Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

My guess is they'll say the FDA was under political pressure and rushed the approval. Hopefully they'll be making that argument to an employer that is now requiring the vaccine.
Wonder if it will be the same people who said the FDA was under political pressure and rushed the approval of the vaccine back in 2020.

Now we'll see what other lame excuses the people come up with to not get vaccinated.
Hopefully it’s along the lines of, “I’m independently wealthy and don’t need that paycheck, anyway.” I really hope enough businesses use this as the ammo they need to mandate their employees be vaccinated. At least for the high risk/high exposure industries.

I’m genuinely curious as to what makes you think the outbreak in FL has peaked and is starting to decline. It’s no secret that FL hospitals are full and are turning away very sick patients. Many of those people are going to die at home.

It’s also no secret that it’s near impossible to get a COVID test in a timely manner in the state of Florida right now. People that want to be tested today have to wait in a line for hours, provided they’re not too sick to do that, or wait days for a scheduled appointment. My guess is a lot of symptomatic people are forgoing testing entirely, and very few asymptomatic people, even if they know they’ve been exposed, are going to expend the time and effort to get tested when it’s an enormous hassle at the moment.

The data shows that it is either near peak or has peaked. There are likely significantly more cases than reported but the shape of the curve should be pretty accurate. Researchers at USF predicted that it would peak tomorrow in an article last week.

Israel has been doing boosters for those 60 and older, according to an unreleased study it is providing significant increase in protection.

The answer is not do anything because it’s not 100%, the answer is always try to do something even if it’s less. If it’s the best we got then we should do it.
Nor did I suggest that.

Sometimes when reading this thread it’s like being catapulted back to March 2020. Still talking about the effectiveness of masks(proven) and the comparisons to the flu or driving a car over the speed limit(???). Six hundred thousand dead and still climbing, with the pandemic still raging and we are still discussing the flu.
It won’t be over for a while that’s for sure.

You should have seen the various threads in the political forum on this subject where I pointed out there was no stopping this. They only way to have stopped it was for it to never have started.

In line with what you’re pointing out.

As to the rest there? This was always going to be the case in the most politically, economically, religiously, culturally and ethnically diverse country on earth. And because people like to misconstrue (not saying you), that’s just what America is, like it or not.

Then when we look at this globally? Can it be eradicated? Maybe, but I have my doubts.

By the way Willmark, none of this was meant for you, just went off on a rant.
Understood and please take my first reply above in the same light.

Just stumbled upon an article that lists 49 different studies, regarding types of face masks, masks for children, etc. It’s a treasure trove of info!

Of note, the list also includes a section of “disbunked studies” and why they are invalid, including one about CO2 effects on children when masked.

Mic drop!
For every 49 different studies, regarding types of face masks, masks for children, etc. you will find 49 studies saying the opposite. There lies one major problem. People will believe what they want. Human nature.

Who do you mean, specifically?
Just that anything to do with Covid - vaccines, masks, putting Covid patients in retirement homes, etc, is political.

CNN blasting the South Dakota's recent Sturgis Motorcycle Rally as a super spreader event, yet was a big fan for the "We Love NYC: Homecoming Concert" in Central Park. Dr. Anthony Fauci was among the experts who warned against the Sturgis rally, suggesting that attendees place the public health crisis above their personal enjoyment. I did not see one article with him saying the same thing about the NYC Central Park concert or Chicago's Lollalooza event.

An interesting article:

"More Republicans than Democrats appear to be "vaccine hesitant" -- that is, reluctant for one reason or another -- to take the COVID-19 vaccine. They've gotten the treatment you might expect in some quarters of the press. "Right-wing anti-vaccine hysteria is increasing. We'll all pay the price," read one headline in The Washington Post. In The New York Times, there was, "Far-Right Extremists Move From 'Stop the Steal' to Stop the Vaccine." The Daily Beast chimed in with "The GOP's Paranoid Streak From John Birchers to Anti-Vaxxers." You get the idea.
But it's not hard to imagine a different picture. If President Donald Trump had won reelection, the vaccine skepticism might have leaned more to the other side."

The ignorant and misinformed think by wearing a mask interferes with their civil liberties and personal freedom. Some have turned into Karens on video when they refuse to wear a mask in a store where there is a posted no mask no service policy. A female customer was even arrested in a Galveston , Texas bank by a police officer when she refused to comply to wear a mask inside the bank and taunted the officer. She got what she deserved.

I guess we should blame Adam and Eve for this.

Ah. But this list showcases legitimate, pier – reviewed studies. And it also includes a small list of studies that are not peer reviewed and faulty, with explanations as to why the information is incorrect.
