Just stop. @The Mom has been clear that the debate on how deadly the virus is is off limits. There’s plenty of other news today on actual re-opening plans (based in reality) and even a fun little side tangent on vaccines coming this year. :)
I thought politics were off limits, but it doesnt seem to be the case today.

For what it's worth... Don't mean to keep bringing up Pigeon Forge... A lot of the museum attractions reopening are requiring a reservation first before coming to the museums.

How dare you keep bringing up theme parks and attractions in this political thread! :p

Pigeon Forge does seem to be the town to watch. Their version of Disney springs / city walk - “the island” was already open on Mother’s Day, so they are well ahead of Florida.

I think theatre shows start in early June? Some Branson shows start this weekend as well. Branson scenic railway opens the first week of June.

I believe the people who own Dollywood (Dolly Parton is only the spokesperson for the park, I dont think she completely own's it) own Silver Dollar City.

Dollywood also has some accommodations open as well.

Yes they do it’s Herschend Entertainment. Of note, herschend is family owned so they do not have to answer to a corporate board of directors or shareholders.

The FL Governor will announce today that Florida is ready for Phase 2 that could happen as soon as tomorrow (we enter PH2 or Monday). Phase 2 will green light the theme parks to open, Universal already submitted it's plans on how to operate, Disney got the union stuff out of the way. I fully expect Universal will open in June and Disney will have to follow.

So did this happen?

Here is what was announced today -

"Full Phase 1" will go into effect Monday.

Restaurants and Retail will go to 50% capacity. Museums and Libraries 50% capacity.

Gyms will be reopening Monday (I believe at 50% capacity). Professional sports facilities will be open to train.

Amusement/Theme parks will be able to submit reopening plans to the state and need an endorsement from their local, governing official. Also to identify the date they believe they can resume operations safely.

Bars will remain closed.

Vacation Rentals (short term) - counties can submit requests/plans to state.

No Phase 2 announcement. No indoor movie theaters will be open yet.

Nope, not for a while. They are literally cancelling June reservations as we speak.
While I wouldn’t expect a park opening before July, the cancellations are only through the first week of June. They basically have only cancelled the next three weeks at this point.
They’ve been doing a week at a time which makes sense for the reservation line. Cancelling a whole month and then making people wait on hold for hours is bad customer service, especially when some of those people have been cancelled on once already. If next week they don’t cancel the 2nd week of June then that’s something to talk about.

Yep. Again I highly doubt we see any opening before mid July. However, given that they would likely need at least a week or two for government approvals and then 1-2 weeks for prep once approved, the current level of cancellation is not an indicator of extended closure. It would be physically impossible for them to open before the June 6th date they’ve currently cancelled through.
