It is derived from Phase 3 and the period between first and second doses in the subjects.

The last comment by Iwasaki makes one wonder about J&J single dose vaccine. I know they are also working on a two dose regimen.
I am sleepy. I was wondering how they measured antibodies without a blood draw. Not thinking they used other data. So excuse my stupidity - busy time of year for work and due to some happy time off for some and another injuring during a bike ride I'm not thinking straight.

To add to the prengancy. I was tested each time they had to give me a shot to make sure I was not pregnant. They were very much into making sure I was on birth control and had to contact asap if pregnant. As a 43 year old I laugh a little because pregnancy is the last thing I want and not sure how possible given peri-menopause. But still they had to ask and I had to pee in a cup a few times.

Minor adverse reactions occurred in almost all Moderna vaccinated people in the study (Post second shot was 81.9%) from the briefing for tomorrow's meeting.
But it is not straightforward to compare it with Pfizer due to different study protocols.
Sorry, to late for me to read the whole document. What counts as a minor adverse reaction? My arm hurt more the day after my flu shot this year than it has for Amy shot I've ever had. But it still didn't really affect my daily life,ao I wouldn't really count it. Laying in bed for a day with a fever would be a different story.

From NYTimes:
The Trump administration is negotiating a deal to use its power to free up supplies of raw materials to help Pfizer produce tens of millions of additional doses of its Covid-19 vaccine for Americans in the first half of next year, people familiar with the situation said.

Should an agreement be struck, it could at least partially remedy a looming shortage that the administration itself arguably helped create by not pre-ordering more doses of the vaccine Pfizer developed with its German partner, BioNTech. Pfizer agreed this summer to provide the United States with 100 million doses by the end of March, enough to inoculate 50 million people since its vaccine requires two shots.

A whole bunch of states (red and blue) are saying they're getting less vaccines than they originally anticipated and don't know why.

They'll be making phone calls tomorrow to ask.

I wonder if it's due to Pfizer not manufacturing as many doses as they originally planned and there are some states just now finding out how that will impact their allotment. Another possibility is that the loss of doses from the messed up shipments in CA and AL is being divided up amongst the other states to prevent an uneven distribution across the country.

He gave a reason for Floridas delay. MI and IL dont have a reason yet, I hope its not malicious.
His "reason" was "an issue with Pfizer." Not exactly very detailed. He also said it is happening nationwide. Therefore, there is no evidence whatsoever that the MI and IL reductions are malicious.

If the Trump administration was going to be malicious, it would be towards AZ, GA, PA, WI and MI. IL wouldn't be on that list right now. Also, FL would be the last to have reductions or delays if it was an administration decision.

I remember a story a week or so back about Pfizer not being happy with the quality of materials they received from suppliers to produce the vaccine in the early batches. I think that is why production has gone off schedule.

The power of a few badly placed news stories...

I spent last night talking to my 90yo grandmother, who has been taking all this very seriously and following vaccine news anxiously. “Well, I don’t know if I want to get the vaccine now...” “grandma, why?” “People are having bad reactions to it!” (Me: Face palm) “you mean that one nurse in Alaska that had the allergic reaction?” “Yes!” “Grandma, anyone could have an allergic reaction to anything anytime... you get annual flu vaccines, steroid injections every couple months, people are poking you with things all the time! Have you ever had a reaction to anything??” “Well, no. I’m allergic to scallops though.” ... ... “Grandma, there are no scallops in the corona vaccine. Talk to your doctor and see what he thinks, but I think it’s important and I’m going to be getting one as soon as I can and I think you should to!”

I must admit, I originally had reservations about how fast this has come together... but in large part due to the information and banter on the thread about the vaccine programs, I’ve become very comfortable with the safety and efficacy of these efforts and am ready for my jab.

There’s going to be such an uphill battle in communication though among people who aren’t as connected on this issue. I also spoke with an aunt of mine who is very pro vaccine, but is confused at “all of these different ones and maybe I should wait for the best one instead of taking the first one”... mainly, again, based on news reports of ‘issues’ with the Pfizer vaccine.

Look, there are risks with catching Covid. I would rather take the minuscule risk associated with a vaccine. I hope your grandma listens and gets vaccinated :)

I wish the news media would be more responsible, but there's nothing sensational about thousands of people safely getting the vaccine with no reaction. I tell my mother in law not to get her news from TV, but it does no good. They "tease" the allergic reactions, then follow up with a story designed to stir everyone up, and end with but the good news is the vaccine has proven safe for all except those with severe allergies.

Things are bad. Here in CA our daily total was 53,000 cases. Remember when it was a big deal that the whole country had a daily total of 53,000!?! I just dont know how our hospitals are going to take it, even if just 5000 of the cases reported today need hospitalization.
Looking at the chart for CA, I can only assume that yesterday's total was a data dump of some kind. With any kind of mitigation in place, I've never seen that large of a day to day increase in any State. It would mean that the preceding days were likely higher than reported but that type of growth rate in daily cases is highly unusual and would seem to not be possible with the measures that CA had in place. I guess we'll see what happens in the next few days.

It’s an entertainment company. You don’t have to be liberal to like a Disney movie or a Disney park. I know some hard core politics people who refuse to patronize Disney or Amazon because of political leanings but the vast majority of Americans don’t give a damn about politics.
I would say that is the case, and even for most people that do care about politics it’s not a factor in what products they buy.

I can see how some might see it as sensationalism, but I’m actually thankful that news reporters are on the lookout for adverse reactions. This way, when only a few are found, we know it’s not because no one was looking for it.
