Pssst there are other EVs outside of Teslas
I don't buy gas and I don't own a Tesla. Too big of a car and they ran out of the $7500 tax credit a while ago. Right now electricity seems to be very reasonably priced for cars. However, I do fly and I know that will affect the price of air and of course as you said increase in any products being shipped will occur simply because you need to pay to move it around.
So even us EV drivers know what the effects will be. Some of it was covid and now other things affecting. Our shipping prices went up due to covid and I know products are more costly as well.
Some states add it to the yearly registration. But that's been that way for a while. Sadly in my state they suck huge and are asking us to pay more than our fair share when calculated out. All stated, what I save on my car is much bigger than any extras that the state gets. My car was really rather well priced for a new car even without tax incentives. With the incentives, it was a fantastic deal. While I appreciate Tesla they really are not cars for those who switch to EVs for environmental reasons so they kind of create a weird niche in the market. Most states are reasonable with the "gas tax" loss that they add to registration. Lots of reasons to buy an EV - though honestly I'm a part of a lot of EV groups and I'm still baffled by EWC... what dos that stand for?
All said and done my electricity hasn't risen due to covid or anything yet. At least not this year.
