What do you think are one of the reasons hospital beds are often full leading up to times like these? If you took away the cancer and issues caused by smoking and second hand smoke and alcohol poisioning as well as drunk driving accidents or stupid mistakes caused by bad judgment through drugs, guess what you would have? A lot more hospital beds and less stresss on hospitals.

We would just have smaller hospitals, and be more up a creek. The focus on "efficiency" wouldn't have evaporated if there were less patients. Empty rooms would be managed out of existence.

So, our first day of mandated curfew began a little over an hour ago. Last time this happened in my country, was in the mid 70's because of a coup and political unrest. I barely remember those days.

Eerie silence all around, looking out a window I can see the sun still shining bright, blue skies and it's a beautiful 77°. I'm already missing my daily walk today. Many djustments to our daily lives are being made down here.

Endurance will be crucial through this crisis. Hopefully, this situation doesn't last much longer so that we can all go on with our normal ways of life.

Genuine question - what is the value of a mandated curfew? Why would the government want to force people out during specified hours? I'd much rather get gas or do shopping at 1am when nobody is around.

My opinion...it drives home how important it is to limit your time in public around other people.

Citing “overwhelming demand,” Gilead has temporarily stopped granting patients access to remdesivir. It will make exceptions for pregnant women and children under 18 years of age with confirmed Covid-19 and “severe manifestations” of the disease.

That is exactly what I am doing. Until my area goes into lock down because of those who do not view it the same way, I am still going for walks but will not get closer than 6 feet to anyone, and will not touch anything.

I've cancelled non-essential things, especially if they involve close contact, such as getting my nails done. I don't routinely go to get my hair done anymore - wear it braided which I do myself.

The malls and retail stores have closed, and the local grocery has special seniors hours.
And what can the US deaths be attributed to?

I think it’s to curtail potential looters. Sure, if they won’t obey laws about looting, they won’t obey a curfew; but this gives law enforcement the ability to stop them BEFORE looting, hopefully. That’s my theory, anyway.

It specifically controls the public and the limited resources to manage them...if your not supposed to be out, your probably going commuting a crime like looting. Essentially, it allows law enforcement to focus their attention and resources strategically.

This does not apply to civil or political unrest...at that point, it’s called military rule.
