I'm getting ready to book for a quick weekend trip in early February. The Coronado looks interesting online, but if anyone has any recent experiences there, I'd appreciate some feedback. Thanks! :wave:

I stopped by Coronado Springs just a couple weeks ago to pick up race packets for the Tower of Terror 13K run and while I was there, took the opportunity to snoop around a little.
I've stayed there twice in the past and loved everything about the stay, both times.
Currently, it is the only resort I know of that sells individualized refillable mugs, so that's a plus right there. Its mugs have the 3 Caballeros, while all other hotels have the Year of a Million Dreams mugs.
The newly added full service bar looks fantastic.
I would definitely recommend this resort hotel to any of my friends. It is no more spread out than Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans Riverside.
If you have toddler aged children, they might enjoy a value hotel more, just because the Disney characters are more over the top there, and you see more stroller age kids staying there.

Great place, we stayed there last Nov. of 07 and found it to be very nice. Yes it is spread out, but thats because it's also a convention center, soooooo they have to accomidate large number of people thru the year. there was a convention going on while we were there, but still the place was very quiet. as for the bus stop we chose a place close to the next to last stop for the buses, which meant that there wasn't a long wait for the bus to get to where it was going, and it was not really crowded at the end of the day. Rooms are set up like value but are larger and at least the room we were in had a small fridge too. Because we have been placed far from bus stops at the values I really didn't mind walking, the place is really set up very well, theme, it's set up with quiet in mind. I say go for it, try to experience as much of the resort as you can. But, one warning, in the pepper market, don't DON'T eat the lentil soup, it tastes great but the after affects.................. well it will keep you seated for awhile. :animwink:

Stayed there in October and we loved it. It was beautiful.
Only downside: :lookaroun Food was too pricey at PepperMarket.

I'm going in January, but I was wondering how the Pepper's Market works? I see you use some kind of stamp card? But whats the 10% gratuity added for?

The 10% gratuity is added because unlike the other food courts, you have servers who bring you your food and clean up after you leave. I think that is terrible but hey, whatever works best. I personally like the All Star food courts.

They also bring you your drinks and refills, but if you are getting your order to go, you don't have to pay the 10%.
it isn't the worst thing in the world. I know of a lunch club in my town - buffet - where the mandatory charge is 18% for the same level of service. :shrug:

Actually, they don't bring you your food. They take your drink order and clean up the tables. You go to whichever station you want to order from, order your food, wait for food and they stamp your card. There is some difference of opinion on whether the 10% gratuity is included on the dining plan or not. We did not pay 10% on the dining plan in September. However, the best way to avoid it in case they've changed that, is to ask for your food to go. We often do this and sit outside by the lake and enjoy the view. There is no other counter service restaurant where you can get a rib eye for a counter service meal.

We are thinking of staying at CS next year after what happened to us at CB this year. We have stayed at CB for the past 5 out of 6 years and I have never seen this before. My daughter developed a nasty cough the first day there. We thought nothing of it until we discovered mold in our bathroom. Parts of the ceiling were black. Needless to say we were horrified. They moved us that day to a different room and gave us back 50% of the two days we were already there. I know this doesn't happened that often but I think it is time to stay somewhere else.

So if you get it to go you wont have to pay 10% for something that you could easily do yourself? But are there tables anywhere other than in the peppers market to eat so that we wouldn't have to carry our food all the way back to our room, considering there is a chance of having a room on the opposite side of the resort.

Yes, there are tables right outside the doors of the Pepper Market by the lake. My husband and I often take our food out there to eat to watch people on the boats or to just relax amongst the beauty of the resort.

CS ia awesome!! Beautiful setting, fun/huge pool, delicious foods, nice rooms and fun activities make it very enjoyable. It is a very large resort, though. If you don't mind some walking, it is definately a super place. The atmosphere is great, too. I love the music as you walk and the buildings look authentic to Mexico/New Mexico.
CS is also a large convention center and attracts cnferrences and businesses but it shouldn't stop you from having an awesome time!! We like to stay in a diff resort every time we go but this one is my fav.

CSR is beautifully themed. My wife and I loved it. It is large and spread out, so if that bothers you, you might want to pick a smaller resort such as POFQ. It's quiet and pleasant just to walk the grounds around the lake. Marina rentals are available too. There's a cool new lounge/night club-- Rix Lounge, which is a beautiful, upscale and trendy bar.
