I heard that. I don't even understand how that's terms for expulsion.
Maybe posting pictures of minors without their consent, but again that eliminates anyone with a Facebook account. That just leaves the 1 or 2 weirdos (that I probably would have been friends with) without any social media accounts. That’s an easy way to make sure the students left physical distance ;)

The charges:
1. using phones in the hallways
2. posting pictures of minors (more of a school policy to protect children with battling estranged parents)
3. negging the school on social media

The worst part? This...

District superintendent Dr. Brian Otott said “there’s no question” the photos don’t look good, but argued the images had been taken out of context to criticize the district’s plan to reopen, according to WSBTV. He said the district’s 33,000-plus students continue to learn in-person and remotely during the pandemic.
Under the COVID-19 protocols we have adopted, class changes that look like this may happen,” he said of the photo, “especially at a high school with more than 2,000 students.”

So... "oh yeah, we knew we were going to have packed halls and weren't doing anything to ensure mask compliance besides a PA."

The expulsion threat is for those who post things on social media that is critical of the school and paints it in a bad light.

So...the way around it would be to post it sarcastically, as in “So glad to be spending time with all my friends in school today.”

A different article that was previously posted also mentioned that most of the hallways are one-way at the school, but that this particular hallway was one of (2) 2-way hallways, which is why the school admins claimed it’s misleading. However they are quoted as saying the school had 2K students, and there was nothing they could do about crowded hallways. (HINT-perhaps stagger the bell schedule?)

I don’t even think they can ask for mask compliance. Didn’t the governor sign an executive order banning any rules requiring masks in the whole state?

It certainly helps that school is going remote a lot of places now and a lot of people are working from home. I still think FL needs to get off the naughty list before a lot of people will be willing to go there. It’s too bad for the tourism economy that the timing didn’t work out for the summer, but if they can get cases down and keep them down through the fall there’s a hope for a bump from the holiday season. I still think it’s Spring before we see a meaningful increase in demand for tourism overall. Most people are just laying low for now.
After attending the orientation tonight for school, I doubt the kids will be distancing. Many of the classrooms consist of the double seat tables. The hallways are about 8ft apart because lockers were not originally part of the school, so no distancing there. And they are the stack style so either a kid will be over or under mine. The district said only 20% of the district chose Elearning, so not many will be missing in her school. If I'd seen what the setup was before, I'd have chosen it, and depending on the next week I may force them to transfer her to it. On top of the transportation department didn't bother to show up, so don't have a bus number, location, or pick-up and drop off times and we start Monday. I highly doubt that multiple kids won't be effected by a single positive case.
We usually plan another vacation before our plane even lands at home, it's all on the back burner until some pre-covid park normalcy is back. Just not worth the overall cost with the park hours. The good news is that also means we'll have a larger vacation budget for later on and can do a couple special things we'd usually say no to. *Galatic Starcruise I'm eyeballing you*

I'm shocked with the amount of people here that still have plans to go to Disney from out of state. With how much the virus is still spreading in state vacations I would have thought would be on the rise.

My kid‘s district had a plan to give parents the option but they decided to go all virtual. The bus situation was the one thing that was really lacking. They only committed to attempting to limit bus seats to no more than 2 kids if possible. How is that distancing in any way. It’s logistically challenging to come up with ways to distance in certain aspects of school, but that just seemed to me like an attempt to get everyone to drive their kids to school.

Perhaps they should just set up classes and home rooms in a way that would allow the students to remain in the same classroom all day and have the teachers change classrooms.

They are doing double bus runs in my sons district. A bus will do half it’s normal route drop off students and then do the other half of their route.

My district is doing that for middle school, but not possible at the high school level. In middle school (grades 6-8 here) students are in classes of the same grade level. However, HS has a greater amount of electives and classes that can have a mix of grade levels. This all assumes in person schooling, which won't be determined until 2 weeks prior to schools start, which is its own issue.

Found out today my boss of 3.5 years tested positive with her husband today. He is a firefighter and sounds like he took it home. Thankfully, most of our office has still been wfh. In June, we had been going into the office on the same days.

Our district was considering that for certain classes.

Our district was planning on doing double bus runs too but they normally have 3 kids to a seat at the elementary school level so that’s still some seats with 2 kids if nobody opts out. It also was making it so the kids picked up first got to school up to 45 mins early and the kids on the 2nd trip home waiting around up to 45 mins for the bus to come back. I think they were hoping enough people opted out of busing and just dropped their kids off and picked them up.

Thank God for work from home. My office is setup almost exactly the opposite of what you would want with a pandemic: open office, no cubicles, cafeteria with salad bar and hot buffet area, no way to distance. We found out earlier this week we are working from home until Jan 4 now.

Oh wow, Jan 4. It's almost surreal to hear a date like that considering offices started closing in... March. We don't have a date but it's basically until further notice at this point. When they hear about cases within the office I'm sure no one is in a rush to come back. There are some going in but it's completely voluntary and I'd guess less than 10% are going in regularly.

We have a nice large cafeteria with salad bars and other self service stations. When I went back in June almost all of that was closed, with one area for pre made sandwiches and salads and one "hot bar" with burgers/chicken sandwiches. It's possible, but it's not ideal.

The crazy part is I’m pretty sure I left my coffee cup on my desk with a little bit of coffee at the bottom. I can‘t even imagine what‘s growing in their now. I thought I’d be back the next day and haven‘t been back in almost 5 months now. We have some people who were deemed essential for the summer in the office and starting Oct 1 they are allowing people to go back with permission but limited to 25% of capacity and only in staggered desks. We also have a thermal camera in the lobby and they shut down all the common areas like cafeteria, seating areas, gym and even the kitchenettes with the coffee makers. I have no reason to go back if 3/4 of my team is going to be at home anyway.

We did the staggered desk thing in June. I expect that when we do start to go back again, that's still the case. I was only going into the office twice a week for 3-4 weeks until we shut it back down when the cases spiked.
