Disney further relaxes its mask policy for Walt Disney World theme parks but the change suggests Disney World may not drop all mask requirements imminently

Not sure if it is on the table as an option. It would probably cause some competitive issues especially in things like gymnastics where a year longer will make some competitors "elderly" for the sport.

Honestly, if Japan doesn't want to do it this summer, they should find a recent host that still has the venues built and see if they can figure out housing for the athletes and move it. Have no or very limited spectators to avoid issues accommodating large numbers of visitors.

If Japan postpones the Olympics again, which is very likely, it will not be moving anywhere.

Good. I'm among those who are not ready to drop indoor mask requirements yet. You just don't know who is and is not vaccinated, not to mention someplace like Disney has a high amount of children under 12 who can't get vaccinated.

When I am there in September, they will be lucky if I wear shorts, never mind a mask...

I look forward to seeing you in a dress.

Move it to Tampa. They did a great job with the Super Bowl and Covid has been over in FL since September so no issues there 🤪🤪🤪
I would agree whole heartedly except L.A. has hosted 2 Olympics already and still retains most of the infrastructure / facilities to where some modernization / refurb and addition of a few new venues it can be up and ready. L.A. is already starting work for it's third Olympics in 2028 anyway. I am sure the mouse can jump on snagging a sizable share of the visitors seeing as its the originals back yard.

I think the people/organization is far more of a problem than the facilities. Japan had/has a reported 80,000 volunteers, not to mention all the referees/judges/timers/etc. that are needed for each sport. I think with less than 2 months there is no way this could be organized in a different location.

I'm also not sure what the big hang-up for the Japanese is. The vast majority of athletes have been vaccinated, and probably those support staff as well. And if not, there is still time now for it to happen.

I cannot imagine how crushing it would be for the athletes to have this canceled.

Do they mean that the reports will be issued, just not every day? Or that there will be no more reports at all going forward because DeSantis apparently thinks it's over?

Not clear, but would assume just the daily reports?

"Gov. Ron DeSantis' press secretary Christina Pushaw told The News Service of Florida on Friday that there is no need to keep issuing the daily reports.

“COVID-19 cases have significantly decreased over the past year as we have a less than 5% positivity rate, and our state is returning to normal, with vaccines widely available throughout Florida,” Pushaw said in an email.

As of Friday afternoon, Pushaw had not yet responded to a follow-up question on when the last daily report will come out."
