Convince me to ride Summit Plummet

I love thrill rides. Ride all of 'em at least once on every trip. I've ridden every ride at WDW. There is nothing that I have not been on at least once.

With the exception of (Dragnet Theme plays) Summit Plummet.

I need YOU, my WDWMagic friends, to convince me to ride the darn thing.

My son loves it and says it would not be a problem at all for me. I've just got to get the nerve to do it. I'm in good shape, go to the gym every day, don't drink, don't smoke, I'll be 53 in March--but folks always tell me I look much younger. I would hate to get to the top of the ride then back out. I think it's become more or a mental thing than anything else.

I've got 91 days for you and for me to convince myself to do it.

(By the way, don't let the don't drink or smoke thing fool you. I'm really a fun guy.)

You should definitely do it! I am not a fan of water and I got up the nerve to do it. Of course, I was more scared about the 10" or water at the bottom than the drop. It was SO fun though!

But... uh... though I know your name is David, don't wear a bikini top that simply ties in the back and at the neck... yeah... not a good idea especially when there are people sitting on the bleachers at the base of the slide. :dazzle::dazzle::brick::brick:

PS - I don't drink nor smoke and I'm tons of fun! :sohappy:

(Makes note to self) Leave Bikini top at home.

Ok what else?

You do know that there is a special signal given from the top to alert everyone at the bottom when someone in a two piece is on the way, right?

Y'all are hilarious!

I worked at Blizzard Beach over the winter and I had to convince a LOT of people to go down. I want to applaud you, David, for taking the time to get your nerves calm NOW rather than at the top of the slide where it would hold up the line! :P

Anyway, I used to be scared of Summit Plummet too. I rode it first when I was a kid, around 12 or so. I think the most thrilling part is making your way to the top. You get a very fantastic view of everything; if you look closely you can see every park icon and many of the resorts. But when you're at the very top, all you see in front of you is 3 feet of slide and then a drop-off. Very freaky. That's the scariest part for me. But once you muster up the courage to go down, it's all over in literally 8 seconds.

Now when I started working there, I got nervous when I went up to Summit to work it because it was so high, but I got used to it quickly and felt really safe. Maybe sharing your anxiety with other guests while in the line will help (or it might hurt, heh). At one point I had to ride-test Summit as part of my opening duties, and not having as much anxiety as before helped a lot, and once I had gone down, I wasn't scared at all. It is really a lot of fun and you'll feel so much better once you've done it.

Honestly it goes by so fast you dont even know it
the only thing is that the worst that will happen is probably one of the worst wedgies ever!

It was a super ride and the only hard part for me was standing on the steps that high up (I get some vertigo here and there). On the ride I was fine and wow, just to think that I went that fast on water is pretty remarkable!

Trust me, it's also really cool to go into work and be like "I went on a water slide where I was clocked at 60mph and like 200 ft tall!"...trust me, everyone will think that you're super brave!

I know about those wedgies. One time I went down a big slide, (nothing like SP) I forgot to cross my legs. Not only had a wedgie, but it took a little longer for me to get up. Some things you learn REAL fast.

Gooooooood times! There is actually nothing to this ride. The drop on splash mtn is worse than this. If you can take that, this is nothing. It's sort of like standing in a shower upside down, with the water gushing at you from every direction, you almost can't even feel yourself falling, it's too surreal and you're too engulfed in gushing water from every direction...or that's how it feels...to know what's going on. It's over before you know it. DEFINITELY do it, you'll be glad you did, and you'll stand at the bottom saying, 'oh that was no big deal'. A TON of fun, but no big deal....

OK, OK, I'm gonna give it a try. It's probably one of those times when, as soon as you finish, you get back in line. At least I hope that's the case.

It's just like any other water slide, and you say that you have done those before, so no problem. It is a little or a lot higher, but that just means that you will go further at the bottom. After you have ridden it you will feel that you can do anything, well almost anything.
