It absolutely can happen, and it's going to start happening in Ohio if people can't get their act together and stay home. The governor said it himself; starting Monday, limiting contact and staying away from groups is no longer a recommendation. It's an order. Parks can stay open only if we all act with common sense and maintain that 6ft distance.

Yes, and he’s encouraging that outdoor time.
I just hope that all areas really try to do things as responsibly as possible. Our local bike trail had a lot of people out today, but no one was congregating. Just biking rollerblading or running.

Wow...this one snuck by me...apparently here in MA (or at least in our town), bank lobbies are now closed.

It has been this way here for a few days, at least at PNC and BoA. I don’t think ours was mandated, both sent out an email notifying their customers. I’m assuming all banks in the area did the same, not certain.

And though I certainly understand how jarring all of this is, I will say again, we have more options for entertainment at home (and education, and communication with others) than at any time in human history.

I would love to see a study of how much time kids are spending on electronics right now. If their parents are still controlling the time or have let it go.
We’re going to end up with even more out of shape, overweight, and too much screen time, kids (and adults) by the end of this. :(

Hopefully parents will still utilize parental controls and make their kids get at least an hour or so of exercise, and limit the junk food. I know I have extended my strict 45 minute rule.. I just don’t want it to get too crazy. You’re right though that there is so many good sources to utilize. Kids can video chat and exercise together which could be fun for them.

I hope the various parks/government looks for solutions rather than just stating the obvious selfishness and closing everything for weeks.
You can still get there by walking. But they have closed the metro stations nearby, they have parked snowplows at the exits from the highways/streets, they have closed parking lots. You can see from the cherry blossom live cam that there are still people there, but it is significantly less crowded than yesterday, and more able to practice social distancing.

On the topic of selfish individuals forcing park closures:

We know it's all about the angles when looking down mainstreet USA, and a relatively uncrowded magic Kingdom will appear crowded, but holy smokes, those pics of folk in the park.

I don't think the average person is really aware of how near impossible it is to contain or keep a virus out with just a mask. Saw a report that said one drop of sea water can contain up to 10,000 viral particles. One sneeze or cough can produce up to 3000 droplets that hang in the air just long enough for those behind us to walk though.

It's actually pretty amazing life exists on this planet at all, but then we have this incredible war machine known as the immune system that blasts most invaders out of existence. It's all fascinating.

Here’s 2 memes for everyone feeling stressed after their Governor’s update, both are applicable to me at this moment ;)

My bank sent a note like that during the week for this region... The lobbies were closed, but they were still doing drive-up. People that had safety deposit boxes, loan issues, etc basically would be handled on an appointment basis.

Trust me.. in the background the gov will be doing everything they can to push the banks to stay open... even if in a reduced sense.

Part of the problem is we aren't given the underlying assumptions when they throw out a worst case scenario.
And equally, nobody spelled out the underlying assumptions for the best case scenario, but in the meantime, a lot of people have taken the best case scenario as gospel truth: "it's just like flu", "kids aren't affected"; "only the old get severe symptoms"; "America has the best health care system in the world".
