Just an Idea. If protests DON'T cause spikes in COVID-19, then instead of a vacation to Disney, why not call it a Disney Protest? Instead of sending the kids to school in the fall, call it an in school Protest.

My daughter plays Division 1 college volleyball. All athletes in her school (350) are getting tested. All NCAA college athletes in the country (460,000) are getting tested. We can agree that these young adults, men and women are probably the fittest, strongest out of all of us. They have to be to play college sports. So who cares if they are asymptomatic? Nothing bad will happen to them. They will be quarantined for 14 days and then start their seasons. And yes, they announced full in classroom classes come August.

There is no need to panic.

When more stuff opens, more people get tested and more cases are found. More Asymptomatic cases. We take the proper steps to be safe and life goes on. If we tested everyone in the US we would have double the cases we have now.

What we are not talking about is the stress, panic and loss of money we are all facing. Loosing your job making $1,000 a week and having to live on $250 a week is a big hit in the face. The stress and panic wear on the body. Having to quit your job because you have to stay home with your kids because school is not opening is stressful. Some of us will not recover. Telling your kids they have to eat PB&J for lunch because you can't afford lunch meat or cheese, is awful. Why so a few people don't get the sniffles.

We need to think of what happens to the people who are barely making ends meet. Pushing back the opening of WDW is not about riding Space Mountain or Dole Whips. It is about the people who work there, who need a pay check.
The sniffles?

Exactly the problem in my state. I work in a Hispanic community. Across the street from the hospital Saturday night there’s a soccer tournament and big party going on. Probably a thousand people unmasked. I’m not saying this stuff shouldn’t be allowed I’m on the anti lockdown side, but our stupid governor closed gyms. Closing gyms is not going to solve the problem. People that go to gyms are health conscience. Theywere social distancing and taking precautions. I guess he needed to calm the hysterical media and make it look like he was doing something.
Ah gyms, enclosed buildings with multiple touch points and sweaty people, why wouldn't that be open right? ;)

I agree. The protests themselves are probably even more problematic than the outdoor parts of a theme park, especially with parades and fireworks cancelled. The only real bottlenecks for groups outside at a theme park is at the front gates but that hopefully doesn’t last very long.

Spot on. I think duration is key for most viruses so spacing out and moving right along should be very helpful.

You just triggered me. Our mall doesn't have Sbarro anymore. I don't know if it makes me uncool but I loved that place. 🍕

What's your mall North Shore, Pheasant Lane, Liberty Tree, Rockingham or another one?

My dad had a spinach calzone there before we got on a plane.

......Let's just say... it's true about people farting on a plane. One lady pinched her nose and said "IT'S THE WORST!". While another brought her baby to the bathroom to see if she pooped her diaper. She declared loudly upon return "SHE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING."

I'm surprised the oxygen masks didn't drop down from the ceiling. The stewardess refused to bring anyone drinks in our section. There were no free treats as well. It was like she hit an invisible wall, she retreated back towards the front to seek refuge from it. I should have known my Dad did it because he was being very quiet during the flight, which is rare for him.

He didn't fess upto his aroma until we landed two and a half hours later.

Totally I'm sure thats where the outbreak is coming from. I guessing you never go to the gym. They gyms have gone above and beyond to make it safe.
Does every post from you have to include a political reference of a media reference and also need to degrade the person your responding to? A quick look at your posts and it seems 9 out of 10 do it in one way or another. Lighten up.

Gyms have always been gross. DVD's and home equipment have been my go to for years now. Gyms can only do so much. Is there an attendant that is waiting for everyone to get off the equipment, wipe it down in between people? Of course not.

I think the confusing thing has been the relative lack of discussion about how the majority of the cases appear to be spreading. They will implicate a bar here or there but that's not telling the whole story. If the studies are true, it takes a reasonably close contact to pass the virus along. There are even some theories that people who test positive but never get symptoms had less contact with a sick person. That could explain some of these asymptomatic clusters if the viral load is enough to pass it but not enough to cause symptoms in a large subset of people. All I know is that there will often be a comfirmed case at a gym or diner and it never seems to spread. Or we don't hear about it. Same thing happened with my friend's apartment complex. Someone tested positive and it was in the news so many of the tenants got tested. If anyone else tested positive, it wasn't in the news. I feel like community spread is one small piece of the puzzle. Most of it must be from families and friends and coworkers.

You should preface your remark by saying in your opinion gyms are gross. Millions of people enjoy them.

Contract Tracing in this country is abysmal. That is why we can never really track down cases unless they are massive clusters.

In the absence of data, common sense should prevail. Gyms require you touch several different pieces of equipment, require no masks and you are very close proximity of other people that are often coughing/sweating near people and equipment. To me, its a no brainer to not go to a gym right now.

You are not in close proximity to other people and viruses aren't spread through sweat. Gyms have changed everything to make them safe. You obviously aren't aware of this.

I don't disagree about gyms but only because I don't belong to one. I should though lol. Other people really depend on it for their health and goals.

Bars are clearly risky if distancing is impossible and I don't care about them because I don't drink but the owners care. I just feel like letting small businesses collapse while others thrive is depressing. There's gotta be a way darn it.

No actually I got it, but it unfortunate that you needed to clarify that to point out what’s so obvious. One thing that has been shocking to me over the 3 months is that New Yorkers put up with all this.
New Yorkers do more than they are given credit for...which might explain why they don’t take too well to criticism from other parts? Just a theory.

There’s a certain “Napoleon complex” that has been growing by certain political affiliations for decades in this country...it’s just how it’s trended. I think lack of self awareness to it is also a thing.

Our gym has a restaurant, hair salon, spa, Indoor and outdoor Olympic size pools with huge slides for the kids. An amazing kids club, 3 basketball courts, rockwall, saunas, hot tubs, and two lap pools. Not to mention summer camps and numerous activities and classes for kids and adults. It's a big part of our community along with the YMCA which is also closed.

Lifetime is about $250 a month...in case anyone is wondering...

This is an interesting piece of info for your psychological profile, FYI 🤔
