Trip Report Corn Dogs & Margaritas... Live!! *Complete!*

So I'm sitting here in the sunshine at the Boardwalk, after dropping our rental car off at the Dolphin (been in Orlando a week visiting the "other" parks- shhh! :p And the beach :)) and after picking up strawberry margaritas and some corn dogs, whilst thinking what to name my live trip report... well I looked down and there you go!:D

image.jpg

So, I'll post more later and a bit about us and the trip from our resort (Coronado Springs! Yaaaay!), but for now I'll bid you adieu and hope you'll follow me along on my Disney (Birthday! :D) adventure that will DEFINITELY involve many photos of food and drink and disney awesomeness!!

YAAAAAAAaaaaaaaayyyyyy...!!

So, where did I leave off from yesterday...

Ah yes, after we'd filled our bellies with the Darth Cupcakes :hungry: we headed back towards Star Tours to see if the line had died down for our FP+. It had! So on we went.

Still not been the rebel spy yet! :( Maybe soon.... :)

After this we headed back up The Streets of America again towards TSMM for our next FP+. Bumped into this crazy guy all dressed in black on the way... he must be mental in this heat...! :p :D

R2 was ready for TSMM! :D

061 (2).JPG

I love this ride, wouldn't wait the crazy wait times (140 mins today!) but love going on it when we can. I'm already a fan of the FP+ but even more so for the fact I can now book TSMM without having to run like crazy and before 9am to get a FP for that day! Been on it twice this holiday now without a hiccup with the bands- hadn't been on it for over 2 years with the previous system! So FP+ is all good with me :).

After this we had a very exciting appointment booked for Russ... The D-Tech Me experience! Checking in actually allowed us to skip the line to the Darth Mall which was a bonus! Although, at $99 for each figure it's a pricey line skipping ticket... Lol, but since we were doing it anyway it was bonus for us!

Stormtrooper making time! :D Russ ordered an X-Wing Fighter too. The lady doing it was really nice and joking along with us so made the experience extra fun!

065 (2).JPG

066 (2).JPG

We also picked up a couple of Death Star Ice Cube drinks  whilst we were there, from the Ackbar! :D

053 (3).JPG

051 (3).JPG

I also purchased a Darth Vader on the Astro Orbitor t-shirt! And an R2D2 car sticker
At this point though, even though the Dart Mall was nice and air conditioned, the heat was starting to get to us when we headed outside! So I quickly went on ToT (another love of mine! Not so much of Russ'... lol) with our final FP+ before heading out of the park to rest before returning that evening. Not before buying a much needed (of course!) DARTH VADER POPCORN BUCKET!!

Up next... our evening at SWW! :)

So because we had missed our reservation at Trails end on Sat, we had one spare dining credit for the week. Obviously, Hollywood Studios apart from the Brown Derby was booked solid (still didn't stop me just trying to walk up and see a couple of times! Ha ha me!) so after returning in the rain in the evening and eventually giving up on any sit down meals in the park, we decided to head to the Boardwalk area as we still had a good few hours until the fireworks. Buuuuut because of the rain of course there were no ferries running and loooots of people waiting for the Boardwalk hotels bus. So... we thought lets just walk! We've never taken the walk and we were pretty soaked from the rain anyway, plus it was starting to taper off.
It wasn't too bad a walk... apart from when we got to the Boardwalk Hotel and the lovely ferry decided to pass by as now they had started running :bored: Ahhhh well plenty of treats that need to be burned off from this holiday!

So at the Boardwalk... the crowds were just as bad! Well duh, it's Disney AND a holiday weekend! But eventually after trying some restaurants Big River Grille said we could sit up at the bar as they serve their full menu there. Good enough for us at this point! It's not the best table service obviously, but we were hungry and had a spare table service that needed to be used as we have restaurants booked for the rest of the week so no room to use it! Plus there was quite a lively atmosphere inside so that was nice.

Pineapple Mojito! And a Rocket Red Ale for Russ. Both delicious!

060 (3).JPG

For dinner I had the NY Strip and Shrimp Combo and Russ had the Kobe Beef Burger. Both were pretty ok! Really liked my garlic mash. Vegetables were just vegetables and there could of been fries rather than chips with the burger. But not too bad. Side note- I have noticed that most quick service places have replaced chips with fries again, after last year? It was annoying to me last year with all the "home made chips" when you fancied some fries- chips are ok with a sandwich but bit weird with a burger or nuggets! So maybe a lot of people said the same thing?

065 (3).JPG

064 (3).JPG

Anyhoo so after eating we took the drinks and desserts to go and headed back towards Hollywood Studios! This time on a boat! :D

Almost time for the show!

069 (2).JPG

We had our own desserts from the restaurant (rubbish pic but they were YUM! "Chocolate Confusion Cake" with Oreos and a New York Cheesecake with berry compote) so we had our own little dessert party for free!

066 (3).JPG

And actually it wasn't terribly crowded (maybe because of the rain) so we had quite a spacious and center front view! Although, I will say being nearer the stage- the fireworks go off behind it so half of them were hidden! Next time might not listen to people on here saying they couldn't hear music further back- the music was pretty loud :bored: and I'm sure the view would be much better when you can see more than half the fireworks! But it was still fun being with the crowd and the atmosphere with the show and the fireworks we could see- plus we're planning to return on Friday evening to try again further back!

Pre-show...

