Posters who continue with political, or just plain rude nasty, posts will not be allowed to participate.
No need to ban me I’ll see my way out of this thread.

I know how this goes, as long as you stay on message you can say what you want.

Go against that message and you will be silenced.

Enjoy the echo chamber everyone!

Kind of shame even though we don’t agree I thought we where all getting along and learning from each other.

To Pixie and other posters of your mindset thank you.

I don’t agree with you all but I respect you, envy your empathy, and admire your intelligence.

So Disney could basically make life miserable at the parks for the anti vax by making the non vaccinated mask up ( they hate this ) and even giving the vaccinated some “fast passes” assuring long lines for the non vaccinated.
They can, but won't, unless the situation gets so bad that it substantially affects their business. Right now, that isn't happening. I don't agree with all the posters who say people visiting WDW prefer mitigations or won't visit unless they're in place. My belief is that the people who are going now are the ones more inclined to take what they perceive to be a small chance of getting sick. Not saying everyone - I'm sure there are some (probably posting here) - who would prefer to visit with a mask requirement.

But if things get worse, that could change. At that point, it might be worth it for Disney to check vaccination status and hand out the wristbands. Chicago is hosting Lollapalooza soon, and people attending will be required to show a vaccination card or proof of a negative test to enter. If that's the road we have to go down, then we'll have to figure out a way to make it work. At this point, after mitigations were dropped, I just don't see vaccinated people shrugging and going back to mask-wearing without a great deal of pushback. I'm aware of the position of our leaders, but this is a fluid situation that could change with changing circumstances. Hopefully, it won't get that bad.

Israel is at 57.6% fully vaxed, UK is at 52.9%, the US is only at 48.3. But the bigger issue, US was ahead of the UK just a few weeks ago... UK is still rising at a good rate, Israel is starting to rise again as they just authorized 12+, while the US has flattened out. Most of Europe was way being the US, but at current trajectories, most European nations will surpass the US soon.

Is that counting fully vaxed as those who have had two shots, or two shots plus the two week period after the second for it to be fully effective? I only ask as 67.5% of people in the UK have now had both shots.

Agreed. This - the idea of wrist bands - is as good as we can get. Since we cannot do passports, this is as good as it gets. For places like FL, they cannot deny entry, but they could require masks for unvaccinated and have bands to make it easy to verify. States that choose to could adopt this if they wanted.

Posts that were political were deleted. Posts that were rude and denigrating people were deleted. Posts that were expressing differing POVs in a respectful manner were allowed to stay.

Posters will disagree on what "staying on message" actually means. I've had complaints that anyone questioning the vaccines, masks, etc are being silenced.

Until enough time has passed that immunity for all is greater.

Honestly I really don't need no cases. I need cases to be like a bad cold or better for the vast majority. However the vaccines are doing great to be fair. We are working on different boosters if needed.

Our hurdle is not the vaccines. It's people not wanting to be vaccinated.

I'm still far more convinced it will eventually be okay. How long depends on how quickly we can vaccinate all people.

I swear, there's a population out that that is disappointed that things aren't worse and that they didn't get the pandemic they hoped for.

I think the figure quoted by you is for adults over 18 whilst the other figure includes over 12 as they can be vaccinated in the USA. Not 100% certain but that’s how I understand it.

Yup, like this guy, who now wishes he had gotten vaccinated. PS - He was 24.

I believe the message was that the number of 24 year olds needing double lung transplants compared to the number of 24 year olds that tested positive for COVID was so small that it was effectively zero.

It was probably just as statistically likely that this guy would get hit by a car while crossing the street.

/s

Big numbers, percentages, lack of significant digits really do create poor risk understanding when the impact is so significant. :(

I believe that’s 67.5% of ADULTS in UK have both shots. I was citing percentage of entire population.

While there are people who do thrive on negativity and such, I think there are less who are as you say.

In fact I think the pandemic has been horrific, yes it could have been worse, but no genuine hearted person would feel that way.

From what I have seen Disney seems to listen to the CDC primarily. Once they have issued guidance within a few days Disney has modified their policies.

Per last night with Lester Holt on NBC, Walensky when asked "So the CDC is not recommending fully vaccinated people should mask up in indoor settings?" Her response, "NO we are not".

That's the wrong question.

We know the guidance is "If you are not fully vaccinated and aged 2 or older, you should wear a mask in indoor public places."

The correct question to ask is 'If you're fully vaccinated and in an indoor space with unvaccinated people who are NOT wearing a mask, what should you do?"

It doesn't tell us anything if the "fully vaccinated" guidance is dependent on the "unvaccinated" also following the guidance. We need to know the guidance on the assumption that you're in an indoor public place with unvaccinated people who are not wearing a mask.

Preferably the guidance on the assumption that you're in an indoor public place with unvaccinated person who is infected. That way someone isn't dependent on someone else's behavior.

Do you think the CDC is deliberately ignoring this unknown in issuing their guidance? I don't think it would hurt to clarify this. I suspect the answer could revolve around community vaccination rates.

There are millions of unreasonable people in this country, and this world.
A good portion of them would love to see mass carnage as some sort of proof that they are correct.
There has already been mass carnage.

I’m being cautious for my own health, I don’t want people that are being careless to die, but I don’t think what they are doing is wise.

When I visit the Grand Canyon I don’t want anyone to fall... but when I see people taking selfies on cliffs I think “whoaaaa why are you doing that!!!”
