In February 2020, Fauci did say we didn’t need masks, we should be focused more on the flu, and we had nothing to worry about with covid. He had to change his tune because well, frankly, he ended up being wrong.

There have been other times he’s had to provide best guesses, as unfortunately right now Covid isn’t exactly well studied under traditional scientific processes. I definitely respect his advice, and don’t think he’s a moron. I do think he’s a human: and guess what? Humans, even scientists, are wrong at times! But no need for the personal attacks and so on. If public trust eroded because of his mistakes, so be it. But I still give due consideration to his words. Because he does care and is not a Gorn part of the NWO trying to prolong the pandemic to gain money in the potatoes market.

Well....... just like I thought it would happen, it appears the FL State Legislature just passed SB2006. Seems like this just happened from what I am reading on Twitter.

Vaccine Passports will now officially be banned in the State of Florida. This pretty much guarantees Disney World will NEVER require a vaccine passport.

Also from what I am reading, this would apply to Local Governments, Schools, and any business operating under a Florida Business license.

Governor has to sign the bill now but I would be shocked if he does not.

Are they banned from private property also?

What are cruise lines options? Leave Florida? There's pretty much no way cruises will go off the next year without passports.

Disney World does Business under a Florida Business license.

Private property has nothing to do with this one. Disney has no choice but to comply, fight it, or move out of Florida.
Haha, fight it or move out of Florida. Yeah, I'm sure that's on their list.

I never thought for a second they'd require passports. Can you imagine? HA. But serious question, what does this mean for cruise lines departing from Florida ports?

Correct; he eventually realized I think like all of us that covid was not was we believed initially.

My point was that the whole Fauci thing is not binary. Both statements can be true; Fauci had drawn wrong conclusions at times or provided incorrect guidelines, but that doesn’t make it untrue that he’s still a great expert and provided good advice as well. It’s not either or. And even if he was bad at his job (in someone’s eyes) the name calling serves no purpose.

Based on these charts from OC the 3 foot change applies to all situations, not just outdoors. It says “in all settings” and “effective immediately”. Disney doesn’t have to change their rules because of that, but they could make all distancing 3 feet and be in compliance with the local mandate and since the state of FL requires no distancing at all anywhere they would be good at the state level too.

Here's the annoy math to me, the phase 1 seems to be total population, while the other phases seem to be based on the 16+. I'm horrible at reverse calculations so maybe just off?

Very good question about Cruise Lines. I dont know.

They do operate under different laws. So this might not efffect them

I think there's a real question as to whether cruise lines would be controlled by Florida law. I don't think that will happen.
I'm not sure either. I know there are certain laws that apply when the ship is docked (no casino). I would think that that's based around Florida state gambling laws, but I don't know for certain.

Face coverings are still required based on CDC guidance. The distancing didn’t say outdoor only. If that’s the case then they need to update the charts and I take away the Mayor’s A+ for being clear. They went out of their way to say ”in all settings” so it no vague, it’s very specific.
Right, it's a question of "in all settings where masks are required" because this is related to face coverings. Or if it's "in all settings no matter any other mask requirements".

I read it like you, that it's indoors, outdoors, wherever. But, I also read it as also only applying when you're wearing a face covering. You're not wearing one when you dine. This would also line up with that industry study from yesterday.

My read:
Phase 1
  • Wearing a mask, distance reduced to 3 feet everywhere. Wouldn't apply to eating then.
Phase 2
  • Distance reduced to 3 feet everywhere.
  • Outdoors no mask needed. This would mean outdoor dining could be 3 feet. Pretty close to 100%, maybe 85% or 90%.
  • Indoors still need a mask. Meaning, eating would still need more distance inside.
Phase 3
  • No distance required anywhere.
  • No mask required anywhere.
  • Eating could be 100% everywhere.
I'm reading the title header of "Face Covering Executive Order" as setting the context to "when you need a face covering", which wouldn't including dining then, since you're not wearing one then.

The "and/or" on the poster is more confusing. Which is it? Do you need both or just one? If it's just one, which one or is it either? What's the "and" doing there if it's really "or". If it's not "or" at all, then why's the "or" even on the poster? I would definitely deduct "poster points" for this. :)

I'm less thrilled with the percent's being "of the population 16+" instead of "of the population". But, eh, that's a smaller thing. It's at least a definitive policy goal.

Someone please remind these folks that FL (&AK) are suing the CDC to reopen cruising based partly on the CDC overstepping and telling a business how to operate. If businesses find a “passport” in their best interest, the market and disease will tell us if they’re right.

This is gonna be messy for a while, I think.

The issue with vaccination passports is that they would affect people on the ship when out at sea, not just at the docks, like gambling.
