Steps Disney should take if they close their parks.

1. Guarantee every Cast Member their current Salary for up to 2 to 4 months even if they have to close that long.
2. Buy Seaworld and do the same for all employees in those parks.
3. Cut all expansion until after the parks are reopened. I know many will hate this but in the long run the good will gained by doing 1 and 2 above will more than make up for it and the money to do it has to come from somewhere.
4. Offer to buy the hotels by Disney Springs and the Swann, Dolphin and Cove and do the same for their employees.
5. Offer the timeshares off property deals to give their owners some WDW benefits for the same fee the Disney Springs Hotels pay.

These steps and a few other would help Orlando and Tampa recover from this disaster.

Lets be honest, this is far worse than 9/11 and a lot of cast members are not going to have a job when we come out on the other side of this whole thing

I think a lot of people in general may not have a job. For example, my husband's boss is a typical middle-management, chew-em-up-and-spit-em-out guy (he's actually the company owner)...I wouldn't put it past him to just retire and say screw all their more than 50 employees.

So tell us how you really feel about him.

Wow, having been in my 30s on 9/11 (meaning, I wasn't a kid or not born yet--I actually experienced it) and having lost more than a few friends/colleagues on that day, I personally can say this comparison is way off base.

Disney in Japan is actually closed right now.

WDW Orlando is the only one holding out for money while the NBA has shutdown the season and March Madness is a shell of what it once was due to lockdown.

There is no excuse for WDW to still stay open.

Disney has kept The NBA Experience open despite it making thousands ill after recognizing what a waste of money it was to go in there. I don't think they care what the repercussions are if they get their money up front.

DAS is perfectly adequate for autistic children. It's NOT adequate for people who demand front-of-line access and pitch a fit when they don't get what they want. (Speaking as an autism mom who actually got into quite the verbal war with a group member because said group member couldn't grasp the fact that a system that can be abused is of no use to anyone.)
My son is autistic and we are fine to wait outside the lines! It works fine for us. I’m sure it doesn’t work for some but the lines are the issue for us. Now we can get our return time and take him for some ice cream while we wait.

What was your first post?

It's the post that started the thread.

"For starters, I'm a hypochondriac who lives and works in NYC. Already, we're off to a good start (and I fit the stereotype). Even with every precaution, even with assurances in print that there are no confirmed cases in the city, I'm getting a little worse for wear with each passing day. This is also crimping my desire to travel. Especially to metropolitan areas (which strike me as obviously a little more prone to spreading the virus). And if I had a trip coming up for Disney, I wonder if I'd think twice. In NYC alone, Chinatown is suffering, taxis aren't picking up asian passengers/passengers aren't stepping into taxis with asian drivers, restaurants are beginning to struggle, tourism is suffering due to the lack of international visitors.

Life is a roll of the dice. Anything can happen. Violence, accidents, transportation mishaps. But I'm wondering when (not if) the coronavirus is going to hit to the point that it affects travel and, more specifically, WDW. Does Disney have plans in place beyond limiting hours and laying off performers?"

Well, in the few hours since my last post the Dutch government has announced that the virus has reached a tipping point after they basically ignored it and they are now banning all gatherings of over 100 people. Major tourist attractions the Van Gough Museum and Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam will now be closed at least until the end of March. Also looks like university lectures will go online.

I am thinking more and more that things are not looking good for Disneyland Paris staying open.
