though, and that sucks.
