Would the opposite be? Parents are unvaccinated, but child wants to be vaccinated so parents allow it?

EDIT: I only ask in the "never read anything so stupid" discussion. I'm pretty sure I've read more stupid stuff regarding this pandemic. Parents deferring to the child over their own opinions, can have a beneficial outcome, depending on what is being decided.
Children realizing their parents are nuts was clearly the issue in Tennessee where the department of health temporarily suspended adolescent vaccine advocacy.

A 9 year-old does not have the mental capacity to be making medical decisions for themselves. Even in today's hippy dippy idea of "be their best friend" parenting.

I'd doubt it. Kids under 16 need parental permission. If parents are against it now, I doubt they'd listen to a 9yo (example)

Not sure how Disney will react....

I doubt they will. Disney put in a vaccine mandate electively.

I don't believe they did. The CMS rule says that some workers can be exempt based on other Federal laws (for things like medical exemptions). Maybe that would apply to those but I didn't see anything in the rule about it. I read quickly so maybe I missed it.

All SCOTUS did was grant a stay on the order that prevented CMS from enforcing the rule.
Judges ruled in favor of vaccine mandates for health care workers in companies that receive Medicare , Medicaid funding.

Thinking about kids getting vaccinated. I know a few who were waiting until break due to lack of scheduling. Some just are struggling to fit it in with school schedules. Then parents delay after. One friend said their rural school has nearly 1/3 (edit to correct a typo from said friend) out with covid. Not a vaccinated area either so it was particularly bad. More waits when that happens.

My school is doing lousy with cases it seems but we're still at like 2% or less. Not as bad as about 33%

My oldest mentioned yesterday that his classes (8th grade) are anywhere from 25-50% empty right now. County statistics are ~1/3 of kids 12-17 vaccinated (middle and HS age). Lower still for elementary age kids.
County as a whole is just over 50%.

There is some trip right now for some kids so there are quite a few out. We get daily counts of kids and staff combined which is a better guess. The trip apparently coincided with the long weekend. Some parents are keeping kids home out of worry. Which I get. We were told we cannot expect to always have services or school even if it gets bad. Yay...

I know the HS was the lowest percent of vaccinated. The middle was higher of eligible but 1/3 were not eligible. No clue on kids as a whole. I only know anecdotal stories.

It’s in the name 😉. Seriously, though, it’s possible I’m getting 13yo exaggerations. But we did get an email from the principal and superintendent asking for patience and begging parents to vaccinate their kids. So he may not be far off. And since he’s in a heavily honors track, a lot of overlap exists between classrooms. It could be his group is an anomaly.

Yeah. 2% isn’t horrible. It was the example from your friend that threw me.
I hope you understand I don't want to out where they live because it is very rural. Like one stoplight in the town rural. But it's a friend not in my own state who is in the midwest though. Insanely low vaccination rates and very low mitigations ever happened. Most thought covid wasn't real. I was totally shocked when I heard. I am waiting to hear more details but they are online next week for school.

Of course. I wasn’t expecting you to give me a city on county. Just generally. :)
