"British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday announced a new month-long lockdown for England after being warned that without tough action a resurgent coronavirus outbreak will overwhelm hospitals in weeks.

On the day the U.K. passed 1 million confirmed COVID-19 cases, Johnson made a sudden about-face and confirmed that stringent restrictions on business and daily life would begin Thursday and last until Dec. 2."

"Under the new restrictions, bars and restaurants can only offer take-out, non-essential shops must close and people will only be able to leave home for a short list of reasons including exercise. Activities ranging from haircuts to foreign holidays must once again be put on hold.

Unlike during the U.K.’s first three-month lockdown earlier this year, schools, universities, construction sites and manufacturing businesses will stay open."

It’s an absolute joke. Close the things that aren’t bad (hospitality, 3% infection) and keep open the things spreading it (education, 45%)

Not to mention most office workers have been working from home since March. They’ve closed the easy targets but kept open those inconvenient or costly to close.

It’s gotta be about pounds sterling, my friend...

Your admin seems to be as blindly inept as ours. I do expect more. Disappointing.

To be honest, up to June they were doing as good a job as could be expected. Since then they’ve lost the plot. Oh, and they’re going to discuss this until Thursday until its implemented. Thank god the virus will wait.

Oh. And we can’t fly. Or Christmas shop. But the tens of thousands of infected students can carry on and come Christmas return home all across the country

And I was supposed to be heading over the pond in a couple of weeks. This really s*cks. UK, France, Germany, Spain. All back in lockdown. This really, really s*cks. Just stay safe. That's the most important thing. Hope you and yours are doing well.

And you would think that after December 2nd, opening up shops again, there will be a pent up surge for people to get their holiday shopping done and bam, another surge

Haven’t seen the usual suspects here in awhile with the “ everything is getter better.. travel is going to explode.. it’s not that bad”.
Come out and play.
This is looking like it will be worse then predicted. Maybe, hopefully, a miracle takes place and it starts going in the right direction. No wants to be locked down again. Messaging is horrible from the top and people are not even close, still 7 months out, to take the steps to try and curb this.

Anyone think US goes into lockdown again?
States will.

I expect it here in Colorado. IMO, Governors are trying to get through next week. No sense locking people down if we're having civil war instead :D But once that is resolved, then I expect the states that aren't trying to kill their constituents will start pulling back significantly. We've already had several moves in that direction, even in one of our more freedom counties.

I think we won't see that until we see people collapsing in the street and an uprising from Doctors/nurses, which is near. But even then I'm not so sure some in our government have enough empathy for that.

I mean this week in the news someone in high places was quoted saying "He's taking the country back from the doctors." ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!?! Its all so heartless.

*sarcasm warning*
He’s gotta take it back from them, ‘cause they’re not sharing their $2k/death bonus and giving it to us lowly support staff. Gotta redistribute the wealth. 😕🙄🤯

So you’re saying Jeff Bezos is behind this whole thing??

I KNEW IT!!!

Couldn’t agree more...I WANT Europeans in Florida...and I want my sorry can on the continent...

But I want all of us to get there legitimately

Maybe because the other team put 100,000 up on the scoreboard yesterday?

(Football analogies tend to be translated more “easily”)

More likely because it’s the same ten people saying the same thing day after day. On any other forum this thread would have been locked 2000 pages ago.
Since it’s now a political thread on a Disney forum. It has nothing to do with Disney. If I want to debate politics and what’s going on the world there are better places.
I guess the people that run this forum are desperate for whatever clicks they can get.
