I think we’ve beaten the mask debate to death, but is there anyone who still doubts that Disney having a mask requirement is going to be a problem? No matter which side of the issue you fall on it’s pretty obvious that there are going to be issues with that type of policy. I know what Chapek said in the interview but we’re months away from an opening. I don’t see the public sentiment getting any better. Maybe the DS opening will be a test run. I don’t see them requiring masks when the parks open or if they do enforcing that rule, maybe they are just strongly recommended for guests and required for CMs. That will also likely delay the opening of the parks.
I wonder if they'll maybe have a mask requirement for certain situations like when on the bus since that is a smaller enclosed space.

The six flags reservation system is not a paid one. You just need any ticket or membership

As of this morning. There is a not a charge for the reservation, but the concept of having a ticket prepaid for the selected date before you arrive at the gate because you will not be able to buy one in person is now a thing.

Umm, my information was right from Six Flags. What that USA today article is stating, you cannot buy a ticket day of. But there is no additional charge to make the reservation. If you are a member, you put in your member number. If you buy an advanced day ticket, you put in your order number.

EDIT: Just noticed your edit. I was commenting on the fact that you mentioned Six Flags requiring a paid reservation. That initial comment was in response to someone else stating they did not believe Disney would require you to pay for a reservation on top of an AP/ticket that this rumor was based on.

USA today spoke to Six Flags directly as well. You are arguing something seperate that I do not understand I guess.

Your ticket or admission is your reservation. Traditonally, in theme parks worldwide parks you would show up and be able to buy a ticket there that day, even if the prices were different or even if specific to that day you could still purchase if there is occupancy left. That is now changed to needing to be paid beforehand to hold your spot, the definition of a paid reservation, you have to make the payment first and in advance to hold your spot for entry. That is what the information brought up in my post was showing. Reservations are now REQUIRED for Six Flags park. They are saying you will not be able to just show up and pay for parking or enter at whatever time or day you want with a valid ticket.
If you had to pay extra on top of that, that is not a reservation. That would just be an extra charge.

The fact that they are treating their Annual Passholders better was not the point. The point is there is now a precedent for reservations to be prepaid before arriving at the park and no way to purchase tickets at the gate.

it is actually a pretty awesome park if you like wooden coasters - some of the best (and scariest) i've ever been on

Agreed. It is also the start of RMC's roots. For those who love coasters, pretty legendary. It is a nice fun park, the fact that it is in Idaho and offering the great service of free masks for guests is only a compliment and testamant to a pretty good service standard.

That might make more sense. Today where I live I can go outside and walk around without a mask but I need one to enter a store or any building really and I would need one on a bus. Might solve some of the heat issues. You mask up when riding the bus, entering a store or entering a ride queue but while walking around you can keep it off. Could be a decent compromise.

I have tickets dated August 16th. 7-day park hoppers. I bought them from AAA in January to beat the annual Feb/Mar price increase. Seems like a lifetime ago...

We are staying at Kidani. Depending on flights we may stay one night before at All-Stars.

Since we are already staying on property and our tickets are already dated, is there something else I should be worried about? I understand the parks could still close due to capacity like Christmas week.

The only park hopping we were really planning was for Rise of the Resistance.

I mean, if they are open again by August, the only thing I’d worry about is what is actually open. Is it all 4 parks? Just two? Just MK?

A lot of people are mentioning plans with no Epcot opened. Has this come from somewhere or just an assumption at this point?
There have been rumors that not all the parks would open at once. EPCOT is the obvious choice to stay closed longer due to heavy construction, focus on shopping and dining in world showcase which may have severely limited capacity in the beginning phase of re-opening and the fact that some international CMs went home and may not be able to fly back to the US yet. Nothing firm or concrete.

That's what I'm thinking.

The idea of a full time 100% must wear mask rule never made sense to me. You'd have to make exceptions while people are eating or drinking (or feeling overheated). At WDW people walk around with snacks and drinks all the time. People would figure out pretty quick that as long as they're holding a bag of trail mix or a water they won't be hassled about putting a mask on.

This. I noticed it a few weeks ago walking around my neighborhood and thought... yeah, that'll be a travel hack on Disney Food Blog one day.

Also, those people are the dregs.

It looks awesome. I'm looking for something to do the first week of July. I moved my WDW trip from July to August and my August trip to next year. My parents used to have a Summer home in Cour d laine for a few years. My mom sold it after my dad died. I was in college at the time and never made it up there.

Thanks for clarifying, I thought your original response was stating that six flags would require you to pay for a reservation, even if you had a membership. I thought that because you were replying to someone saying they did not see them charging for reservations (even if they have an AP).

Sorry for any confusion.

Sadly if they do actually have a mask rule and that’s what people resort to to beat it then they will probably either restrict eating to certain areas (pretty hard to do) or just shut things down again. I don’t think the mask rule is a great idea and I just wouldn’t go if they have it. If people go with the intention of breaking the rules and being confrontational then it’s just going to ruin it for the people who are willing to actually follow the rules. Just stay home or find a vacation spot that isn’t requiring masks.

I can imagine that the need for water would increase because of the masks. So, I really don't know what Disney can do in that regard. Designating a spot for people to hang out and drink water? Where and how do they limit capacity? What if someone is keeling over from the heat? And who's going to enforce it? There are so many rules in place that even if people weren't intending to break the rules, they would. People could come up with excuses once they're covered in sweat and reach that meltdown hour.

And your last line is wishful thinking. There are many on here who claim they'd wear masks but let's be honest, there are so many variables. I can't even walk 10 blocks with a mask on a sunny day here with a high of 70 degrees without feeling the heat. And I'm in shape.
