Ugh, I have a friend who has an young-adult son (with no developmental issues whatsoever) who still uses this as an excuse. She enables it, too - "you don't understand, he's TERRIFIED of needles - used to take three doctors to hold him down when he was a kid". He's this 250LB/6' dude and I'm like...seriously? How much of a wuss is he? LOL. If you don't look, likely you wouldn't even feel them putting it in for the split second it takes.
Being scared of needles is a real thing. Don't diminish that. I had a true traumatic experience thanks to a nurse ratchet type as a kid and literally was held down for a painful shot that was part of treatment. It sucked and really affects me today. Though instead of not getting vaccines I have worked to get through it all. My BP and stress/anxiety is sky high. But I can get vaccinated and blood draws. I go for one next month. Parents enabling just makes it worse.

So over the weekend I got no less then 4 notifications from my hospital that if you are Covid + and vaccinated you can RTW in 5 days. And if we are in diaster mode you can just work according to the new CDC guidelines.

So lets let covid + care for at risk patients to solve staffing shortages instead of SHUTTING DOWN or postponing non-critical procedures for a few weeks. Their are a business just like Disney.

Which government leader is threatening to SHUT DOWN things? Citation needed.

South Africa cases dropped dramatically in just a few days.

UK cases have dropped over 25% in 2 days.
If this data isn't skewed by Christmas interrupting testing/reporting, the South Africa data would suggest that an Omnicron wave will be around 2 months beginning to end.

If that holds over the next 3-4 days, that would be great news. I genuinely don't know how prevalent testing would be in SA over the Christmas weekend to know otherwise.

The expectation was that omicron could burn pretty bright (high count of infected) but not hot (high casualty) or long (a wave that lasts less than 2 months).

Get your shots, stay smart, prepared, and vigilant, but don't give up on life. It's better for everyone if you do grocery delivery and order takeout while still tipping. Keep the kids in school and families together.

A three headed approach of mitigation (free vaccines, free rapid tests of up to 1 per person per week upon request, and minor mitigation like free kn95s masks at entrances to crowded areas) will hopefully keep us steady and allow the supply of treatment for those who still need it remain sufficient.

I believe SA stopped testing asymptomatic individuals last week
