You know what's funny?
Willfully closing one's ears or eyes does not change reality. If the advice the President is receiving suggests that the emergency conditions are going to continue into July/August then the school closures are going to be extended beyond April, and probably the Park closures too. California's Governor has said as much today and Florida and other States will have to acknowledge the same realities sooner rather than later.

to be fair the statement was clarified in the same conference to say that they expect the virus to essentially be gone by that time so we can go back to “normal”. Not that we would be under these strict conditions until then.

Makes sense. The government has to know which beaches get crowded. They could close the bigger tourist beaches and allow the quiet local beaches to remain open. We don’t have beaches here, but my township closed the larger parks with playgrounds but the smaller ones with just waking trails in the woods are still open. It’s impossible to have 6 foot social distancing in a large crowd but a little time in nature is good for us all.

Leave Florida alone. 😂😂

There are millions of people living in condos.. let them go to the beach, and boating, and diving, at a safe distance from others. :)

I think what he meant to say is the virus could still be around in July/August not that we would still be under emergency lock down. Dr Fauci did correct him but the media seized the words and it was too late.

China is starting to return to normal. The quarantines are being lifted and many people are back to work but the disease is still very much there. The rate is around 10 cases a day instead of hundreds or thousands. I think they are saying that could be us as late as July/August.

I have to say that that photo that's being circulated of all those people in Clearwater is not what is uniform across the state, despite spring break or not. That beach is pretty much always crowded. It's like THE beach in Clearwater. However, you can go 7 miles down the road to Indian Rocks and find barely anyone there. On the flipside, you could go to Canaveral National Seashore on the East Coast on most days and have virtually the entire place to yourself. Now, Miami / Ft. Lauderdale is a different story, but I am not surprised they're not closing absolutely all the beaches (at least as of this writing). Our entire state, after all, has beaches bordering it :)

Shush!!!!

This can not be emphasized enough. N95 masks must be reserved for healthcare workers treating patients with or suspected of being infected with COVID-19. If you want to see the healthcare system get overwhelmed, have even 10% of Doctors and Nurses unable to treat patients because they have to self isolate.
Yea thank you!!!! I think people just throw that out there to sound informed. I've been fit tested, I work in healthcare. I totally understand the counterproductive nature of well people wearing masks. I also understand it gives people a false sense of security to wear it but they need to understand you can't just throw on a mask and you are safe. Even with my N95 I was still a little freaked when I had my first TB patient.

Thank you for doing your job! (Sincerely...I don't think healthcare workers and many other fields get the credit they deserve.)

@21stamps A's daycare/school just emailed and offered to drop our tuition to 40% of our rate for the duration of whatever we want to call this, if we're keeping our kids home. They need that 40% to keep their staff paid, which I'm okay with. Hopefully you'll get that type of relief soon ❤

I won’t get any refund on tuition. The kids still have school every day (from home).

We haven’t heard anything about refunds for aftercare or hot lunch Friday.. I don’t care about hot lunch so much, it was $5 per week, id actually rather donate to the local restaurants we would have used.. but the aftercare is $30 per day paid thru the remainder of the year, I would like a refund on that, at least partial.

The other thing I realized is compared to Asia or Europe, our houses and apartment are huge, so alot of people have alot of extra space in a spare room or basement where they can just stockpile supplies. Freezers sales are way up as well.
But in Europe and Asia, there space is very limited so that consequentially controls how much each person can buy to some extent.
This is 100% true. I live in the Netherlands and for the first time am trying to have enough in the house to see me through at least 2 weeks if need be. The problem is that I have nowhere to put things!

Supermarkets have just started emptying out in the past few days since emergency measures came into effect on Thursday and were stepped up on Sunday. Still, they're not as bad as in the US or what I'm seeing from Australia. I have to think that's in part because no-one wants to spend the next few weeks tripping over cans of beans and paper towels in their tiny apartments!

Another update: when WDW reopens later this Spring, expect some changes as we all adjust to the “new normal”. Sure, Purell everywhere, but moreso:

1) if you have an ADR, it may be taken away from you. Until there is a COVID-19 vaccination, restaurant capacities will be significantly reduced to provide 6 ft. between tables. Anyone who has ever dined at a WDW restaurant will understand how significant of a reduction we are looking at.
2) queue changes: fewer people will be allowed in indoor queues, causing them to stack up into walkways. There may be an adjustment to FP windows to better control those crowds. One idea floated is 30-min windows like at DLP. Another option is an expansion of BGs.
3) masks
4) reduction in face character M&Gs. As it is not a zoonosis, furries can’t catch COVID-19.
5) Enhanced push for Mobile Ordering

Y'all....my friend just invited our family to a pool party on Sunday for her son's bday. It's usual suspects. People we see weekly. It was supposed to be a bowling party but she changed if because of the virus. The party is at her dad's house. How in the world.....I just........I know they are going to make fun of us for not going but I don't understand this!!!!!!!!!!!!! People think that hanging out with family is ok because it's family. I feel like a clarification needs to be made. If they don't live with you and you couldn't avoid the exposure, then don't open yourself up to more exposure!
That type of behavior is normal in LA (lower Alabama).

He said the emergency conditions were likely to continue through July/August. This is not rocket science and you do not need to have Phd to understand that the social distancing policies being introduced now will continue throughout the emergency.

I wanted to link what was actually said, but I hope these will do. I’m sure the full update is online somewhere.

The president did not say that we will have closures til August.

We don’t know what will happen, but that’s not what was said, so let’s not worry people more than they’re already worried.

Is this in regards to today's update? I haven't had a chance to watch yet, but C-Span has all the task force update videos with transcripts. I should be able to find a link if I know what the date and time of the update was.
