Joking aside, I hope any of you who have it are doing ok.

There is no such thing to being unable to get the vaccine due to known allergy. (Anyone May have an unpredicted allergic reaction).
Okay, let's explain this...

When you've had an allergic reaction to a vaccine in the past, a pharmacy or max vaccination site WILL NOT VACCINATE YOU. Even though you *might* be able to safely get one of the vaccines. A doctor's office might, but now all will. (Mine will not vaccinate me).

So you have to go to a hospital to get the vaccination, which is a headache in itself. I live in Baltimore, so there's not a shortage of hospitals around. My allergist said I *might* be able to safely get the Moderna vaccine, but only the Moderna vaccine. One of the hospitals near me had appointments, but wouldn't tell you which vaccine you were getting until you got there, which wouldn't work. The hospital affiliated with my primary care office I couldn't get an appointment for the life of me; they were being taken up by the elderly and by healthcare workers, and then the clinic closed. The only hospital that still has vaccines is Hopkins, but only Pfizer and J&J.

And then I would have to wait there for three hours after each shot because the last time I had a reaction, that's how long it took for it to develop.

When I went to see one of the doctors at my primary care practice (I don't currently have a primary care doctor) last week, they advised against getting it. I know someone else who had an allergic reaction to a vaccine whose doctor also completely advised against it and wrote her a medical exemption.

It's not exactly like we can just go to a pharmacy and get a shot in the arm like the rest of the population.

"With a new surge of Covid-19 infections ripping through much of the United States, the Food and Drug Administration has accelerated its timetable to fully approve Pfizer-BioNTech’s coronavirus vaccine, aiming to complete the process by the start of next month, people involved in the effort said.

President Biden said last week that he expected a fully approved vaccine in early fall. But the F.D.A.’s unofficial deadline is Labor Day or sooner, according to multiple people familiar with the plan. The agency said in a statement that its leaders recognized that approval might inspire more public confidence and had “taken an all-hands-on-deck approach” to the work.

Giving final approval to the Pfizer vaccine — rather than relying on the emergency authorization granted late last year by the F.D.A. — could help increase inoculation rates at a moment when the highly transmissible Delta variant of the virus is sharply driving up the number of new cases."

"Moderna, the second most widely used vaccine in the United States, filed for final approval of its vaccine on June 1. But the company is still submitting data and has not said when it will finish. Johnson & Johnson, the third vaccine authorized for emergency use, has not yet applied but plans to do so later this year."

Just made it back from back to school night, out of a possible 500 7-8th grade families I saw maybe 10 with masks on. 2 of her 6 teachers had masks. No masks required on busses either. Not even dividers in the science room that has double tables. Surprisingly she does have a bus but choosing to walk (we're on the border of walking) so she will be at school earlier. By the looks of it, it won't take long for covid to spread if kids or teachers start testing positive. Maybe the school already knows what percentage of the students have had the covid vaccine and the rate is high? Don't know, just seems like a noncovid year with the exception of "send hand sanitizer". I wanted to plan a tentative winter/new year trip to Disney, but honestly the way things are at her school it seems like a bad choice.

Is the vaccine approval will help to end the surges of COVID-19 like waves by fall as the Delta variants will be low enough?

Don't think they're allowed to do that

Which public transportation conveyances does the order apply to, and in which areas?
The Order applies to all public transportation conveyances traveling into the United States (i.e., arriving from a foreign country) or within the United States (including within states or territories or traveling between states or territories). This includes school buses. The Order also applies to all conveyances leaving the United States until they arrive at a foreign destination.

I know, the district next to us is requiring it. Not here though. Maybe it's a stubborn Indiana thing.

The COVID19 story comes full circle!
"Chinese authorities said they will test each of the 11 million residents of the city of Wuhan for COVID-19 after a handful of locally transmitted cases were discovered in the area, BBC News reported on Tuesday. Wuhan, where the coronavirus was first detected in 2019, reported three locally transmitted infections on Monday, according to the Associated Press."

I forget if your kid is too young to be vaxed but if so maybe one of the N95 with the vent? The spread is inward so it should serve the purpose? A pain to wear all day but might be free time alone for mask breaks?

They had to take the surgical ICU for covid patients. He's had the upper left lobe of his lung removed so far. 2 months ago they found more "suspicious" areas near his spine. He went back for a biopsy late June, more cancerous cells on the back side of his lung putting pressure on his spine. Plan is to do targeted radiation but waiting on Medicare/medicaid approval for a month now. He's still living at home by himself and can get around, but have to check on him often. Don't really know what the survival rate is.
My FIL was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in 2014. He's been through I think 6 surgeries, chemo, radiation and ablation. He's survived and has been cancer free for over a year now. I know his survival odds were pretty low (17% or something like that) at diagnosis so hopefully if your dad keeps fighting he'll come out on top! Cancer sucks (I guess that's an understatement).

I am not CNN fan, and I distrust them, but these boards have shown to love them, so if CNN can cast doubt of a rushed vaccine, I cant imagine why other people can't. But no, you wont let them cast doubt, or think for themselves. Dark stuff man, dark stuff.
This article comes from last September, before we had close to a billion data points showing the overwhelming safety and efficacy of the current vaccines.

Swing and miss...

She's vaxed barely made the cutoff of 12, but given the low rate of 12-17 reported as vaccinated in our county it was surprising to see so few without masks. She will be required to wear one to her after school program because she'll be doing volunteer work with the K-6th grader groups. I just don't want school to be a 2020 repeat of virtual learning, it was not her strong suit for sure.

The article starts out with this: "FDA Commissioner Dr. Steven Hahn told the Financial Times that his agency could consider an emergency use authorization (EUA) for a Covid-19 vaccine before late stage clinical trials are complete if the data show strong enough evidence it would protect people."

Were the phase III trials the "late stage clinical trials"?

Vents are considered taboo now since they only protect the wearer and not the others. Our district will not allow them in areas that masks are required (like busing)

That's too bad they won't change, times have and the goalposts are in a different position now. Protect yourself from the unvaxed

Here in Orange County the school says masks are optional on Buses.

"Face Masks: In case you haven’t heard, the school board adopted a revised policy that makes face masks optional for students and adults. The change takes effect on school campuses including buses Aug. 2 and immediately at all non-school facilities."

Not sure this was meant for me. My kid is vaccinated and we have like a 70-75% vaccination rate for my city. We have recommended masks, but buses require them. Vented masks and gaiters have been "banned" since probably Oct of last year.

I have no clue what our school will do. We have a meeting on the 10th for the school board. For my kid, I will suggest he wear them, but we have a lot of masks that are comfortable and we worn every day 5 days a week without issues. So we're covered with masks. While we hoped to not mask in school, it will be what it will be. If not mandated, I did suggest to remove for outside activities if allowed.

For now we are trying to do a fall production. With singing, I think we'll be back to masks requested by the teacher. No big. We've dealt with this over a year now.

We have had it stated to us many times this is not an option... school buses are included on the mandate. I'm honestly shocked.

And, for your safety — you should avoid any indoor public places until you get vaccinated.

Again, it has nothing to do with whether it’s easy or hard. Or whether you have a good excuse.

If you can’t wear a seatbelt, you don’t ride in a car. If you can’t get a vaccine, don’t go into indoor public places.
