I disagree. Especially if they didn’t come out and say when this all really started. I stand by what I said. WDW will reopen in some weeks. I don’t understand why all the sudden people are saying summer, New Years. That’s ludicrous. If Disney doesn’t open neither will most businesses and if that happens someday better be sending me a mortgage and car check every month because I refuse to lose my house over something that was out of my control.

I don't disagree that WDW will be open by summer but at this point May is looking unlikely unless we come together and all cooperate to stop the sptred.

Disney won't open if the numbers of cases continue to drastically increase, especially in Cali or Florida. I'd bet on that. They aren't risking it,

While I wouldn’t argue that these stores are essential, they do provide things for people to do when they are quarantined. Dropping by for an art kit, or to buy some fabric, etc. is pretty understandable.

Yep.

I think someone yesterday was complaining about flower stores. Several of those
are still open because people are still getting married (or postponing weddings) and still dying.

No one is breaking the law by remaining open. They are following local guidelines and providing a service for their communities.

Don't get why you are so hell bent on defending WHO here. They should understand how this platform works and how people will take this message and how it spreads like wildfire. What they did was irresponsible...plain and simple. This was only one of their missteps during this crisis.

I'm not really defending WHO here, per say.

It's a more righteous cause in defending the truth that motivates me.

There's too much disinformation dropped in here and elsewhere that lead to the distortion of the truth over time.

Fact is, WHO did not say what was accused earlier. I corrected it. We all now see the original assertion has been proven incorrect. My job here is done, for now....

It’s easy to see the number of cases of the Chinese Virus. It’s harder to see the destructive effects this lockdown has on businesses and families. How many will commit suicide, return to drug or alcohol addiction and other vices as a result of this? We don’t know. What we do know: a lockdown for any amount of time would hurt the nation more than its help.

Again... I'm already in WNY where all that's open is grocery stores, pharmacies, and restaurants for take out only.
If you told me to not step foot out of my house for 21 days and then we could do what we want I'd gladly do it.
I would too. The unfortunate reality is that there are many who aren't taking it seriously enough...and that's what's making me think the (individual) states are going to be forced to take more drastic measures.

Edited for clarity

And that’s a problem. This is the kind of thinking that can lead to the end of our civilization. You’ll be fine. Use common sense. Wash your hands. You see, there are people in this country who are using this crisis to change our nation to their vision (looking at you, House majority Whip Clyburn). Whether you recognize it or not, that is a very very dangerous line of thought.

But I'm already living in a place that is practically on lock down.... so my thought is if everyone does it we can be done.

If you live in a small population farm town.. no tourism.. no big business... neighbors acres away from each other.. Should you be under lock down in your home?

You know what's funny?
full lockdown (like what they are doing in NY) has not been a CDC recommendation. Their current recommendation is the 15 days of social distancing to stop the spread. They do, however, seem to support governors who have hot spots to deal with to go above and beyond if they deem it necessary.

Apparently you missed the nugget quite a while ago where the CDC says EIGHT WEEKS and that's only if people actually freaking do it.
