Contemporary Tower Looks bad

Wait until it is done to pass judgement?

No?

Par for the course on these forums.

I get a kick out of folks that gripe and find fault with something that isn't even completed yet. It just proves that people like to complain simply for the sake of complaining.

You know, we looked at joining DVC this past winter. Too much money right now (since I'm going to be going into college real soon and my sister is not far behind). I'd still like to some day though. Maybe I'll like the tower more if I'm a member.

Either way though, I just hope you can only see it from Tomorrowland just like the A-frame. It seems like they did so much work to make the A-frame just visible from Tomorrowland, and I would hate for that detail to be ruined by a hotel that most of the public can't even stay in.

There's also one more problem with a South Garden Tower...

There's kind of an A-frame in the way of the prime view.

Again, can we all please remember that having a different OPINION doesn't mean that one is right and the other wrong, so there is no need to start tossing words such as "dumb" "stupid" "idiotic" around.

I agree those words are a little strong for just an opinion. Just like everyone else I love Disney:)

Yes, that's true. But, you left out the fact that it's for 50 years that you'll have that available to you. So, if you divide 16K by 50 years, that's $320 per year. You can't stay at a moderate on special rates for less than that. And, this is at a deluxe resort with extra amenities! :D

There are a lot more factors that go into it (such as inflation and how it affects the cost of a hotel room into the future, yet DVC will not go up, etc), but that's a whole other discussion on a different thread ;)

I love the historical aspect of the resort and I'm not pleased that it's being altered this drastically. BUT, I am DYING for the thing to be open because I'm a DVC member and a monorail DVC hotel is what we've been waiting for! The closest we've gotten to MK is WLV (which we LOVE), but it's not as convenient to wait for a ferry boat at the back of the resort (especially when it's really cold out or raining) then to wait for a monorail to arrive inside the Contemporary. :D

That is only $320/year if you can afford 16k straight up. I am going to assume must people finance it. So it is probably closer to 32k for 160 points. Plus around $65/month fees for 50 years is another 39k. So you are spending aroud $72,000 when it is all said and done. I have looked into it and the 72k actually is not bad. If you spend $2,000/year in just accomodations and you go for the next 50 years you will have spent close to $100,000. So the DVC could be worth, but it is no where near $320/year. It is much closer to $1440/year and that is at just 160 points which does not get you too much. All this being said the fact that this is a monorail resort does make it a very attractive time to buy into the DVC.
