Gov. Gavin Newsom said Wednesday he is in “no hurry” to reopen Disneyland and other California theme parks just one day after his chief medical officer said state officials plan to issue theme park reopening guidelines “as soon as possible.”

The seemingly conflicting statements symbolize the limbo California’s theme park operators find themselves in as they seek long-promised reopening guidelines from the state after nearly seven months of coronavirus closures.

“We are going to be led by a health-first framework and we’re going to be stubborn about it,” Newsom said about theme parks during a news conference. “That’s our commitment — that’s our resolve. We feel there’s no hurry putting out guidelines.”

Newsom said he was “not surprised at all” by Iger’s resignation from the task force and was “incredibly grateful for his support.”

“There’s disagreements in terms of opening a major theme park,” Newsom said of Iger during the news conference. “We’re going to let science and data make that determination.”

Even with the CA health department allowing DL to open in a higher tier than the state government originally had, it will be at least two weeks before Orange County meets the standards for moving into that tier.

It would be helpful when you claim facts and make blanket statements if you provided a source so others can see where you get your information. To drive by and spit out numbers without proof is a waste of electrons.
tbo.com is not a source it is a newspaper that is respected but failing.
i read it on tbo
