Coronado Springs vs AS Sports

Hi All,

Thinking of switching from AS to CS. With Free Dining, I'm still under budget this year! Any opinions? We're doing 4 days of the parks and a day to play. I've got two girls under 10yo, they like kiddie pools and I think the dig site looks coll but otherwise not sure of differences...

Thanks, Glenda

I made the same switch 3 trips ago and have stayed at CS since...I love it!! It's so nice, and at night is so peaceful w/ the hammocks by the water. I highly recommend it. :)

that's like asking do I switch fron the CS to the GF...

:)

I know it does seem sort of obvious, huh? But, that money could be spent on stuff in the parks too. My kids are very good at wanting pretty much everything they see!

I was really sort of hoping for why it's better other than it definitely looks prettier. Actually staying there, are the rooms bigger, busses lighter, etc?

Help!:hammer:

I have not stayed at CS, but I've heard that people really like it. From the pictues I've seen, it's really pretty.

It all comes down to what you are looking for in a resort. CS is more expensive than AS Sports, but it's also quieter. AS Sports has the large icons that children tend to love and CS has the beautiful landscape. CS has a slide at the pool. AS Sports doesn't.

Have stayed @ both. Definitely, do Coronado Springs. We stayed there for the first time last year & have booked there for this year. As the above post mentions: It is very peaceful, especially in the evening. The Dig Site is Magnificent. There are also (2) Game rooms, a Sand Volleyball Court, Water Slide, Playground, 4 person Surrey Bikes, Watercraft & 4 other pools in addition to the Dig Site. I Highly recommend it. ENJOY!!!

P.S. Request building 9B facing the Main Lake & you will be in a prime location. Closest to the Main Building, Closest to the Main Bus stop, across the bridge from the Dig Site & Hammocks right outside your door.

Dedicated bus transportation! With the CS being a "convention resort", even if the resort is full, most of the guests are at the convention. There were many days we were the only two on the bus.

The only con was the food court. More expensive. But since we eat at the parks (or other resorts), we found that breakfasts could be done cheaper (free refrigerators in the room) with a little planning (Gift Shop milk and OJ:lol: ).

Warning: Once you upgrade you might not want to ever stay at a Value again.

Yes, the rooms are a little larger. The busses, I'm not 100% sure since I haven't stayed there (or AS's)

We have stayed at several different resorts, OKW, the Values, PO and CSR. Most recently we stayed at CSR (our first and only time) in Dec. 22-31 2006. We were NOT impressed. We had 6 kids in our group, we were close to the buses and the main check in area. HOWEVER we were a hike and a half away from the Dig Site. This is a convention resort and is laid out accordingly. You will do an enormous amount of walking..far more than at any of the values IF you spend much time at the Dig Site. Also, the food court is self serve counter service and you still get that 15% tip added on (we never could figure that one out, we placed our order, picked up our food, took our food to our table, ate our food and paid an extra 15% although with the dining plan that wouldn't matter). However, if you are close to the Dig Site then you will be far from the food area and drinks.

They do have three different bus stops. But there is no que like at the values so you have no idea how many people are waiting for buses to which parks. But the whole resort shares buses, they don't have seperate buses for MK bus stop 1, bus stop 2 and bus stop 3. So if the MK bus fills up at Bus stop 2, the next bus SHOULD (but not always it depended on the drivers when we were there) start at 3 and work back around.

I wouldn't say CS was a bad resort, it just wasn't the most kid friendly resort we have been to. Although the dig site is incredible, we had less drawer space in the rooms and with children you never seem to have enough space.

CSR has the best transportation out of any resort hands down. The busses were never packed and always on time. There are 4 bus stops all the busses go straight to stop #2 and go to 4 then 4 then 1. The only exception is downtown disney busses which go straight to stop 1. The reason they did that is so you can use the downtown disney bus to get to the other stops if you are at the main one. And you can use the busses that go to the parks to get back to the main building if you need to. It sounds confusing but its posted at all the stops.. As far as the gratuity at the pepper market, i always take my food to go and never have to pay it. Enjoy your stay.

Okay, I just booked it and I'm going to wait until we actually pull in to tell DH and DDs! Hope I can figure the bus thing out!

Congratulations! I've never stayed at either, but I'd prefer the CS by far. More amenities (I like spending some time at my resort, and you already indicated you planned one non-park "fun" day), bigger pool, bigger rooms. And while no room request is a guarantee, you can certainly request to be near the playground, if you think that's important.

I know you have already upgraded, but I was thinking that for the price difference between a value and moderate over 3 nights that you could pay for another night at All Stars. That would be my recommendation, and you get another day at WDW.

I understand what you're saying but.. after the magic, the real world calls! So, no more time and we have to get back...
