Hello neighbours. 👋🏻

Proof of vaccination will only be required if a traveller is sent for secondary screening, the government officials said on the call.

I'm surprised proof isn't being required, but I guess the USA continues to be averse to any type of vaccine passport.

It's odd. It's not like it's hard to have people show their phone or a paper vaccination record at the same time they're handing their passport to the border agent.

It's insane at MK today. I haven't seen crowds like this in years. I wasn't expecting this....
We were at Disneyland this weekend and it was the busiest I’ve seen since pre-pandemic days.

It was frustrating dealing with packed walkways and long lines again but in a weird way it was also kind of nice because it felt “normal”.

They've been one of the most impacted, and most vocal groups. I read a while back their lone grocery store was in danger of closing.

Ninety percent (!) of their economic activity is Canadian driven.

If the spread is the same once you're there then it isn't safer in general. Also, if there is increased risk on an airplane (which based on air flow and filtration I don't really think is high risk) you are spending at least 3 hours more on board flying to Hawaii.

The queues are the only place with increased risk at WDW vs. Hawaii. However, with the current case rate there is a very small chance that you are within 6 feet of an infected and contagious person while in a queue and an even smaller chance of being within 3 feet which is the current CDC guidance.

Except at MK (although I guess you can walk) you can avoid Disney transportation completely and at MK you can take the ferry to be outdoors.

I haven't been to Florida, but just literally got back from Hawaii. Perceptually I felt very safe there. Between currently low crowds, vaccine passports, vaccine/testing requirements and mostly open air dining/outdoor activities.

It actually felt safer than Canada. Florida seems to be much better than the summer, but the crowding still perceptually bothers me a bit.

It varies. Our highways range from 49.7mph - 68.35mph. And generally most will go 10 over the posted KM/H posted limit.

Maybe the Ontario drivers are different than out here in BC, but the drivers out here in BC can be wild. And woe to those who use the passing lane incorrectly.
My experience driving the QEW, 401 and 403 is that Ontario residents usually leave their famed Canadian politeness and friendliness at home when they get in their car.

OSHA submitted the initial covid mandate to the Office of Management and Budget yesterday for review. So the information could be made public in the next few weeks. If they time this wrong, the holiday season could see a shortage of workers during the season, making things worse for ones who stick it out.

These things move so slowly that by the time the rules are in place it will either be too late to prevent a winter surge or no longer necessary due to the virus burning out at the current vaccination level.

I think a lot of people are overestimating the risk with crowding. The photo below was taken at the Hard Rock in Hollywood, FL (Broward County) on 10/3. An identical show took place on 10/2. 7,000 people with maybe 5% masked in an indoor environment. From the time of the opening band to the end of the show it was 5 hours. The unmasked audience was singing along and screaming the whole time. Many people would call this a superspreader event. Fauci would have a panic attack.

You can't see me due to the angle but I was near the front and center of the standing room crowd pressed up against each other. I communicate either directly or through a fan message board with many people who attended one of these shows. Nobody reported getting COVID (neither did I). Since these shows took place neither Broward County nor the surrounding counties have shown any reversal of the downward case trend.

While there are more people in the parks at WDW on a given day, none of the indoor environments are as packed as this and the time spent in them is not as long. I think people perceive a risk level that isn't real, indoor masks or not.

If it's too late to prevent a winter surge, then federal transportation mask mandate will extending into April/May 2022, if the virus burning out at the current vaccination level during Winter 2021-2022, I think federal transportation mask mandate will might lifted for masks to be removed for trains, buses, cruises and planes by Spring 2022.

I noticed a lot of effects and things not working in Pandora at AK yesterday. Notably the water shooting snails, glowing effects and the giant Flaska Plant.

I hope these get repaired/fixed and don't just get ignored. Stuff like this bothers me because I feel regular maintenance would avoid all this and ignoring it will just make it worse.
