So because we had missed our reservation at Trails end on Sat, we had one spare dining credit for the week. Obviously, Hollywood Studios apart from the Brown Derby was booked solid (still didn't stop me just trying to walk up and see a couple of times! Ha ha me!
) so after returning in the rain in the evening and eventually giving up on any sit down meals in the park, we decided to head to the Boardwalk area as we still had a good few hours until the fireworks. Buuuuut because of the rain of course there were no ferries running and loooots of people waiting for the Boardwalk hotels bus. So... we thought lets just walk! We've never taken the walk and we were pretty soaked from the rain anyway, plus it was starting to taper off.
It wasn't too bad a walk... apart from when we got to the Boardwalk Hotel and the lovely ferry decided to pass by as now they had started running
Ahhhh well plenty of treats that need to be burned off from this holiday!
So at the Boardwalk... the crowds were just as bad! Well duh, it's Disney AND a holiday weekend! But eventually after trying some restaurants Big River Grille said we could sit up at the bar as they serve their full menu there. Good enough for us at this point! It's not the best table service obviously, but we were hungry and had a spare table service that needed to be used as we have restaurants booked for the rest of the week so no room to use it! Plus there was quite a lively atmosphere inside so that was nice.
Pineapple Mojito! And a Rocket Red Ale for Russ. Both delicious!
For dinner I had the NY Strip and Shrimp Combo and Russ had the Kobe Beef Burger. Both were pretty ok! Really liked my garlic mash. Vegetables were just vegetables and there could of been fries rather than chips with the burger. But not too bad. Side note- I have noticed that most quick service places have replaced chips with fries again, after last year? It was annoying to me last year with all the "home made chips" when you fancied some fries- chips are ok with a sandwich but bit weird with a burger or nuggets! So maybe a lot of people said the same thing?
Anyhoo so after eating we took the drinks and desserts to go and headed back towards Hollywood Studios! This time on a boat!
Almost time for the show!
We had our own desserts from the restaurant (rubbish pic but they were YUM! "Chocolate Confusion Cake" with Oreos and a New York Cheesecake with berry compote) so we had our own little dessert party for free!
And actually it wasn't terribly crowded (maybe because of the rain) so we had quite a spacious and center front view! Although, I will say being nearer the stage- the fireworks go off behind it so half of them were hidden!
Next time might not listen to people on here saying they couldn't hear music further back- the music was pretty loud
and I'm sure the view would be much better when you can see more than half the fireworks! But it was still fun being with the crowd and the atmosphere with the show and the fireworks we could see- plus we're planning to return on Friday evening to try again further back!
Pre-show...
Fireworks!
After the fireworks we quickly headed over to Star Tours to check the wait- 10 mins now, woo hoo! Then with an adventure through Hoth and Naboo Seascape under our belts we decided our Disney Star Wars minds were a little bit tired and back home we headed for an early(ish) night. Not before taking a sneaky pic at one of the SWW stands though!
And that was our Star Wars Sunday!
Coming up... what I've been up to today so far!
