I understand the feeling. Occasionally when I turn the page of my weekly agenda I see something that I had scheduled when I had my job back in the Spring. It still amazes me how this virus changed the course of our lives, some more drasticly than others, and some more permanently :/
I'm a little scared with this one. I think its possible for this one to do a last-minute turn into the state where we're not expecting it. the spaghetti plot is wild.

The problem with the Russian roulette analogy is the virus doesn’t care if you are playing or not. Unless you can completely isolate yourself from the world you’re playing

Considering this is like the 94th hurricane this year...enough is enough
. I hope everyone makes out OK. I know the gulf got pounded really hard this year but FL isn’t out of the woods yet. With the recent election and Covid taking up so much attention we still have to focus on other threats too. I hope it doesn’t sneak up on anyone being so late in the hurricane season.

You got that a little wrong. In that study it’s wasn’t shown that the people were infected while wearing a mask and distancing it just said that they did those things regularly when required. They weren’t wearing a mask or distancing at home with family or out to dinner with a few friends (common places where infections occurred per the study). The analogy was specifically in relation to getting together for the holidays. Doing that is playing Russian Roulette and hoping your event isn’t the super spreader. Not getting together with family for the Thanksgiving holiday doesn‘t guarantee you won’t get infected anywhere else, it just guarantees you won’t get it at Thanksgiving. So yes, not getting together is an easy way to not play that specific game.

Oh, you mean the historic cold storage problem that existed prior to both Trump and the COVID PANDEMIC, yes, that’s works, and it is convenient to blame Trump, so ok. I sure hope the new cold storage is exempt from the Green New Deal, as we need real power for the freezers...

Pfizer has a work around for cold storage. They built their own reusable shipping containers that use dry ice. Pretty innovative solution. They also partnered with UPS to build some large freezer farms at certain hubs. The only issue with the Pfizer plan is they need lots of dry ice and with the increase in demand for shipping prepared food items during Covid there actually may be a shortage. The CEO said in an interview they have secured enough dry ice for their vaccine.
On the electricity side, the power from renewables is every bit as real as the power from a fossil fuel plant. In Texas which is one of the fastest growing markets in the country, renewable projects are consistently cheaper than fossil plants even without any tax incentives. I only know this because I’ve read through about fifty renewable power purchase agreements in the past few months and all of the contract prices are substantially below the forward market curve for power in Texas. These are substantially all solar facilities these days as the West Texas market is saturated with wind. There’s only so much power you can move clear across the state to the population centers. Solar can be built much closer to the population. There will always be a need for peaker nat gas plants for grid reliability until the battery technology catches up but we aren’t real close there yet, at least not economically.
I think by the very nature of COVID-19 right now it will be political.

I guess to put it bluntly, since the election is over, can we move away from that topic per se? I come to the WDW forum(s) to get away from it

I think that’s fair. The government response to Covid: the vaccine rollout, mask mandates, any other restrictions added will always impact WDW and all of us, but the specific Trump vs Biden or left vs right back and forth isn’t really relevant anymore now that the election is over. I’d be happy to see us move on from that.As I see; I hate that COVID has become somewhat politically related but it is what it is.

IMO, it is going to remain a mess until January 20th. With 2 Task Forces now, I think it’s going to get worse before it gets better.As I see; I hate that COVID has become somewhat politically related but it is what it is.

Well, putting partisanship gaming aside, Biden's task force won't have actual force of "law" until after inauguration correct?
I would love to see the thread be about purely COVID and WDW. But after 45,000 posts I've been unable to keep it on that subject without any drifting to politics. There are only 2 threads in News and Rumors that are tagged as being likely political, so it is very easy to avoid them. If there is anything of significance with regard to COVID-19 and WDW, it will be reported on the front page of www.wdwmagic.com, so you wont be missing out if you avoid this thread.

Consistently over 5% now. Not good. Action required, but obviously extremely unlikely with the current national and Florida leaders.

And when their recommendations for personal action and responsibilities differ?
Remember, how we are all supposed to just trust people and we don’t need all these orders and mandates. Given the proper info, people will behave appropriately. This will be another opportunity for believers of this strategy to prove it. If things go well, the force of law should be unnecessary for modification of basic, human behavior. Although, it will certainly come into play for procurement, testing, tracing, etc.
