We drive past it about two times a week, and I complain about it just about every time. We went this week to look around as part of a group... I'm not saying I take back everything I said, but it is growing on me. My first thought upon entering was that it seems like a Four Seasons lobby with more color and I hate it. The more I looked around the more I accepted it. My initial and repeated disdain was the fact that I don't like towers (except for the Contemporary) on WDW. When I first entered the hotel I flet let down, because I want to be wowed the way I was with the old Poly lobby or the current WL or even Animal Kingdom Lodge to a slightly lesser degree. As a hotel, it is beautiful. I think we all want old Disney to come back and wow us with their creativity and their storytelling, but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon if ever. The view from Toledo was great - we're eating there in 2 weeks after a trip to visit the in-laws. Now that I've warmed to it and when it's alive with families and guests I'm excited to see how I feel about it. Of course, right after a visit to the in-laws even the Magic Castle might seem nice...

Definitely has that original WDW vibe from what I have seen and heard.

I’m not allowed to share photos from a certain closed FB group without permission, but someone there has posted pics of the pineapple fountain drained, being cleaned.

Apparently it is being turned into a planter, as this area will no longer be the entrance lobby.

RIP beautiful fountain.

I can’t wait to see pics of the soon to be former registration/concierge area once they open up the walkway to the tower check in. Does anyone know what this area will become? And more importantly, are we going to lose our hidden Mickey?

These windows have been boarded over for quite a while now. Should be open very, very soon.

I'm going to miss that fountain.

PttP has mentioned several times that the current lobby will be used as an overflow area for groups and events. I think he got that info from spreaking to management there but I'm not sure.

I didn’t realize they were changing the registration area. I thought maybe the tower had its own. I loved that fountain. :(

Disney's focus here centers around convention attendees I can't imagine someone at a convention not liking what I see so far. The knock on the Coronado for a convention was the distance from your room to the convention halls. Looks like a win for Disney on all fronts on this one.

I’m a frequent regular CSR guest - it’s a big win for us too. There’s really not much to complain about ... except for the loss of the fountain.

I’m still very intrigued to see what this former entrance/registration area looks like next week/next month. Surely the desks, counters will be removed, but guests in the tower will need to walk through en route to El Mercado, The Rix, Panchitos, etc. Perhaps they will close it off one side at a time. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Will they change the check in parking and where you enter to check in to the Tower? Sorry, if this has been discussed already- I just did not even think of the check in changing if you stayed outside of the Tower. We get there 8/24- we never do online check in. I just prefer to do that in person when we get there.

I would assume so, but not totally sure. All will become apparent Monday, I guess.

My guess is we no longer veer to the left after checking in with security, but swing to the right instead.

Place looks nice. We’ve never stayed at CSR and probably ever will but we’re looking forward to having dinner at Toledo’s Tuesday evening. Here’s hoping it will go well.

Sheesh. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
They think it looks classy and chic. It looks cheap to me. At least the All Stars and Pop Century are purposely going for the cheesy look when they went cheap.

If conventioneers don't like Disney style theming and would rather have Vegas then don't have your convention at Disney. The destination and attraction is DISNEY! There are hotels like this all over the world. What is so special and different about it? Modern Barcelona inspired moderism has no place in CSR or on Disney property. But I'm fighting a losing battle on this front and have about given up.