Fireworks! :D

093 (2).JPG

092 (2).JPG

After the fireworks we quickly headed over to Star Tours to check the wait- 10 mins now, woo hoo! Then with an adventure through Hoth and Naboo Seascape under our belts we decided our Disney Star Wars minds were a little bit tired and back home we headed for an early(ish) night. Not before taking a sneaky pic at one of the SWW stands though! :p

098 (2).JPG

And that was our Star Wars Sunday!

Coming up... what I've been up to today so far!

So today has been a nice relaxing resort day so far... :)

Went to the pool this morning and did some swimming and sunbathing. Russ got some washing done! He he, well trained! ;)

055 (4).JPG

056 (4).JPG

Hidden Mickey in the pavement?

059 (4).JPG

Then we went to lunch at the Pepper Market. Not too bad a selection here now, and it's not a buffet anymore, it's pretty much like other resort food courts. My Torta Chicken Sandwich (with pineapple crema & avocado) with a side salad was pretty tasty! Russ had the chicken tacos which were again not bad. Russ had churros for dessert and I grabbed a bran muffin to eat later or perhaps for breakfast tommorow!

As we left El Centro after looking around the gift shop, a storm really kicked off! Wind and rain and thunder. So heading back to our room on this resort day didn't seem to bad of an idea! And it's given me a chance to write up the previous days lol.

Coming up tonight is our next ADR.... OHANA!!! YES!! :D  :D :hungry: :hungry: :hungry: :hungry:

I know as soon as I saw that pizza I knew I was eating pizza for lunch today.

I know Im a Jersey snob when it comes to pizza, but holy hannah... that is one heck of a pizza!

Ugh! That picture seriously makes me want to add in a ADR for Via Napoli... but honestly, I just can't wrap my brain around paying that much for a pizza lol. I does look really good though! Decisions decisions...

Not sure where I'd fit that into our plans anyway, honestly. Off to play with a few things...

Coming from England the prices pretty much match up to what we pay at restaurants and even takeout normally! Plus holiday money we've saved/planned for never seems like "real" money (until we're home and on a budget again!) so we try not to think about the actual individual prices too much when at Disney...!

Yeah, I get that... and I'm definitely not under any false pretenses about Disney prices lol. It's just that DH and I have both had weight loss surgery, so an individual pizza would be too much for me (I usually eat less than half, sometimes more like 1/4, of what most adults who eat normal meals would), but sharing one looks like it wouldn't be enough for DH to get enough to eat too. I know we could always share a pizza and an appetizer, but still...

It's times like this that I find myself almost wishing I had a normal-sized stomach again...lol ;)

More in a moment! :hungry:

Ah I see... yes the large pizza would definitely be too much! Well, as with all decisions only you'll know what will be best to do! We are considering cancelling our Boma ADR in two days as after tonight it just seems like too much food even though we love Boma!

And p.s. that's very brave of you both- that's a big operation!

Yeah I had to be careful when picking which restaurants we booked because I didn't want anything that would be too much food or a waste of money for us (like buffets lol).

And thanks! Best decision I ever made :)

And Ohana continued...

Another round of drinks! :D
A "Smoked Turkey" for Russ (the cherries in this were delicious!) and a Magical Star Cocktail for me! Pretty!!

image.jpg

image.jpg

Now... more food... and meat... I forgot a pic of the shrimp...

image.jpg

So much meat....

image.jpg

Now, there was no chicken... But... I honestly didn't miss it! The chicken wings were awesome and I was so full with the other 3 skewer offerings. I did think at first that the portions of pot stickers and noodles were smaller, but, I then remembered they said (and kept saying!) that it was all you can eat and you can ask for more of anything. And we honestly didn't need it! There was actually less waste this time then previously! And the whole experience was still great, great servers, great atmosphere.

And of course, there was still room for dessert! :hungry:
This was AMAZING, again!

image.jpg

So after dinner we were so full and sleepy (ha ha!) we gave fireworks on the beach a miss and caught the monorail back to the MK to catch a bus back to Coronado Springs.

There was, of course, construction at the Poly, and it was noticeable that things were closed (and the waterfall had the beginnings of walls going up), but I'll be interested to see all the new improvements when it's done. I wouldn't want to stay there right now but it honestly doesn't impact on Ohana or around the pool area and the resort still had the lovely feel of the Poly :)

image.jpg

And even though we left the Poly early we still caught a few fireworks outside the gates of MK before boarding the bus!

image.jpg

image.jpg

And now... I slip into my food coma! :D
Night night

Ohh boy, I have got to get one of those glowing drinks (I know they're probably a little more). I showed boyfriend a pic and he thinks I'm silly.

Hey glowing drinks aren't silly! They make it taste better! ;)

In fact, you can tell your boyfriend it's scientifically proven that glowy + pretty + alcohol + awesomeness = happiness! So... done deal :joyfull:

And actually it wasn't too much more than most of the Disney adult beverages- in fact cheaper than some margaritas- $10.50!

What's in the glowy drink?

It's changed the recipe since the last time I was here- for the better!

Magical Star Cocktail
"X-Fusion Organic Mango and Passion Fruit Liqueur, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Pineapple Juice, and a souvenir Multicolored Glow Cube"

I've had X-fusion vodka before (at Port Orleans in fact!) and loved it so much I bought a bottle to take home! It's very sweet though so it's for the sweet toothed fan!
