Why aren’t people getting reinfected then?

Some people are getting reinfected.

I'd be curious about the larger picture, how many people have been infected twice already.

As of the last time we looked at this question in our hospital group (about two weeks ago), most of these "re-infection" cases that get reported are probably sick with something else. The test comes back positive again usually due to residual viral particles that the body hasn't yet cleared, but they're not actually shedding viable, infectious viruses (which can only be determined by viral culture, a test not routinely done on most people because of the time and expense involved).

Not saying it couldn't happen or hasn't happened, but most of these cases reported by the media don't pan out upon further investigation.

Oh interesting, thanks for the insight. Sometimes I learn new things on these fine boards 👍

View attachment 481845This is from the Texas medical Covid staff and others ranking most risky to less risky. I’m not saying this is what is real. Always has to be a disclaimer it seems anymore when you post. 🙂

This lines up with DoD orders given to the armed forces. The high risk activities listed are all banned for service members.

I was saying for states that require a 14 day quarantine getting a test doesn’t mean you and your kids wouldn’t also need to quarantine for 14 days. The test doesn’t cancel the quarantine.
I don’t live in one of those states, at least not yet. I think the governor is considering it right now. I don’t know if he would just join with NY/NJ/CT or have his own metric. Whether it’s required or not at the state level I do think anyone who travels to a tourist area should probably at least consider it. I have a friend who is going to Yellowstone in a few weeks and even though Wyoming isn’t on the list for quarantine they are still planning on doing it for the 14 days when they get back.

Edit: I see now that PA has now officially joined in on the travel restrictions. Same 15 states that NY/NJ/CT have. So I would have to quarantine 14 days upon returning from FL and many other places. Gonna stay local this summer.

But lots of places are still mostly locked down and require masks. This is confusing.
That is the thing with this virus, I truly believe these experts don't have a grasp on what will come next with it or how to handle it other than the basic wear the mask, social distancing, and washing hands/hygiene. It seems likes things change with this virus quite frequently.
